Avatar m tn Hi, Your symptom of grinding is characteristic of osteoarthritis. If you are having tendon weakness, then it could be patellar sub-luxation or patellar dislocation. When did your pain begin, what were you doing at the time, and what were the initial symptoms? Do you experience any grinding, locking, catching, or giving way of the knee? Are there any positions that make your knee more or less comfortable? What is the quality of your pain (sharp, shooting, dull, etc.)?
Avatar n tn My 5-year old niece in China was diagnosed with DDH since she was about 1 year old. She was wearing Pavlik harness for a year before the doctors got her off the harness. Everybody thinks that she has been cured because she moves freely and has been very active. Recently, an X-ray showed that her femoral head was about 25% larger than that of normal children. The doctors that treated her for DDH said that the location of her hip was normal.
Avatar f tn hi there, the various causes of right shoulder pain are bursitis, biceps tendon rupture, labrum tear, rotator cuff tendonitis, muscle spasm, pinched nerve and shoulder dislocation. Other possibilities are gall bladder disease, or gallstones, liver abscesses, disorders of esophagus; penetrating ulcer in stomach, pancreas, and frozen shoulder is a common cause for stiffness and pain in shoulder. This could also be a sign of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Avatar f tn You probably have the onset of osteoarthritis which usually is first noticed in the hip, especially when lying on it in bed.

1175033 tn?1492201228 I went to Shriners hospital when I was 13ish, and one of the doctors there told me that I could need hip replacements by the age of 35. I didnt want to believe him, but now I starting to realize why he said that. I also have noticed reoccurring pains in alot of my joints along with stiffness and muscle spasms. I also have weird bone growths, on my ankle, heel, toe joints, finger joints, Im too young for all this. My sed rate always comes back normal.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, that hip still dislocates and the last time it did, the ortheopedic surgeon in ER vigorously smashed my femur head through the thigh and hip areas for 4 hours when attempting to reduce it. After that dislocation, I was bruised from the SI up to the neck. Worse, I felt extensive burning and muscle aching and fatiguing in my lower butt and upper thigh when walking. Even with 2 -3 PT sessions and hours of home PT weekly for 4 years, I still get signifiant pain.
Avatar f tn My mother is 70, she broke her hip and has undergone a total hip replacement surgery. 3 weeks after the surgery she suffered a dislocation of the prosthesis. Although there is no fracture and the prosthesis is in good condition, a surgeon has suggested that she needs to undergo a further surgery to modify the prosthesis. This is because, as she suffered a stroke 25 years ago, and has a residual hemiparesis on the hip replacement side, the surgeon thinks that dislocations will reoccur.

Avatar n tn After having a surgery to fix on particular problem that left me with a whole different problem I went to three other osteo docs. They all advised me to have hip replacement due to osteoarthritis, but I didn't want to do that without trying every other avenue. I recently had a 'live blood analysis' and discovered a tiny organism called 'mycoplasma arthritides' was responsible for my problem. I was told that a trauma like my surgery couild have triggered the organism.
Avatar f tn There is an increased propensity for hip dislocation in patients with SMA and includes observation, positioning, skin and perineal care. I think she should be examined for this and an x ray hip would show the pathology. Take care.
Avatar n tn Hi, I can understand from your post that she is indeed having hip pain and radicular pain too. Common causes of hip pain include dislocation, fracture, and osteoarthritis. Axial low back pain with a referral pain pattern may also occur in the hip. It is more common, however, for axial low back pain with referral pain to occur in the buttocks and/or leg(s) in a pattern that is difficult to localize.
Avatar f tn Since high school, after running track for 4 yrs, (7 yrs ago) I hav had knee pain. In the last couple of years it has gotten worse, radiating to my hip. It happens when I've been standing or walking too long, or if I'm cold. Could this be a trauma induced osteoarthritis?
Avatar m tn , but otherwise been considered irrelevant to my overall health. I was given an MRI about three weeks after dislocation and diagnosed with a small hill-Sachs lesion, strains of the joint capsule, and tendonitis. I am now able to move my arm in most directions, however when I flex my bicep my arm has a strong tremor. My grip has been tested and deemed normal and nobody has given me any theory as to what the dent is, or the tremor.
Avatar f tn Thirteen (13) of those surgeries where for hip dislocation. I was born with hip dislocation which was not found until I was about a year and seven months (1yr 7mo). I currently have pins in my hip to keep it together. The other surgery was for limb lengthening and was about 6 years ago. From that surgery everything got worse. My bone won't heal back and I’ve been on crutches ever since.

Avatar f tn I have a 13 year old son with down syndrome. 2 years ago his right hip slipped and had a pin placed. About a year later he begain having knee pain on the other side. Doctors told me that in kids knee pain can be defered from the hip foot ankle or it can be the knee. They kept a close eye on the other hip thinking it may slip also. It is hard for him to accurately express where the pain is.
Avatar m tn m new here, i got my foot drop through an accident while traveling on a commercial bus. I had hip dislocation and nerve injury to my left leg. I just want to know the exercises and the things i have to do to aid recovery. i also want to know and learn how to walk well with my AFO(splint). i would also want to make friends with people that are suffering similar cases too, so that i know am not alone.

1378884 tn?1315505845 Dull pain along with sharp pain depending on how I move. Pain in inner groin/hip area. Hip occasionally locks up on me when I stand up from a sitting position. I just finally recieved the results from the MRI with Contrast a year after the initial injury. I was also diagnosed two years ago with Hashimotos and I do have issues with arthritis although still trying to get a handle on it as I speak. Here is the report: Indication: R hip pain, question labral tear.
Avatar n tn In your case, as it is already diagnosed as osteoarthritis, there is a possibility of increased inflammation in the hip joint, that could happen due to stress, infection etc. Osteoarthritis of hip is a common degenerative hip joint disorder that tends to affect older people. The main symptom is pain in the buttocks, thigh and calf. Treatment involves rest and antinflammatory drugs until pain subsides. Also antibiotics and hormone terapy can be implicated depending upon the severity.
Avatar m tn From your description of symptoms, it appears that this could be due to nerve damage after the hip replacement surgery. Another possibility could be a dislocation of hip that may be causing the muscle spasm. I would suggest consulting your earlier treating doctor first in order to reach at appropriate diagnosis here. In the mean time, try to avoid crossing your legs, do not bend a lot, and should not use a low toilet where you need excessive bending.
Avatar n tn complications and risks arising well after the operation - here the main complications are infection of the artificial joint, loosening of artificial joints free of infection and wear or breakage of components of the prosthesis, and also joint dislocation (the latter happens very rarely in the artificial knee it, unlike artificial hip).
