It reminded me of another form of arthritis, Ankylosing spondylitis or AS. I really think you should get to a doctor to have this evaluated asap. This is a red flag symptom and you do not want to put this off.

Vit D , calcium, parathyroid and thyroid gland function, and low estrogen too could be a cause.
If you are of Scandinavian descent then HLA-B27 gene is present in about one third population and not all having this gene have ankylosing spondylitis. Also while 90 percent of people having ankylosing spondylitis have the HLA-B27 gene, but all those who have the HLA-B27 gene do not have ankylosing spondylitis. So, since both your parents have the HLA-B27 gene, you are likely to inherit it from them.
There is a 97% chance to that I may have a ankylosing spondylitis, could this be another reason why my shoulders are inflammed? Doctors are primarily saying it is due to chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, but there are no tests for that, as what I am aware off, so I am a little confused with the tests, I have lumber spondylitis, bursitis in the hip. Cancer has not returned. However he is diabetic and last year was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis. He was taking remicade by infusion but had to stop that due to his chronic anemia. The rheumatology doctor told him that the ankylosing spondylitis can cause ulcerative colitis and crohn's. He is now 74 has had 32 blood transfusions over about 16 months and has also been diagnosed with crohn's disease. They believe he is bleeding internally.

A back pain or a referred pain due to a nerve pinched that is worse on lying down or felt mainly on lying down can also be due to a tumor within the spinal cord. A neurological examination can pinpoint the site. A CT scan or a MRI will be surely required.
I have ankylosing spondylitis currently take Humira and antiflamitories. I avoid sugar and certain meats like chicken and pork to avoid attacks. However one thing I can't avoid is weather changes such as spring and fall. This last year has been a real rough the attacks have been really bad. Any suggestion?

Does anyone have Ankylosing Spondylitis? I have suffered with the disease and related symptoms for over 30 years. My daughter who was 30 died of the comlications of this diesease three years ago.
I was told in February of this year that I have arthritis in my lumbar spine. This was a year after I started having severe lower back pain. I also have a herniated disk, early DDD and stenosis. I was sent to a neurosurgeon who said I was not a surgical candidate due to my age (26). My doctor then sent me to pain management because he had nothing else to offer me. I never had blood work done. Only an XRAY and MRI.
As well, I do know that colitis can be associated with ankylosing spondylitis (spinal arthritis that begins with sacral region pain). I believe there are other arthritis conditions that can be related to Crohn's and Colitis. My son has colitis and has problems with sacral and almost sciatica type pain. It wasn't bothering him for a while but then he went off his anti-inflammatory meds and is only on the immune suppressant Imuran.
He had a loop monitor put in to monitor his heart (totally norma after 3 months) and through all of this was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis (he has minimal if any back pain but does has a few fused vertebrae in his neck and does have stiffness.
His symptoms have only worsened over the past few months.
I am from Nagpur, MS, India. I am suffering from ankylosing spondylitis since 1989. I am bedridden since 1996. But from few days i am able to walk with the help of walker. My bone density is too low. My doctor said that my bone density match to the bone density of 100-105 year old person. I am ankylose from neck to knee. That means i am having bamboo spine & my complete hip & both knees are ankylose. I had to undergo complete hip & both knee replacement surgery.
My daughter has Ankylosing Spondylitis with uveitis she get (stairrod ?? on spelling) injection in both her eyes when her eyes are inflam. Her last injection was alittle over a year ago, she went to her regular eye doctor for an exam just 3 weeks and found out she is blind in her right eye now, A large floater in the middle of her eye. (She had 20/20 last year in that eye.) The doctor said her macular is inflam and there nothing they can do for her sight.
So far I have been spared cracking, popping and grating in my neck although I have had miserable pain there for the last few days. I have ankylosing spondylitis (back, hips, SI joints) and rheumatoid arthritis (feels like every other joint in my body) so it may be in my future. What kind of arthrtis do you have? Are the medications you are taking slowing down the progress of the disease?
