Osteoarthritis upper arm pain

Common Questions and Answers about Osteoarthritis upper arm pain

osteoarthritis

Avatar f tn I have pain in both my upper arms. I suffer from osteoarthritis and wondered if it is connected, I know it is in my spine. The pain is enough to disrupt my sleeping, and I sometimes find it difficult to pick up or hold a book to read because it's so painful. I have to sleep on my side and I'm not sure if it's connected to that. I have tried putting heat on and it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Avatar m tn Rotator cuff signs and symptoms would consist of shoulder pain and also deltoid muscle pain in your upper arm, weakness during shoulder functions and also clicking in the shoulder with popping a prominent feature in some people. It occurs in a dominant arm and the pain may interfere with sleep and worse at night. There is problem with lifting of weights with the effected shoulder and decrease in ability to move the arm, especially out to the side.
408795 tn?1324935675 I have extensive Osteoarthritis in my upper back and neck from an accident I was in over 20yrs ago. I had an accident and I broke my right leg and my left arm. As a result my right leg is slightly bowed and therefore around a half inch shorter than my left leg. As a result it has affected my back and neck. Lately my legs have been swelling and itching, mostly the left. I certainly feel it's all related to my right leg injury.
513154 tn?1340225289 I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!
424634 tn?1277857528 Second, I had a C5-6-7 fusion 13 years ago, and now have more bulging below the fused site and a little above it. Prior to the fusion, I had pain that went down my right arm, fasiculation of the affected muscle, weakness and atrophy. It was horrible. Now, I'm getting pain on both sides and in the same place. I can only assume it's from my neck, but If each nerve only deals with one area of the body, why am I getting this pain again? I thought the fusion resolved this area.
Avatar f tn However I have absolutely no pain in my fingers or toes and feel that the pain is more muscular than joint. If I extend my arm too far the pain in my upper arm is excruciating. Trying to go from a kneeling to sitting positions is almost impossible and I struggle to go from sitting/lying to standing position. I'm at my wit's end as I feel that my practitioner is not taking my concerns seriously - can anyone point me in the right direction?
1044526 tn?1254514545 This will likely cause nerves to be pinched and give you pain/weakness in the left arm. Also at this level you have narrowing of the spinal canal and this can cause symptoms that look very much like MS in your arms and below. This is not my specialty, so I can't say much more than this. You might very well be referred to a neurosurgeon if any of this is causing pressure on the spinal cord.
497015 tn?1209737845 Two months ago I started having pain in my left upper arm. No pain when touched. only hurts when I move it for reaching backward as trying to put on my coat. Dr says it is me pain. He refused to believe it was any thing else. At first he said : Well I have you on a pretty strong pain pill. I said I Don't Want Another Pill , I want it fixed!!!! Not the answer I wanted. Can't even hook my bra strap. So another pain to add to the long list I already have.
Avatar n tn It could be osteoarthritis or carpel tunnel syndrome. See your Dr to find out for sure.
Avatar f tn For the past 3 months I have had this pain in my elbow which shoots up my arm and down my arm. I noticed that my elbow is somewhat swollen and discolored but I have never had a blunt blow to that arm. I have tried to wrap it; apply ice; apply heat; taken ibuprophen; and rest. Nothing is working. What could this be? I have had rotator cuff surgery several years ago on the same arm. Could this be related to that or something else?
1369383 tn?1299023561 However, it may not always be so. Neck pain may sometimes extend till the arm and fingers, which may be a cause of severe discomfort. This could be one of the many symptoms of pinched nerve in neck. What is Pinched Nerve in Neck? Due to various reasons, sometimes nerves which radiate from the intervertebral areas in the neck get compressed. This leads to stress on the nerve, which emanates pain in the neck and adjoining areas like shoulders, arms and fingers, and upper and lower back.
Avatar n tn the doctor says I have arthritis behind the front of the knee and he repaired the torn tendons, and said after recovery he would treat the arthritis in the office. I started physical therapy two and a half weeks ago, but now I have developed a pain on the outside of the RIGHT buttock or hip.. the pain doesn't bother me when i am sitting or laying down, but walking is excruciating and it radiates to the back of the thigh and the outside of the upper calf... what can this be?
Avatar m tn I am having extreme pain in my left upper arm. I believe it is from pulling up & lifting a heavy item repeatedly this week from about the height of my ribs. I have been taking muscle relaxers, applying heat & trying to 'work it out' by moving it alot.. I'm wondering if the heat & movement was wrong because its getting much worse. It is now painful to touch it. Its about one inch down from the top middle of my arm.
Avatar f tn Im a 51 yr old female. Have noticed over the past year a pain in my left upper arm that is getting worse. No, its NOT heart pain. This is pain related to movement of the arm. Its right about where you get a flu shot, only straight down the arm by about 2-3 inches On the OUTSIDE of my arm. Right where somebody would give you a punch on the arm. In THAT spot. It has gone from a mild ache if I move it just right, to a burning almost unbearable pain when I move it just right.
Avatar f tn what would cause the pain in my upper arm to come and go at will and at night wake me up with the pain from it as well as pain during the day?

Avatar n tn For a few months I experience upper arm pain close to my shoulders when I lift my arms up. At the same time I have a constant sinus infection. Can there be any connection? What doctor should I see for my arms/shoulders? Second question. I was taking Selexa for two weeks and I got a bad skin rash. I stopped taking Selexa three weeks ago but rash doesn't go away. What can be the reason?
Avatar f tn Since then, whenever I try to stretch to reach something with my left arm, or raise my left arm above my head, behind me, etc., I feel an extremely severe pain in my upper arm. This pain makes me think it has something to do with a nerve as its a stinging pain which lasts for 30-45 seconds and then eases up. I'm also unable to lay on my left side because of this pain which makes sleeping at night difficult.
Avatar f tn Sometimes a rotator cuff tear will cause upper arm pain like you are describing but not often seen in both upper extremities at the same time. Have it checked out!
