osteoarthritis

Avatar m tn osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition. It is caused by the breakdown of cartilage and is often associated with aging. It can be assisted along the way by injuries. There is no cure for osteoarthritis. Treatments include NSAIDs and pain management, maintaining a normal weight and exercise.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed in 1997 with Fibromyalgia. I also have severe osteoarthritis, especially in both hands. What am I doing wrong? The doctor told me I'm a very strange case. What's that mean? This discussion is related to TSH declining .
1710955 tn?1309446473 I was dx with hypothyroidism 3 yrs ago, MS last year, and on Monday was dx with osteoarthritis of my left knee and spine, fibro, AND small fiber neuropathy. My neuro is currently running tests to see if there's an underlying cause for the neuropathy. I'm also losing the natural curvature in my neck. It's actually reversing. I'm currently trying to figure out a plan for that. I'm at such a loss for words. I can't help thinking about all of this.

Avatar n tn I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
513154 tn?1340225289 I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!

Avatar f tn I have Osteoarthritis and it is getting worse. I taken Celebrex, Norco, Tramadol and Vicopren. None of these are working. I don't have insurance and go to a public health clinic. They don't seem to know what to do. Could you please advise me on what I can take that will help with the chronic pain and will be inexpensive.
Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
Avatar m tn i was also wondering about the osteoarthritis as my dr told me that i have severe degenerative osteoarthritis of the lower spine (I forgot the numbers), hips, left shoulder and both feet. I had major surgery last summer and mesh was used to attach part of my bowel to my spine. My dr figures that this may have jump-started the arthritis issues. Currently i have probs walking, bending and overall it hurts to be on my feet for more than 20 mins at a time.
Avatar m tn / I knew my condition was bad b/c of the amount of pain I am in but wasn't expecting that especially @ 32 with a 4 yr old and 7 month old!! Anyways, he adviced pain meds and synvisc-one injections until we couldn't control the pain enough. I tried the injections. I won't lie the are a bit painful. My right one was just uncomfortable. The left one hurt way worse. I have no idea why but it even swelled up and I had to stay off it about 24 hours b/c of all the fluid on it.
Avatar f tn I suffer with fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, regenerative disc disease and a couple of other annoying maladies. Recently I have been experiencing more severe pain which is accompanied by hives. Is this something I need to bring up to my doctors or is it just coincidental?? What could be causing the hives. They itch and the area that hurts gets warm. I'm wondering if one has anything to do with the other?
Avatar f tn I add my own welcome to G-grrrl's. Like her, I see you have been through a lot but don't see a clear link between the picture you share and what I know about MS. If your Celiac diagnosis is based on a small bowel biopsy then I wouldn't think there is any question but that it is correct. I hope you haven't given up on the gluten free diet. I know that gluten can "hide" in many places and some people are very sensitive.
268911 tn?1213744781 it has gluten in it. It is also very common for people with Celiacs disease to also be lactose intollerant. Cut out all dairy and wheat products and see what happens. This will be a MAJOR life change for you. Baiscally you will be limited to fresh fruit and vegetables, beef, pork, chicken and fish. You can go to a health food store and purchase "gluten free" oatmeal, pancake mix and other items but they will cost you. The gluten free pasta and bread is NASTY!
Business woman2 Most of the tablet forms will contain Lactose and Gluten. Some of the extended release capsules do not contain neither Gluten nor Lactose. It will help me very much, if I know the dosage form and strength. We might be able to find you a supplier that do not use Lactose and Gluten in its Venlafaxine. Thanks and be well.
1029507 tn?1287714315 I was just wanting to know if anybody else has been on a gluten free diet? My llmd seen something on my blood work that gave him a red flag, my bun was high. he went through all the options with me on what it was not and then said he was 100% sure if i went on this diet i could fire him. i started it last week and my bowel movements are starting to become normal. i just cant wait for my joints to stop hurting me he explained why they were hurting he called it leaky gut.
780647 tn?1304020942 Find alternatives to your normal gluten foods. For example buy gluten free cereals, pasta, and bread (some of these are only found at certain stores). Also read every single label of everything you eat (things you wouldn't expect like soy sauce are not gluten free). Also don't eat out at any restaurants while you are trying the gluten free diet. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Avatar n tn s office, yet I will have undeniable symptoms. Gluten and dairy bind me up something terrible. For someone with IBS prone to diarrhea, gluten and dairy will aggravate the symptoms. This is true, even if allergy tests are negative for gluten and dairy. I also have other food sensitivities. To address food sensitivities that are not detected by allergy tests, it is best to see a naturopath and go through the process of an elimination diet to figure out which foods trigger one's symptoms.
Avatar f tn A lot of people with thyroid problems have problems with gluten, Myself included. I am trying to go gluten free but it is hard I love bread :( . I have noticed when I eat sandwiches ect more than twice a week I bloat up very bad. So the gluten free may help you a lot. Also a note on the swelling. I take Cherry extract capsules for inflammation I have osteoarthritis and they work wonderfully for me. Just and idea for you to try.
Avatar f tn I am scheduled to have orthoscopic knee surgery on my right knee to correct problems I am having related to osteoarthritis. Does this type of surgery prevent osteoarthritis from returning? Is this surgery safe? What is recovery like after surgery? Any information anyone has regarding this topic will be greatly appreciated.
