Avatar f tn Yes- and some of these suggestions are for more than just the bad days (such as the soft diet, for example): A) Soft diet, avoiding nuts unless you crush them to powder or eat nut butter, raw carrots, chewing gum, chewy candy, granola bars, steak, and anything else that takes a lot of chewing B) Making a conscious effort to relax the muscles in your face, use moist heat (or not, if that gives you a migraine/headache), C) Use a wrap around ice pak (velcro cover to keep it on in either the po
Avatar m tn I have osteoarthritis in my neck moderate and mild in lower back. Can and adjusment help? will they even do an adjustment me? i seem to be losing sensativity in my legs but dont know if iy du to oa in back nad neck.any help would be great. thank you.
Avatar m tn t think that is what you are looking for. What symptoms are you experiencing now? What treatment has the doctor prescribed? What area of your body is effected?
Avatar f tn My husband has had broken fingers and toes and didn't get treatment for it. Me? I'd be at the ER and have it put in one of those funky finger or toes taped all up. But he never did. So, his finger bends funny now and so does a toe. Does it cause any issues? No. Not at this time. But it could down the line. Osteoarthritis is the main worry. If you have another break, just take the toe to the one next to it. And at your next physical, ask your doctor about it.
209987 tn?1451935465 My mom says that her Osteoarthritis does NOT cause her hands to become red, hot, and swollen every morning. She says they become stiff, swollen, and painful. I just read elsewhere that her symptoms are typical of osteoarthritis...mine are not. In fact, the article said that red and hot are not signs of osteoarthritis at all, but they could be symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, major organs shutting down, allergies, etc. My doctor looked at my hands one day and said that I had osteoarthritis...
Avatar m tn I also had some other symptoms such as dry eyes and mouth, both of which I had had for years. I also had a positive ANA. I waited for several months after treatment and then saw a Rheumatologist in July 2013. I told her I was concerned that I had an autoimmune disorder. She ran many specific blood tests, about 34 or so, testing for autoimmune disorders. Most were negative but the Sjogren's test was positive.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the comment. Ordinarily, I would say you are right to follow doctor recommendation first. However, I have read about some very nasty side affects associated with Fosamax and am quite concerned about taking it. Do not have bad osteoarthritis, just trying to keep bones strong. I read about Osteo K in a very reputable magazine (Bottom Line) in May 09. They were very positive about it.
Avatar f tn Hands are so painful and some fingers distorted, feel broke. Was told just a bad case of osteoarthritis. I can't even make a fist, my fingers don't bend. They get worse every year. Why can't I take meds for rheumatoid,,why do I have to have joint damage. 2rheumatologist told me that the meds aren't made for my kind of arthritis. Do you have to have the factor in order to be diagnosed with rh. My hands resemble rh hands. What's going on.?
Avatar n tn The various causes are carpel tunnel syndrome, inflammation of the tendon of the hand due to repetitive work, gout, lymphangitis, deep vein thrombosis, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. You need to consult a doctor and rule these out by blood tests, X-rays, nerve conduction studies, rheumatoid factor, ESR, etc. Since the thumb twitches uncontrollably, symptoms could be due to carpal tunnel syndrome. In this the median nerve is compressed at the wrist in a place called the carpel tunnel.
Avatar n tn Sometimes a couple of fingers hurt. Also, for the past few years my ear aches at night and I have to switch sides. The right side of my jaw hurts as well and I read that they were probably TMD. I went for months with no major pain in my knee and now all of the sudden it hurts along with other joints. I have had no blood tests for RA and I have no swelling. Can all of this be caused by Osteoarthritis or are my symptoms indicative of RA?
1459410 tn?1285695005 I have taken ibuprofen for weeks at a time in the past for the osteoarthritis in my jaws. I try to take it sparingly for it now. But I get frequent heartburn and was recently put on cytotec generic, which is supposed to help with stomach lining. I have tried acupuncture, which I thought helped some, herbal heat pack, ice, valium, ibuprofen and wear a flat-planed splint for my jaw osteoarthritis.
1091980 tn?1295541431 I do not know if its relevant but I have dry eyes, and now need glasses for long distance, near distance and using the computer. (I never needed glasses other than for reading in the last few years) I appreciate any information regarding my symptoms.
Avatar n tn Hi it is my first time ever posting on a forum, i need help and advise as to the best way to get help and treatment for pain that im in.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have osteoarthritis and bone spurs? How fast do bone spurs grow? Do they grow on the base of the thumb? I have a lump that is hard (and hurts if I press on it) and about the size of a small pea, that was not there in September. In under 2 months this lump grew, and I want to know if it could it be a bone spur, or a rheumatoid nodule. (I have "diffuse osteoarthritis" in my joints and spine) and I am only 58. Does osteoarthritis manifest like this?
Avatar f tn Treatment of Osteoarthritis consists of exercise, manual therapy, lifestyle modification, medication and other interventions to alleviate pain. If these fail then you go for surgery. Joint replacement surgery may be required. Individuals with very painful OA joints may require surgery such as fragment removal, repositioning bones, or fusing bone to increase stability and reduce pain.
Avatar f tn Hi there, My mother is a lifelong seamstress and developed osteoarthritis and nodules in her index fingers. I'd definitely get it checked out before the damage gets any worse, especially if the over-the-counter medication isn't doing the job.
