1069378 tn?1255215132 Has anyone used acupuncture successfully to eliminate the pain from osteoarthritis? Does anyone know which treatment has had more success treating the pain of osteoarthritis, acupuncture or synvisc injections? Any help is appreciated.
Avatar f tn I think the arthritis issues that can be related to interferon are more along the lines of rheumatoid arthritis, an auto-immune disorder, than osteoarthritis, so should not make the osteo worse but might add another layer of misery if the interferon causes that in you; no way to tell in advance if it will happen. I know stenosis is bad and most people need to correct that with surgery.
Avatar m tn t think that is what you are looking for. What symptoms are you experiencing now? What treatment has the doctor prescribed? What area of your body is effected?
Avatar f tn I have Osteoarthritis and it is getting worse. I taken Celebrex, Norco, Tramadol and Vicopren. None of these are working. I don't have insurance and go to a public health clinic. They don't seem to know what to do. Could you please advise me on what I can take that will help with the chronic pain and will be inexpensive.
Avatar f tn MSM, and Apple Cider Vinegar with the mother as a treatment, how each one works against arthritis, and which is the best to use, as I've had both work well (esp the ACV), but the MSM is expensive, but the ACV has negative side effects. Thank you for your time to reply.
Avatar n tn Hi it is my first time ever posting on a forum, i need help and advise as to the best way to get help and treatment for pain that im in.
Avatar f tn Treatment of Osteoarthritis consists of exercise, manual therapy, lifestyle modification, medication and other interventions to alleviate pain. If these fail then you go for surgery. Joint replacement surgery may be required. Individuals with very painful OA joints may require surgery such as fragment removal, repositioning bones, or fusing bone to increase stability and reduce pain.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Celebrex (200 mg a day) for about five years for bone on bone knee osteoarthritis. It has worked well for controlling my pain (not perfect but pretty good). I also get some lower back pain (combination of osteoarthritis and nerve stuff) that only happens when I over-do (like trying to garden, etc.). I typically need a day or two of Vicodin for that as the Celebrex does not seem to work for that.
1378884 tn?1315505845 In a nutshell, osteoarthritis is wear-and-tear on the joint. It can happen at any age, not just to "old people". It can be brought on by an injury, a congenital deformity, overuse in a sport or job. RA is a malfunction of the immune system in which it mistakes joint tissue, mainly the cartilage, as something that must be attacked and eliminated. This causes the typical swelling, redness, heat, and over time, damage that causes pain and disability.
Avatar n tn Is Novartis taking 1% Voltaren Gel off the market? The stuff really works. My pharmacy said shortly after I filled my Rx in Dec. '11 that they had been unable to get the drug & unable to get the medication so they could compound it themselves. Any suggestions. I cannot take po NSAIDS.
Avatar n tn I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
513154 tn?1340225289 I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!

Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
Avatar m tn / I knew my condition was bad b/c of the amount of pain I am in but wasn't expecting that especially @ 32 with a 4 yr old and 7 month old!! Anyways, he adviced pain meds and synvisc-one injections until we couldn't control the pain enough. I tried the injections. I won't lie the are a bit painful. My right one was just uncomfortable. The left one hurt way worse. I have no idea why but it even swelled up and I had to stay off it about 24 hours b/c of all the fluid on it.
Avatar f tn Physical therapy plays an important role in the treatment plan of osteoarthritis. If you are not satisfied seeking second opinion will help. Do keep me posted. Take care and regards!
Avatar n tn I have Osteoarthritis. I've had it for over 20 yeras. Its in my hands. I recently moved to the CSRA area of South Carolina. I have been to FOUR doctors here. They dont listen. They mess with my high blood pressure, my pain management, and Asperger's Syndrone medication. The results have been catastrophic. They want to try all kinds of things, and Im tired of it. I want to go back to the meds that WORK.
Avatar f tn You're welcome! Well, that definitely is a reason not to bother your doctor with asking about ibuprofen! That's too bad, because when I was first told I had osteoarthritis in my jaw joints (could hardly open my mouth at the time), I was told ibuprofen was the drug of choice for TMJ.
Avatar m tn Thirteen months ago I moved to Arkansas and began to seek treatment from a Doctor. I have waited 11 months trying to get an appointment with a Hepatologist and I am still waiting! Also I applied for S.S.I. and last month recieved my first check. Now that I can afford at least minimal herbal treatment, I am not sure what that should consist of. Today I took my first Milk Thistle pill. I was told to take 4 of them a day to start.
