Avatar f tn I have had about 3 different series of injections in my knee which has severe osteoarthritis. Two series were Synvisc; one was Suparts. None of these has provided significant relief of pain or increased mobility. I have always had these injections done in the doctor's office. I have been reading on the internet that about 25% of these injections go into the fatty tissue and do not give maximum relief.
Avatar f tn I have severe osteoarthritis in most of my joints. My question today is related to my knees. my orthopedic surgeon and I have tried physical therapy, ice and heat therapy, anti inflammatories (which I'm unable to tolerate due to high blood pressure and severe gastrointestinal problems with them - also allergic to medicine in Aleve). A couple of weeks ago I elected to try a cortisone injection into the knee.

Avatar m tn t think that is what you are looking for. What symptoms are you experiencing now? What treatment has the doctor prescribed? What area of your body is effected?
1139187 tn?1355706647 You can have side effects of dizziness and headaches with viscosupplementation. There are other side effects like skin irritation, numbness or tingly feeling. Eat healthy and drink lots of water and if the symptoms continue beyond a week then check for any allergic reactions with your orthopedician and rethink before taking the 2nd shot.
Avatar n tn Hi it is my first time ever posting on a forum, i need help and advise as to the best way to get help and treatment for pain that im in.
Avatar f tn Treatment of Osteoarthritis consists of exercise, manual therapy, lifestyle modification, medication and other interventions to alleviate pain. If these fail then you go for surgery. Joint replacement surgery may be required. Individuals with very painful OA joints may require surgery such as fragment removal, repositioning bones, or fusing bone to increase stability and reduce pain.
1069378 tn?1255215132 Has anyone used acupuncture successfully to eliminate the pain from osteoarthritis? Does anyone know which treatment has had more success treating the pain of osteoarthritis, acupuncture or synvisc injections? Any help is appreciated.
Avatar n tn I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
513154 tn?1340225289 I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!

Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
Avatar m tn / I knew my condition was bad b/c of the amount of pain I am in but wasn't expecting that especially @ 32 with a 4 yr old and 7 month old!! Anyways, he adviced pain meds and synvisc-one injections until we couldn't control the pain enough. I tried the injections. I won't lie the are a bit painful. My right one was just uncomfortable. The left one hurt way worse. I have no idea why but it even swelled up and I had to stay off it about 24 hours b/c of all the fluid on it.
Avatar f tn Physical therapy plays an important role in the treatment plan of osteoarthritis. If you are not satisfied seeking second opinion will help. Do keep me posted. Take care and regards!
