Due to the pectus excavatum and associated flared lower ribs I have always had about a 25% larger lung capacity than normal, around 5.2 litres. My last FEV1 reading was 101%, and because of this my doctor had thought I only had Stage 1 COPD until the recent scans and oxygenation testing. I have not been able to do the 6 minute walk test due to chronic osteoarthritis in both knees so my doctor was going mainly on my symptoms of fatigue and breathlessness.
By my pointer finger knuckle on both hands it is swollen. In most parts of my body I have tender joints. My ribs evn grind and Crack sometimes. Weird feeling!
Been to rheumatologist most ecently and had blood work done and everything came back normal. He gave me prednisone about a month and a half ago and it helped for a short while. Haven't been back since but I plan to ask for a bone test? Heard that can show if I have RA.
I have osteoarthritis in my neck moderate and mild in lower back. Can and adjusment help? will they even do an adjustment me? i seem to be losing sensativity in my legs but dont know if iy du to oa in back nad neck.any help would be great. thank you.
I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
I have Osteoarthritis and it is getting worse. I taken Celebrex, Norco, Tramadol and Vicopren. None of these are working. I don't have insurance and go to a public health clinic. They don't seem to know what to do. Could you please advise me on what I can take that will help with the chronic pain and will be inexpensive.
I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
i was also wondering about the osteoarthritis as my dr told me that i have severe degenerative osteoarthritis of the lower spine (I forgot the numbers), hips, left shoulder and both feet. I had major surgery last summer and mesh was used to attach part of my bowel to my spine. My dr figures that this may have jump-started the arthritis issues. Currently i have probs walking, bending and overall it hurts to be on my feet for more than 20 mins at a time.
/ I knew my condition was bad b/c of the amount of pain I am in but wasn't expecting that especially @ 32 with a 4 yr old and 7 month old!! Anyways, he adviced pain meds and synvisc-one injections until we couldn't control the pain enough. I tried the injections. I won't lie the are a bit painful. My right one was just uncomfortable. The left one hurt way worse. I have no idea why but it even swelled up and I had to stay off it about 24 hours b/c of all the fluid on it.
My oncologist ordered plain old xrays and they concluded it was osteoarthritis. Ten days later I was in the ER with sever cramps from the middle of my back to my ribs. The ER doctor did an IVP of my kidneys. He found kidney stones, bladder infection, and oh by the way, cancer on my spine! I spose it was there all along, just never looked for it. Anyway, had a biopsy, MRI, Bone Scan. Cancer was found in my spine, pelvis area, and imaged area of my lower extremities.
sometimes i have sharp pains through my ribs and ive noticed from time to time my right arm locks up and i have to straighten my arm out until my elbow pops really loudly to get it back straight again. its just very annoying with one side of my back feeling out of place and stiff and uncomfortable all the time. also i have noticed that my neck gets very stiff at times.

I first noticed this issue with my ribcage in December around the same time I was dx with a dowagers hump, mild adult onset scoliosis in thoracic spine, and osteoarthritis in both of my ac joints (I am 24), so I have been having a rheumatology work up currently. I asked the orthopedic about it who barely touched my ribs and set it was my "rib cage twisting outwards from the scoliosis" so I left it at that and kind of forgot about it.
I am scheduled to have orthoscopic knee surgery on my right knee to correct problems I am having related to osteoarthritis. Does this type of surgery prevent osteoarthritis from returning? Is this surgery safe? What is recovery like after surgery?
Any information anyone has regarding this topic will be greatly appreciated.

You probably have the onset of osteoarthritis which usually is first noticed in the hip, especially when lying on it in bed.
Does anyone have osteoarthritis and bone spurs? How fast do bone spurs grow? Do they grow on the base of the thumb? I have a lump that is hard (and hurts if I press on it) and about the size of a small pea, that was not there in September. In under 2 months this lump grew, and I want to know if it could it be a bone spur, or a rheumatoid nodule. (I have "diffuse osteoarthritis" in my joints and spine) and I am only 58. Does osteoarthritis manifest like this?
