Avatar m tn 54yr old female, have had this chronic lower back pain that radiates to hip area.I do have arthritis in lower back and hip,but the meds for it does nothing.I stretch every night before bed and every morning before getting out to no avail.I look like I'm 90 yrs old after a pain full ten minutes of trying to get out of bed.I have to inhale to stand up straight(omg the pain) but once I pee and get into kitchen for coffee I'm fine. The only doctor I haven't seen is a nerve doctor.
1378884 tn?1315505845 My guess is you have a low back injury that is irritating the sciatic nerve, which travels down the back of your hip and down your leg. Bone deposits can build up due to altered mechanics in how your walk, sit, stand, etc. after an injury. The old song, "the hip bone's connected to the knee bone" has more than a little truth to it! A foot injury, for example, makes you limp. This puts stress on the adjacent joints, so eventually your knees, hips and back start to hurt, too.
Avatar n tn I am a active 24 year old and have been expierencing aching hips sometimes both at once, sometimes just one and the pain hurts in my lower back and hip,and allso radiated down the back of my thigh and sometimes into my knee when it happens. The hip pain is worse in teh eveing,if i am sitting too long,or too active that dayallso i notice i have the pain when it rains or is cold outside. The pain allso wakes me up at night and interferes with my sleep.
Avatar n tn In your case, as it is already diagnosed as osteoarthritis, there is a possibility of increased inflammation in the hip joint, that could happen due to stress, infection etc. Osteoarthritis of hip is a common degenerative hip joint disorder that tends to affect older people. The main symptom is pain in the buttocks, thigh and calf. Treatment involves rest and antinflammatory drugs until pain subsides. Also antibiotics and hormone terapy can be implicated depending upon the severity.
Avatar f tn I have had some back pain in the past and recently had some lower back pains. Now my back keeps popping (never had this before), it doesn't really hurt when it pops but very uncomfortable. Sometimes I'm feeling a pain between my stomach and abdomen area.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my lower back but wonder why the pain radiates into the hip
Avatar n tn The acute pain has sort of disappeared and now it is a more subtle pain that is located more in the groin area of the hip. I take baby steps and have limited mobility in my right hip and feel a stiffness in my lower back as well. It has really slowed me down and I'm totally depressed because I don't want to live with this pain. I do take either meloxipam or ibuprofen (trying to figure out which works best). Either one helps just a little, but not as much as I would hope.
1175033 tn?1492201228 I went to Shriners hospital when I was 13ish, and one of the doctors there told me that I could need hip replacements by the age of 35. I didnt want to believe him, but now I starting to realize why he said that. I also have noticed reoccurring pains in alot of my joints along with stiffness and muscle spasms. I also have weird bone growths, on my ankle, heel, toe joints, finger joints, Im too young for all this. My sed rate always comes back normal.
Avatar m tn I have been suffering from chronic hip pain for about 8 months. I had THR surgery of my right hip on 1-15-08. I seemed to be recovering at a normal pace until December of 2008. I started experiencing pain in the soft tissue of my right hip. I returned to my orthopedic surgeon for diagnosis. Xrays confirmed the hip was good, to be sure a bone scan was ordered, it also showed that everything appeared normal.
Avatar m tn This is also my excruciating story...so much pain in the tailbone and hip and lower back area. Standing for no more than 10 to 15 minutes. A trip to walmart is torture. I also have barretts esophagus and cannot take any NSAIDS...life can be miserable and It is well for us to keep a good outlook and get plenty of sleep to deal with these pains, but I am hopeful that some day there will be a pain med for me!
Avatar f tn Had a laminectomy in Oct. of 2005 on my lower back. What would cause a sudden loss of feeling in both legs? Has happened twice, once in 2008, and yesterday. Comes on in a split second, long enough to fall down, and feeling comes back almost instantly. Afterwards, my back muscles have a somewhat shaky or weak feeling for a few hours. Have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis, and degenerative disc disease.
Avatar f tn On a plane, you will have to get up at intervals and move around. Bringing knees to chest helps relieve pain in lower back and hips. Keep feet moving. Safe journey. Let us know how you got on.
Avatar m tn For about 2 and a half years now, I have been having pain in my lower back and hio. My ortho sent me for an MRI and he said I had Spondylolisthesis. He treated it with Physical Therapy (which didn't work) and with Pain meds. He retired about a year and a half ago and I can't find someone who will treat me because its a "Chronic Condition. I was finally sent to a pain clinic. The Dr there wants me to have Facet injections and I am so afraid to try that.
Avatar f tn Where the V line begins and wraps around the top of my hip to the back, near my back dimple. It is a pressure pain, on the inner side of the bone, not the outside of the hip, it's hard to explain, but it's as if there is pressure from in-between hip and side, pushing out both ways and I get this pain in both hips and often times it will last anywhere from 30 minutes to hours until I rest or sit down, which sometimes even sitting causes pain.
1448748 tn?1312956208 --- or if not something that would have changed in 5 months something that would progress and be causing low back and hip pain, respond to some anti inflammatory and then suddenly cause severe leg pain that could be generated in the Hips or lower(because I never had any imaging of the hips or lower) oh yeah and yesterday my knee also.. and I have done no strenuous exercise at all Sorry for such a long post.. dont know if anyone can help or not but any help is appreciated.
Avatar f tn You probably have the onset of osteoarthritis which usually is first noticed in the hip, especially when lying on it in bed.
Avatar n tn I agree with Priddy44 with waiting for labs - definitely have to r/o RA....OA most likely would have shown up on xrays....MRI of hips/sacrum/lower spine would also help...you mentioned you've had the pain for a week but have you ever had it before? Did it come on suddenly without notice or injury or was it gradual? No falls/injuries/over-exertion type activities? I hope you're feeling some relief soon!
Avatar m tn m suffering from erectile dysfunction.please help me.i have tightness in my lower back and left hip but no pain now.
Avatar m tn My thoughts are that it could be from the shower cleaner spray that I had been using. I am a 63 year old male with osteoarthritis in the right hip. I have made an appointment to see a dermatologist but that is not until March 1st. Is it safe to wait another month for that appointment ? Thank you for your answers.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry I didn't see your post sooner. I join in welcoming you to our Forum! :) You're definitely in the right place. I'm so sorry to hear of the pain you are in. I can definitely relate to what you are experiencing. Being one that also uses a cane or a walker I understand exactly what you're saying. Have you had them x-ray your hips to check for arthritis?
Avatar f tn How do they determine if you have osteoarthritis or rheumatoid? Have your knees affected the hip joints any?
5902149 tn?1376877360 The first thought that came to my mind was a dislocated hip or impinged nerves in your lower back. In either event, I feel a good chiropractor could be of some benefit, I know mine helps me when I have those issues. If you have a misalignment or pinched nerve, you certainly can have the pains you are having, a few adjustments should have you feeling better in no time. Hope you feel better soon. God bless you.
634723 tn?1222677500 My wife (age 36) has pain in her hip area and lower back that also shoots down her leg and groin. She has the harrington rod in her back as well. This seems to get really bad when its cold and rainy any idea what this could be?
Avatar m tn Could also have been bursitis, periformis syndrome, osteoarthritis of the hip, lower back problems. Very hard to diagnose over the internet. At any rate, this post was 7 years ago now so hopefully the problem has been resolved, but do know, MedHelp doesn't really let us discuss other things than what the forum is about and this one is about STDs. Welcome to the site, though.
Avatar m tn The head of the femur (thigh bone) angles inward at the top. If the pain is elsewhere, like the sides or the back, that is NOT the hip joint but more likely the bursa. Again, seek another opinion from a qualified orthopedic surgeon to see what is going on with his hip. There could be an infection of some kind going on, and he does not want it to settle in his bones, if that's what it is. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Prior to the accident i was very active, worked out at the gym 4-5 times per week, ran 4-5 km 5-6 times per week, played golf, walked, curled, very active... I contine to have pain in the glutes, lower spine, lower back and also sharp pain down the front of the right leg..... I saw a surgen today and left very confused..... He advised me that my pain was from the arthritis that has set in and wants me on medication and to have another xray in 6 months.....
Avatar f tn I have a lot of low back pain, and pain going across my lower back to hips. I had a recent X-ray of both hips and pelvis. Ist said I had degenerative change of the pubic symphysis. and a malalignment of ps. I understand that part. 2nd. Old posttraumatic fragmentation at the left greater trochanter with cortical whiskering of the right greater trochanter superiorly. Scattered degenerative changes of both greater trochanters. I don't understand that.
