1467506 tn?1286413017 Hi there...when I'm having a "worse day" with my Fibro...I do get that finger pain. It's just an aching pain exactly where you describe it. Not something I have every day, just on my not-so-good days. I've also been checked for RA and don't have it. I have a bit of osteoarthritis in my back and knees but the doc says it's normal for my age.
Avatar f tn As when I carry food shopping only slightly heavy 2-3 bags I get a pull in the wrist area and can be sore. Even simple carrying a bag of milk and a bottle of sprite can set it off and in past weeks they have been really weak holding even a glass of water, toothbrush, Sometimes using a knife in left hand, opening milk etc. I have been wearing wrist brace and have some gel from doctors. Is there anything else I can do at home instead of bothering the doctor and if this sounds like a strain?
Avatar m tn The goal of a wrist fusion is to get the radius in the forearm, the carpal bones of the wrist, and the metacarpals of the hand to fuse into one long bone. The ulna of the forearm is not included in the fusion. The joints between the ulna and the radius are what allows you to turn the palm of your hand up and down. By not fusing the ulna, you should still be able to rotate your hand. However, you will not be able to bend your wrist after the operation.
Avatar n tn I have osteoarthritis in my wrists and finger, worse in my right hand . I have had cortisone shots which does not help , this was caused from a injury at work . I also have signs of carpel tunnel , this has been going on for over 2 yrs.
Avatar f tn I also have occasions where my thumb will become locked in toward my hand and I can not straighten it without pulling it with the other hand. My dr. said it was arthritis and to take advil or aleve . But that does not always keep it from happening. Could something else be causing this ?
Avatar f tn I know by now you may have resolved this issue, but after my first child, I had this kind of pain and it turned out to be pregnancy induced tendonitis. A hand doctor gave me a shot in each of the wrists and the pain went away in a few days.
Avatar m tn Thank you so much for your response. The possibility of a return of the carpal tunnel problem was also suggested by a physiotherapist just a couple of days ago. The lady spent about an hour feeling every part of my wife's right hand and wrist and offered advice that there seemed to be as much or more pain reaction to her inspection of the wrist as there was in the hand bones. Thank you again. I've printed off your message.
Avatar f tn Other differential diagnosis would include carpal tunnel syndrome, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or gout of first metacarapal-phallengeal joint. Take a second opinion and see. An X-ray of the thumb joint, MRI of thumb and wrist, RA factor, thyroid panel, clinical examination, etc will be required for a confirmed diagnosis. Consult an orthopedic specialist. Take care!
Avatar f tn I'm 21 years old and I've been having a lot of pain in my bones in joints. It first started a month or so ago in my knee and elbow. I thought I fell or something and didn't remember. That went away a few days later and then I had pain in my hand and throughout the day I began to feel pain in my other hand then wrist. After a couple days it will go away and pop up somewhere else. I've also had pain in my feet and ankles as well. Any ideas?
Avatar n tn I was reaching for an item on the top shelf and bent my wrist down at 90 degrees. I then bumped my wrist on the edge of the shelf or something and felt a brief pain in the wrist. I didn't think anything of it. My fingers were fine for hours because I washed my hands and pressed on them fine. After a few hours suddenly my index finger tip hurts on that hand and nothing else. The wrist does not hurt.
Avatar m tn t feel) move along the back of my hand, in the pattern of my veins. If I make a fist and move my hand, the wrist pops. Grabbing it and throwing it back to force it to pop gives temporary relief. My hand hurts when typing, but doesn't prevent me from it and the locking isn't permanent; just when I've had my hand in a fist for a long time and then only once. I sleep fine. It hurts when I'm not typing, but only as a dull ache, no numbness, pins/needles, etc.
Avatar m tn After a few days the swelling (lump) went down and movment of the wrist was accompanied by creaking (like a rusty hinge) at the spot of the swelling. A generalized and mild swelling of the hand also was evident and disappaited after a few more days. With my wrist immobilized (tensor bandage/splint) the creaking goes away, with a little light use mild creaking returns. It appears to be a muscle/tendon that is injured.
Avatar f tn However, I was on mobic for my wrist and that did not help at all so I had to get a cortisone shot in my wrist. It seemed to help, but the pain is already back and stronger than ever. Now I have a cold, wet feeling in my thumb. I grabbed a random photo off the Net and circled the place as to where I feel that sort of feeling. I never had the feeling before. I'm also limited on my mobility and my right ankle is pretty swelled up as well.
Avatar f tn If I hold my right hand tightly around my wrist and move it back and forth you can feel a type of friction or clicking, should i buy a wrist brace or see a doctor. Can I continue my serving position.
Avatar f tn I'm 25 was diagnosed with osteoarthritis at 18. Can you get an MRI?
Avatar f tn I am wearing an elastic wrist/hand contraption and it seems to help a little. They gave me a wrist (cast looking thing) but I can't wear it because I can't type with it on and I work in an office on a computer all day. Getting old IS tough....LOL.
Avatar m tn When I woke up my wrist and back of my hand hurt. I had surgery on it a year ago but havent had any problems until now. I am away on internship and my insurence wont cover me to go to a doctor nor will they cover me if I go to emergency. So I let it go thinking I hit it or slept on it wrong. Then saturday it started to swell very badly. A knot/ lump formed centralized on my hand/ wrist area and my wrist became very stiff and sore. I iced it and took it easy trying not to strain it any more.
Avatar f tn Often proper working style, working without bending wrist, using smooth movements to operate the mouse and key pad, and relaxing the joints of finger, wrist and arm in between helps. A wrist support or arm support too helps and you have computer chairs with support for your spine and arm If symptoms persists consult your doctor for an evaluation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I am 53 and recently injured my wrist; finding I had a bone spur/ and strain to my hand...the RA came back neg...the gout neg...but my ANA should be 95 ; it's 500 / Lupus--neg...Does anyone know what might be causing the elevation and palpatations. Raitonlizing all I see is pain / therapy/ meds/ helping little by little, the elevation of ANA is still scary ...Dr. suggests if problem persists, see a rheumatologist. I also have fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn I get sharp, shooting pains across the back of that side of the wrist that run up into the back of the hand and into the lower arm. Sometimes the pain goes all the way across the elbow into my upper arm. But it never goes into the shoulder. The pain is worse with my palm pointing either toward the floor or toward the midline of the body. Rotating the palm upward or away from the midline causes slightly less pain. I do not notice any difference in pain if my elbow is straight or bent.
Avatar n tn Hi. I am a 41 year old woman, healthy but have lots of stress. During the night I woke up with my right hand and right side of my head extremely numb and tingling, ("pins and needles"). It took about 20 minutes for the hand numbness to go away but after 4 hours, I still have numbness in my fingertips. The right side of my head is better but not completely and I have a headache with pressure. I just don't feel right. What could be the cause of this and should I be worried.
Avatar m tn The back of my wrist feels tight, the wrist is easy to pop (and gives relief when it has been) and the central knuckles of my index and ring fingers feel stiff (not all the time). There's no twitching, it hurts even when I'm not typing or using a mouse and there's no numbness. I can feel the muscle between my index finger's base knuckle and the wrist move when I click though, and there's a resulting, momentary twinge of pain.
Avatar f tn My wrist is still painful and I have decrease range of motion plus it pops and cracks a lot. My wrist hand and fingers still swell up really bad especially in the morning. I have tried ice, rest, ibuprofen. Im on await and see approach from dr. currently. Any suggestions on what could be causing so much swelling still. And any input as to what might be going on. Thank you so much for any thoughts!
