Avatar n tn Please check out this website at the University of Maryland Medical Center. It will give you a great overview of alopecia, which I think is what you have. But only your doctor can give you a positive diagnosis. http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/alopecia-000004.htm To the best of my knowledge, alopecia is not a side effect of anxiety/panic, but you should speak with your doctor about this as well. Let us know what you find out, OK? I wish you the best and hope you find a cause and a cure.
587778 tn?1261397118 My parents elected to have my entire leg caste for 6weeks rather than surgery. In the last two months, I began having pain on the inside of my knee that is tender to the touch. Even when I palpate the bone it hurts. My doctor sent me for an X-ray and it reveal mild osteoarthritis.
Avatar f tn What I will say below comes from personal experience and things I have learned from top dentists at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and from geneticists at Johns Hopkins University. There are three forms of dentinogenesis imperfecta (DI). Type 1 is associated with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bone disease). Types 2 and 3 are NOT associated with OI whatsoever. Type 3 is known as the Brandywine variant as it is limited exclusively to a people group in southern Maryland.

Avatar m tn But my doctor is the Chairman of the Hepatology Department at the University of Maryland Medical Center. How was I to know going in that he is an incompetent clinician (there are a host of other issues on which I base that statement)? Because so little is understood about HCV treatment, it's very hard to find people to help you when you do have a problem. God help you if you start this treatment.
667078 tn?1316000935 I live within 1/2 hr of Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland. Both have "MS Centers" I finally got an appointment with Hopkins for May 9th! University of Maryland has yet to return a call - I started calling the day after my dx December 14th. I agree with Alex why is it if this disease is as prevalent as it is supposed to be are there not more places to be seen and to be seen quicker rather than waiting 6 months for an appointment.
Avatar n tn Where are you located? I have Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia as well, and I really like my doctor in Md. They're associated with the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. I've had two catheter ablations so far, and unfortunately had to have a pacemaker implanted as a result of one. However, the docs are always on top of things with me..sometimes to the point where they're annoying! How long ago were you diagnosed?
Avatar f tn i would research who the head of their EP Lab is and then research what their educational history is and if UA is a teaching hospital i would make it clear that it is not okay with your family to prance rotational residents in and out of his room and during the procedure and that you do not want a resident performing any of the procedures....you have to sort of set the ground rules for procedures being done in any teaching hospital or else it gets super stressful.......
Avatar n tn My doctor is sending me to the University of Pennsylvania for my ablation. Does anyone know anything about this hospital?
539694 tn?1434565947 I was kicked out in my last year of Uni, because I failed two courses. Regardless of my diagnosis, I was the only one to blame. I wasn't serious enough, I partied too much, and couldn't focus. Do I blame the school at all? No, I did it, I owned it, and I moved on. Maybe once you've dealt with your addiction and are ready to deal with your illness, you can go back. Especially because you were taking psych courses, not really the most prudent program considering where you are at.

"But we have not been working with a full knowledge of the genetics of rhinoviruses. Now that we have the full complement of known ones, we see there are subfamilies of rhinoviruses clustering together. The hope is that there could be a drug for each subfamily.
Avatar f tn I was actually put on Celebrex by Shands at the University of Florida when I started my second round of treatment. They did this to help keep my RA in check while I was on treatment. I was on Celebrex for 15 months (I was on treatment for 18). The problem with Celebrex is that long term use can be hard on the heart.
Avatar m tn X-rays show lack of fluid in the knee. Thus giving lot of pain. I have tried all sorts of therapies, but to no effect. I am now thinking of either get a shot or replace the knees. The left knee is also on the brink. I have to use pain killers. Please advise about taking a shot if I should take a shot of Synvisc-One. This discussion is related to Changing from Supartz to Synvisc-One shots.
Avatar m tn i was also wondering about the osteoarthritis as my dr told me that i have severe degenerative osteoarthritis of the lower spine (I forgot the numbers), hips, left shoulder and both feet. I had major surgery last summer and mesh was used to attach part of my bowel to my spine. My dr figures that this may have jump-started the arthritis issues. Currently i have probs walking, bending and overall it hurts to be on my feet for more than 20 mins at a time.
Avatar n tn lo Josepha, there's a reasonable chance you have developed arthritis ok....but of course you should confirm with docs. As for meds....the doc may prescribe any number of anti-inflammatories...trial and error for what suits you best really. If you get pain in the area when working it...I suppose the only answer is your body is telling you to give it a rest. If heat relieves the pain then go for it. If the joints are inflamed regularly...well then get anti-inflammatories from doc.
Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
529224 tn?1400648219 If you have pain on rest, or as soon as you start walking, or there is too much of bending of your knees, then you should not waste any time and get the replacement done. However if you have a good walking distance (say more than 2-3 kms), then you will benefit from Synvics injections or a steroid injection also. So you tell me, wht's your walking distance?
Avatar n tn He most certainly needs a neuro-ophthalmology expert perhaps at the University of Iowa Medical School. His case is sad, but also difficult and complex and far beyond what I can do on this forum.
