Avatar f tn I have Osteoarthritis and it is getting worse. I taken Celebrex, Norco, Tramadol and Vicopren. None of these are working. I don't have insurance and go to a public health clinic. They don't seem to know what to do. Could you please advise me on what I can take that will help with the chronic pain and will be inexpensive.

Avatar n tn Muscle wasting could be due to disuse atrophy like sedentary jobs, medical conditions limiting their movement or decreased activity levels can lose muscle tone and develop atrophy. Other type is neurogenic atrophy, which occurs when there is an injury to or disease of a nerve connecting to the muscle like in polio, guillain barre syndrome or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Avatar f tn yes I can relate.. I have a aggressive case of DDD and Osteoarthritis. I had to have C3-C7 replaced. Both arms, hand and middle of my back were burning. I to also had the popping and cracking of the neck for several years. I could roll my shoulders and everything would pop or crack. Have you had a MRI of your neck?? If not I would say you really need to. My Pain management spec. saved my life by NOT treating me.. sent me back to my Neuro Dr. STAT..
Avatar m tn / I knew my condition was bad b/c of the amount of pain I am in but wasn't expecting that especially @ 32 with a 4 yr old and 7 month old!! Anyways, he adviced pain meds and synvisc-one injections until we couldn't control the pain enough. I tried the injections. I won't lie the are a bit painful. My right one was just uncomfortable. The left one hurt way worse. I have no idea why but it even swelled up and I had to stay off it about 24 hours b/c of all the fluid on it.
Avatar n tn I have Osteoarthritis. I've had it for over 20 yeras. Its in my hands. I recently moved to the CSRA area of South Carolina. I have been to FOUR doctors here. They dont listen. They mess with my high blood pressure, my pain management, and Asperger's Syndrone medication. The results have been catastrophic. They want to try all kinds of things, and Im tired of it. I want to go back to the meds that WORK.
Avatar n tn I have had pain in my hips and knees for the past three years i thought i was just overdoing it with walking etc and would stop for a while and start again but in the past three months iv been in terrible pain and had to take pain killers every day i went to my Doctor and he said it probably was osteoarthritis and you can expect that as you get older im a 49 year old female, i was not happy to think that was all i could do put up with it as im a very active person and i found that if i walked i
Avatar f tn I recently had two Epidural Steroid Injections for pain management. It has helped some - about 25-30% increase in functionality. The problem for me is that my Pelvis clunks when I walk causing terrible pain. In all the information I've read I have never seen mention of this with other people. I had a physiotherapist tell me it was a ligament snapping, but I believe its bone's not ligaments. Any ideas?
209987 tn?1451935465 My mom says that her Osteoarthritis does NOT cause her hands to become red, hot, and swollen every morning. She says they become stiff, swollen, and painful. I just read elsewhere that her symptoms are typical of osteoarthritis...mine are not. In fact, the article said that red and hot are not signs of osteoarthritis at all, but they could be symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, major organs shutting down, allergies, etc. My doctor looked at my hands one day and said that I had osteoarthritis...
Avatar m tn osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition. It is caused by the breakdown of cartilage and is often associated with aging. It can be assisted along the way by injuries. There is no cure for osteoarthritis. Treatments include NSAIDs and pain management, maintaining a normal weight and exercise.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have osteoarthritis and bone spurs? How fast do bone spurs grow? Do they grow on the base of the thumb? I have a lump that is hard (and hurts if I press on it) and about the size of a small pea, that was not there in September. In under 2 months this lump grew, and I want to know if it could it be a bone spur, or a rheumatoid nodule. (I have "diffuse osteoarthritis" in my joints and spine) and I am only 58. Does osteoarthritis manifest like this?
Avatar m tn I have been recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my large toe. I believe it is from repeated trauma to that joints having been climbing a local mountain and upon descending much stress is put on that lead foot. I take glucosamine and that's about it, although I do wear insoles in my running shoes that help a bit. There is swelling that doesn't diminish and pain is intermittent. I'm considering checking into surgery and wonder if anyone has any advice about this. Thanks !
Avatar m tn I am prescribed 6 Norco per day for degenerative osteoarthritis and have gotten to the point that I take all or most first thing in the morning just to get going. Lately, I've been taking up to 10 per day total. I started a little over a year ago with 2 Vicodin per day. I feel like I'm on a merry-go-round. I want the pain relief, I want the buzz but I know this is not working. I can't imagine not using something for the pain. Am I just fooling myself?
408795 tn?1324935675 I have extensive Osteoarthritis in my upper back and neck from an accident I was in over 20yrs ago. I had an accident and I broke my right leg and my left arm. As a result my right leg is slightly bowed and therefore around a half inch shorter than my left leg. As a result it has affected my back and neck. Lately my legs have been swelling and itching, mostly the left. I certainly feel it's all related to my right leg injury.
Avatar f tn I do have a history of GERD, cervical disc degeneration at C4-C6 probably exacerbated by that MVA all those yrs ago. I have multiple joint damage sites from osteoarthritis and was on a fairly good regimen of meds for pain and inflammation management. I am currently in the process of getting pre-authorization by medical insurance for a CT scan for lower back for an epidural to deal with persistent sciatica and lower lumbar pain.
8317359 tn?1397621339 Three years ago I was diagnosed with a severe case of osteoarthritis of the spine and I'm told there is NO cure for this medical condition. The doctors have claimed all they can do is treat me for the pain and as of today's date, I have yet to be pain free with this problem. My PCP claims in the 30+ years he has been practicing medicine, he has never seen such a severe case of osteoarthritis as my case? I find that somewhat difficult to believe!
Avatar n tn and Is there any other pain medication that can be administered to help with pain management ?
1459410 tn?1285695005 I have taken ibuprofen for weeks at a time in the past for the osteoarthritis in my jaws. I try to take it sparingly for it now. But I get frequent heartburn and was recently put on cytotec generic, which is supposed to help with stomach lining. I have tried acupuncture, which I thought helped some, herbal heat pack, ice, valium, ibuprofen and wear a flat-planed splint for my jaw osteoarthritis.
Avatar n tn ( Is it possible that osteoarthritis could end my pain-free life at age 30?
Avatar f tn Hello! I’m new to pain management care. I have to have a hip replacement. I have osteoarthritis in my hip and very bad pain in my left hip, buttock, thigh, knee and ankle. I have an appointment for a second opinion next month (the pain management dr referred me to the surgeon), I will decide which doctor to use. I signed the contract. I was prescribed APAP/CODEINE 300MG - 30MG 1 tablet every 12 hours. That dosage didn’t help so I took 3 - 4 a day.
Avatar m tn ‘Line of weight bearing falling anterior to the sacral promontory’ would indicate an abnormal spinal curvature which could be the cause or the result of osteoarthritis. Some degree of osteoarthritis is expected with age which can worsen post-menopause, being overweight, improper posture, lack of physical exercise/ muscle strength, chronic trauma, diabetes etc., which causes degeneration of the joint and associated inflammation that causes pain. The acute injury is unlikely to be related to it.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with tricompartmental changes of osteoarthritis, most pronounced in the medial tibiofemoral and patellofemoral compartments of the left knee. Complex tearing of the medial meniscus. Will I eventually need an artificial knee or is this something I have to live with.
