osteoarthritis

Avatar n tn I am at the early stages of PPT (I also have postpartum anxiety) my endocrinologist put me on Tapazole 2 weeks ago. I have a mild soar throat but I believe it's merely the remnants of a cold. However, I am losing an insane amount of hair, above the average hair loss due to postpartum. Is this the combo of thyroid, meds and postpartum... I'm on tapazole 10mg daily dose. Is there something I can do? I had my blood work done on Friday and WBC was normal... does it fluctuate easily?
Avatar f tn 00 mcIU/mL Ever since I gave birth to my second son I have had all the classic symptoms of a thyroid issue. Low temp, cant lose weight, rashes, not healing, tired all the time, etc.etc. They wouldn't do any further testing but I went and had these two antibodies tested with results: THYROGLOBULIN ANTIBODIES 7 HIGH range: < or = 1 IU/mL 01 THYROID PEROXIDASE ANTIBODIES 2 range: <9 IU/mL 01 Does this mean I have Hashimotos? Thank you so much.
Avatar f tn Not much to add other than time will tell. The importatnt question is are you taking an ATD? Also remember that not everyone is textbook, so you can't always compare things like PPT patterns with what you read on the net. This even holds true with graves/hyper, everyones pattern is different, and many of us don't even have the symptoms on the list, and many of us have symptoms that didn't make the list. You should have a more clear picture after the TSI test is run.
Avatar n tn Has your doctor diagnosed post partum thyroiditis (PPT)? Your TPOab is somewhat elevated, which usually indicates PPT. It's considered a variant of Hashimoto's thyroiditis, which is autoimmune thyroid disease and the most prevalent cause of hypo in the developed world. PPT is usually a temporary condition characterized by an initial hyper phase, a brief return to normal and then a hypo phase. Hashi's, except in its very early stages, usually causes hypothyroidism.
Avatar f tn Bare with me on my novel.. Shortly after the birth of my fourth child ( August 2009 ) I began having frightening symptoms. I would feel very hot, shaky and had terrible anxiety, I really thought I was dieing. Serious!!. I also suffered terrible dizzy spells, confusion and a real lack of concentration. I actually forgot about cookies baking in the oven one day! This was really only a few of my worst symptoms.
Avatar n tn ve had Postpartum Anxiety and I think she wanted me to take Tapazole to minimize the anxiety and other symptoms. The PPT the first time converted into Hypo treated with levothyroxine and regulated itself after one year. Does that makes sense then to still be on Tapazole? Thank you for taking the time to email me regarding this issue.
Avatar m tn You may have postpartum thyroiditis (PPT). PPT is considered a "temporary"/self-resolving thyroiditis. It usually starts with a hyper phase, followed by a return to normal and then a hypo phase. However, many women only experience the hypo or the hyper, not both. TSI (thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin) is the antibody marker for Graves'. If you have that tested, and it's elevated, you'll know you have Graves'.
475300 tn?1312423126 specimen not frozen (not applicable for PPT™); PPT™ not centrifuged; specimen received in ”pop-top” or ”snap-cap” tube Limitations: The NGI QuantaSure™ assay has a quantitative range of 2-2,000,000 IU/mL or 5-5,000,000 copies/mL.
Avatar m tn t think that is what you are looking for. What symptoms are you experiencing now? What treatment has the doctor prescribed? What area of your body is effected?
Avatar n tn I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
Avatar m tn I have a vague symptome of sudden shutdown of my energy/syncope/shock for only few seconds. No ppt or relieving factors. No pain ,chest symptoms or unusual stress. This problem repeated over two weeks and becomes more frequent lastly. no other medical condition.
Avatar f tn Could any one help me to know what is my results means specially 2 things in my ppt: (Pre). (Best) Tlc 7.86. 8.90 Rv. 1.92. .90 Rv/tlc 26.44. 10.
2167803 tn?1338529751 The only way to diagnose osteoarthritis or autoimmune arthritis is with x-rays and blood bests. Your thirties is not to young to develop osteoarthritis (the wear and tear type) if you are athletic, or conversely, if you DON'T exercise, if you're overweight, or if you have a congenital deformity in your knees that is only now making itself known with pain. I'd say go in for an x-ray, at the very least.
Avatar f tn ve been on synthyroid for 7 weeks with crazy symptoms with doctors changing the doses 3 times. I started on 100, then dropped to 50 after having crazy heart palpitations and anxiety attacks. Now on 75 and my tsh is at 14. I begged my doctor to do different tests to help get more understanding of what is happening to me. Here are the results: tsh: 14.18(h) free t4:19 free t3: 4.1 thyroglobulin antibodies: 619 (h) thyroglobulin 4.
Avatar f tn Your doctor should be testing FREE T3 and FREE T4, the actual thyroid hormones, as well as TSH (which is a pituitary hormone). TSH is totally inadequate for managing meds for thyroid disease. That being said, a TSH of 27 is high, but just to give you some perspective, mine was 60-something on diagnosis, and we sometimes see members reporting TSH up into the hundreds. As I said, your doctor should also be testing FT3 and FT4 every time blood is drawn.

Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!

Avatar f tn I have Osteoarthritis and it is getting worse. I taken Celebrex, Norco, Tramadol and Vicopren. None of these are working. I don't have insurance and go to a public health clinic. They don't seem to know what to do. Could you please advise me on what I can take that will help with the chronic pain and will be inexpensive.
Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
Avatar m tn / I knew my condition was bad b/c of the amount of pain I am in but wasn't expecting that especially @ 32 with a 4 yr old and 7 month old!! Anyways, he adviced pain meds and synvisc-one injections until we couldn't control the pain enough. I tried the injections. I won't lie the are a bit painful. My right one was just uncomfortable. The left one hurt way worse. I have no idea why but it even swelled up and I had to stay off it about 24 hours b/c of all the fluid on it.
