1131208 tn?1260207946 I too feel as if I am leading the life of an 80 year old. Anyway, the small fracture inside my left hip { NOT a fracture of the hip BONE } did NOT show up on an x-ray !! A bone fracture will show up on an x-ray. When I sustained this fracture to a band of tissue inside my hip it barely even hurt I barely noticed it because it is an injury to soft tissue not bone. However, over time AVN and osteoarthritis can set in ..
Avatar f tn Yes, I have degenerative disk disease throughout my spine. I also have osteoarthritis. I haven't had a fracture in that hip as far as I know. I have bulging disc's at C3-4, a fusion at C4-5 with cadaver bone & titanium plate and screws, a bulg at T8-9.wiwth a hemangioma noted, and bulging disc at L4-5. I also have lots of foraminal and central stenosis. I have never had my knees x-rayed, but imagine changes there too.
Avatar m tn After seeing a podiatrist and having a bone scan it was determined that I had a stress fracture in my cuboid bone. During that time I was in the Army and had already been diagnosed with plantar fascistis, heel spur, bone spur in my ankle, and possible osteoarthritis in my midfoot. The doctor said that I could just wear a boot for 3 weeks and then it would be fine. I got out of the Army a few weeks later and when I returned to the States I saw a podiatrist at the VA as I was still in pain.
1021831 tn?1331605848 I'm a 58 female, have M.S. (for 30 years), osteoarthritis, 2 hip replacements and recently lost my balance in the bathroom & fell on my tailbone, ( nothing cracked or broken), but it does hurt, even in the right groin area . the dr. gave me tylenol #3 and I take ibuprophen to help. Anything I can do to help? Afraid I'm going to fall & break the hip. The right hip was the latest hip replacement done (4 years ago).
Avatar f tn Bone marrow edema is typically a response to an injury such as a fracture or conditions such as osteoarthritis. Bone marrow edema usually resolves itself with rest and physical therapy. Osteitis pubis is a condition in which there’s inflammation where the right and left pubic bones meet at the lower front part of the pelvis. The pelvis is a set of bones that connect the legs to the upper body. It also supports the intestines, bladder, and internal sex organs.
Avatar m tn Based on how I am understanding my test results most of my pain is from hip impingement, not necessarily osteoarthritis. I am uncomfortable sitting for long periods, and recently (last month or so) riding my bike has become occasionally painful both during and after the ride. I have been prescribed meloxicam 15mg daily. I have been taking it for about a week without much relief.
Avatar f tn Consult an orthopaedician for assessment and treatment directed towards it since continuous irritation could hasten osteoarthritis in the hip joint is affected. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar n tn I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
Avatar f tn You probably have the onset of osteoarthritis which usually is first noticed in the hip, especially when lying on it in bed.
Avatar f tn Can Penicillin VK (500mg) treat arthritis pain? Before you say, "no," please read further: I had a back molar crack/fracture. This tooth had a previous root canal so, while there was little pain directly from the tooth, an apparent infection set up. The dentist prescribed Penn VK (500mg) to treat it for five days prior to pulling it and another course of five days after the extraction.
Avatar n tn recently i went to a hip specialist with hip pain and he said i have a hole in my hip bone which is caused by a cyst and wants to do a hip replacement. he said if i don't have it i will be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life cuz the hole will just keep growing..
1175033 tn?1492201228 I went to Shriners hospital when I was 13ish, and one of the doctors there told me that I could need hip replacements by the age of 35. I didnt want to believe him, but now I starting to realize why he said that. I also have noticed reoccurring pains in alot of my joints along with stiffness and muscle spasms. I also have weird bone growths, on my ankle, heel, toe joints, finger joints, Im too young for all this. My sed rate always comes back normal.
Avatar n tn Otjher possibilities are Dehydration or low amounts of potassium, sodium, calcium, or magnesium in the blood, muscle fatigue or strain from overuse, too much exercise, or holding a muscle in the same position for a long time, strain, stress fracture, tendonitis, claudication, osteomyelitis, osteoarthritis and Benign tumors or cysts of the femur or tibia and osteosarcoma. Avatar m tn Closed reduction and internal fixation with 3 cannualted screws I met with an accident 7 weeks ago and as a result I had a neck of femur fracture in my left hip.
Avatar f tn It all depends upon what kind of a fracture it is and where the fracture is. And even if tere is no fracture, there could be plenty of other injuries that could result from a fall that would cause pain in that area, but would not prevent the person from being able to walk. It is really annoying when people state such absolutes without bothering to gather any information to support their assertion. Were any x-rays or MRI images or anything done?
Avatar f tn It is not uncommon, unfortunately, for swelling to occur after a fracture of the extremity like this to flare up long after. But please do have this checked and discuss with your doctor. However, please note that osteoarthritis in and of itself can cause swelling. https://www.webmd.com/osteoarthritis/ostearthritis-of-the-knee-degenerative-arthritis-of-the-knee#1. Do you take any medication for the arthritis or pain?
Avatar n tn Pain and swelling in a single finger can be due to fracture, tendon injury, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, osteoarthritis or due to infection. It is difficult to comment on net. Consult an orthopedic specialist and get an X-ray done to start with. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn Since high school, after running track for 4 yrs, (7 yrs ago) I hav had knee pain. In the last couple of years it has gotten worse, radiating to my hip. It happens when I've been standing or walking too long, or if I'm cold. Could this be a trauma induced osteoarthritis?
Avatar f tn Hi, As you know there is a fracture of vertebra, most of the symptoms like pain, inability to walk are due to the same as there is a compression of the nerves. Along with the spinal fracture, there could be an associated fracture of the hip leading to the swelling of the hip and leg , pain and discomfort on walking. Physiotherapy seems to have aggravated your symptoms. Please go for an X ray of the hip joint and consult an orthopaedic surgeon along with the neurologist.
Avatar n tn Hi--I had an MRI of the right hip due to right hip pain following some recent trauma. The results were (R) hip joint effusion and bone marrow edema involving the neck and head of the femur. The possibility of underlying occult fracture is suggested. All else normal. Recommended to see a orthropedic specialist. Any opinions as to the meaning of these results and what can a orthro M.D. do?

Avatar n tn After having a surgery to fix on particular problem that left me with a whole different problem I went to three other osteo docs. They all advised me to have hip replacement due to osteoarthritis, but I didn't want to do that without trying every other avenue. I recently had a 'live blood analysis' and discovered a tiny organism called 'mycoplasma arthritides' was responsible for my problem. I was told that a trauma like my surgery couild have triggered the organism.
1378884 tn?1315505845 Dull pain along with sharp pain depending on how I move. Pain in inner groin/hip area. Hip occasionally locks up on me when I stand up from a sitting position.
