572651 tn?1530999357 The most recent book by Montel Williams discusses how he feels so much better eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables, and organic too. He also takes many supplements. This "whole foods" approach is supposedly the best dietary approach to chronic disease, though it is very expensive (at least in Delaware) and time consuming as far as food preparation. There is only one problem I have been wondering about.
Avatar f tn Suggest increasing the fiber in your diet, which is whole grains, fruits, and vegetables if you have not already. For whole grains, for example: oatmeal for breakfast, whole wheat breads, oatmeal cookies, bran muffins, whole-wheat pasta, and brown rice. Serve fruit and vegetables in any form, raw or cooked. Salads are great if she will eat it. The most important aspect to increased fiber is increasing your fluid intake.
Avatar n tn You just need a balanced diet like the old days with lots of vegetables, lean protein and fruit. Eat little sugar. Substitute water for all those high-sugar drinks everybody downs in huge quantities. Be aware beer and liquor has calories. You can't just opt out from a healthy diet and eat a single food source like a protein bar or something. Balance, variety, lots of color, home-cooked, not processed and packaged.
599170 tn?1300973893 fast food is not a good diet for a pregnant woman. i know i did crave the big macs and whoppers but i also ate a well balanced diet. have you asked her ob to explain the importance of a well balanced diet to her? that it's what the baby needs? s/he may be able to get through to her.
404138 tn?1308941656 s health and my own, is there a list of foods I can and cannot eat somewhere on the net that is accurate? My diet right now is not the best and I need to change that.
Avatar f tn PHASE 2 IS ON THE HCG DIET. I CAN'T USE CRYSTAL LIGHT OR ANY OF SUGAR FREE DRINKS SO I WAS THINKING SINCE IT HAS NO ARTIFICAL SWEETENERS I COULD SWEETEN IT WITH STEVIA, BUT IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT PHASE 2 OR THE HCG DIET IS THEN THIS REALLY WOULDN'T HELP. THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT THOUGH.
1407457 tn?1281317353 I mean some only allow you 30 carbs a day...which is nothing! And very hard for somebody to live like that. I follow my diet/weight on a site called (without all the spaces) www.m y f i t n e s s p a l.com and I love it! It totals all the amounts of calories, fats, carbs, sugars and almost anything else. Here are a few tips that I picked up while I was at my lowest weight (271 with a weight loss of 62lbs!
1494170 tn?1361750860 MedTV Cirrhosis Diet Similar to people without cirrhosis, people with cirrhosis should limit their intake of fats and eat lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and other heart-healthy foods. However, some diet changes that are unique to those with cirrhosis include limiting salt, eating more calories and protein, and eliminating alcohol. http://digestive-system.emedtv.com/cirrhosis/cirrhosis-diet.
1679858 tn?1346765181 Of course, we all know that eating right is going to help us feel better regardless, but is there any correlation between Chiari and low blood sugar, or Chiari and light headedness due to diet causing more weakness? Or Chiari and brain fog due to diet? I know this is somewhat of a loaded question, but I also know this is the only place I'm going to find an answer! Thanks for any input!
Avatar f tn I had a very bad diet last week eating just about everything I wanted. Shot day is friday and saturday I felt ok, to my surprise. Then sunday I woke w/ a huge headache, nausea that was so bad even my seabands werent working. Monday I was still very sick I even went home an hr after arriving to work. Today is Tue and I'm finally starting to feel better still have a slight headache more residual feeling.
Avatar f tn I am wondering if when you started back to school that you also changed to a more "healthy" diet. Your BM's sound very typical for someone who has gone to a high fiber diet and whose body has not adjusted. I don't know what supplements you are taking, but it is very easy to overdo it and have many of the symptoms you have mentioned. I can find nothing in the literature that suggests that diet can affect cervical dysplasia. Google it to see what I mean.
Avatar m tn s good to see what several people have to say and divide by two. But a basic healthy diet balances protein with lots of colored vegetables and whole grains, preferably not just wheat, which is problematic to digest. To gain weight eating the same healthy diet anyone should eat, just eat an additional meal, and resistance training will help put on muscle. Good luck.
743476 tn?1236614823 I have juvinille diabetes and i am only 16 yrs. old. I know i dont eat right and i am gaining weight but i want to be like all of my friends. I dont take my blood sugar alot either. What should i do?
400099 tn?1282954864 From what I know the only diet that has some backing to actually working is the Ornish diet. If you go to his website and read the information, this very strict regimen or diet, exercise, meditation, etc. has been shown to reduce artherolsclerosis (hardening of the arteries) . That said, most of these diets do have you eating in a healthy way, and our bodies naturally respond to eliminating sugars, white flours, refined foods, animal byproducts, etc.
Avatar f tn Any suggestions would be helpful on what may help his disease or cause further issues. I do know he should eat low fat high fiber diet and exercise. He can't work out right now though bc he had a hernia he needs repaired:( we are seeing his hepatologist Friday to review his results of the mri.
5235065 tn?1369072032 I felt like that too people kept teeling me to eat crackes . . Did not work .
Avatar f tn I was wondering if i should go see a nutritionist to make sure me and the baby are getting adequate nutrition. I have always been a small 110lb and no matter what i eat i never gain any weight. Has anyone gone to see one and was it worth it? Did it make a difference?
Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
Avatar f tn Eat daily high fiber breads and cereals (oatmeal). Some people have claimed that avoiding dairy and gluten in their diet has helped them with their MS; however, there is no clear research evidence. It is a personal choice. Hoped this has helped you.
Avatar f tn Hi! I'll share the 'strange' food preferences I had while I had the virus. I was treated this past summer, successfully, and since then found that my food preferences have changed. I believe those 'weird' things were helping me, while I was infected, but now that I don't have the virus, I no longer like them. You may find them helpful. Here they are: - bay leaf -- I would put 5-7 leaves into ~pint+ of water to boil potatoes and then would drink that water.
6579347 tn?1388502368 Hi, there - I'm entering week 4 of a new treatment plan for newly chronic anxiety (zoloft), and am finally starting to see some improvements. Yay! Due to the anxiety and the meds, I'm appetite was way off for a while, and I dropped several pounds. Being a tiny lady (5'4", 115lbs before anxiety), I didn't have the weight to lose. Now that the anxiety is better, my appetite is returning and I've gained a pound or two back, so progress!
Avatar f tn Oh, you wouldn't believe how many different ways there are to misspell poor old Hashimoto's name! Thus the shortcut "Hashi's". LOL Once you post something, you can't edit it. Don't give it another thought... If your numbers are really right, which means FT4 about the middle of the range and FT3 upper half of range, and you still don't feel right, it might be worth a try.
