Avatar n tn Pulmonary hypertension results from constriction, or tightening, of the blood vessels that supply blood to the lungs. Consequently, it becomes difficult for blood to pass through the lungs, making it harder for the heart to pump blood forward. This stress on the heart leads to ENLARGEMENT of the heart and eventually fluid can build up in the liver and tissues, such as the in the legs. Affected patients can sometimes notice increasing shortness of breath and dizziness".
Avatar f tn It might have been tiny blood vessel disease (microvascular) like you would see in hypertension, migraines, or something like diabetes. But, then (s)he says that the spots could also be from a disease process that attacks and destroys the myelin that wraps the nerve fibers (demyelination). The most common disease that causes this is Mulitple Sclerosis, but there are also many more diseases in which it is seen.

Avatar m tn I understand your concern regarding your symptoms. Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and it causes pain, swelling, and reduced motion in the joints. if there is no pain associated with the joint cracks or pops, this may be caused by the soft tissue in a joint. Knee popping may also occur if the patella is slightly out of alignment, and rubs on the adjacent tissues. Other causes of joint noise is the snapping of tendons or scar tissue over a prominence, or cavitation.
Avatar f tn ANA can be elevated in people without an autoimmune disorder, especially in us women as we get older. There are several other blood tests that would need to be run called Anti-nuclear Antibody Assays (9 different values) as well as C3 & C4 complement. These combined can help determine or rule out an autoimmune disorder. From my understanding Positive ANA + low C3 + low C4 = possible lupus, they must have run at least the C3 & C4 as well because it came back negative for Lupus.
Avatar f tn i have tested my theory many times since the early 1980s. i was born 1952. my first experience with pulmonary hypertension was after an surgery had sodempentathall was my anesthetic .
848743 tn?1268737514 There are different causes of labile hypertension. These include factors such as anxiety attacks, too much consumption of caffeine, salt sensitivity, or stress overload. The causes might be different but the health implication of labile hypertension is the same in all cases- it poses a serious threat to the life of the individual. Hence, it is absolutely necessary to treat this condition.

Avatar f tn A traumatic injury or ankle sprain is common cause of ankle swelling and pain. Other causes are rheumatoid arthritis, gout, vascular obstruction etc.In osteoarthritis there are degenerative changes and damage to the articular cartilage. Diagnosis of osteoarthritis is confirmed by physical examination and X-rays of the ankle joint. Medications like glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate are being used as they are effective in reducing the pain of OA in all joints.
Avatar m tn ‘Line of weight bearing falling anterior to the sacral promontory’ would indicate an abnormal spinal curvature which could be the cause or the result of osteoarthritis. Some degree of osteoarthritis is expected with age which can worsen post-menopause, being overweight, improper posture, lack of physical exercise/ muscle strength, chronic trauma, diabetes etc., which causes degeneration of the joint and associated inflammation that causes pain. The acute injury is unlikely to be related to it.

657653 tn?1224680706 Hi, How are you? Degenerative arthritis is also called osteoarthritis or "wear and tear" arthritis. It is a form of arthritis that causes the gradual breakdown of the cartilage that cushions the joints. Movement then causes the bones to rub against each other, which is painful. Degenerative arthritis is characterized by inflammation, breakdown and eventual loss of the cartilage of the joints. This can be caused by obesity, bad posture, repeated trauma or injury, and overuse.
209987 tn?1451935465 Though misdiagnosis is a possibility, osteoarthritis may need to be considered in the list as well. Other possible causes include allergies, inflammations, RA, autoimmune conditions, connective tissue disorders etc. You may consider a detailed evaluation by a rheumatologist for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management, if required. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn Are there different types of osteoarthritis, or is there a kind that is systemic? What causes osteoarthriti to become diffuse? (I also have stiff sore muscles and feel ill. It is hard for me to walk too long. My muscle symptoms are not diagnosed, and I hope someone can put the pieces together.) Thank you to anyone who can help me.
Avatar m tn You have provided good information about your condition but I can’t tell if you have been diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension or PH (evidence of which may or may not be obvious on a routine Chest X-ray). “Heavy breathing” and a “pounding heart” could be caused by heart or lung disease (including PH) but can also be caused by Anxiety. On the other hand, the symptoms of rapid pulse, cough, and shortness of breath, with minimal exertion, would all be consistent with the diagnosis of PH.
Avatar n tn Causes of knee swelling include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, pseudogout, infection, trauma, and tumors. Causes of generalized swelling (edema) include heart failure, kidney failure, and liver failure (cirrhosis).

1674823 tn?1307263620 I have various diagnosis, sometimes they say it is white coat hypertension, one doctor has said I am not hypertensive and the other that I am borderline but need not take medication. Typical ambulatory studies have produced results like 132/86 135.91 and I get averages around this on my home monitor, and low readings as well like 115. 72 My BP is not consistently raised However that was all before the latest echo.
Avatar n tn If HOCM has been treated the incidence of pulmonary hypertension is usually less. And pulmonary hypertension can be due to other causes also. It may indicate a poorer prognosis, but this depends on the clinical symptoms and others cardiac factors. Regards.
Avatar f tn yes i have uncontrolled hypertension and my bp's a generally between 150's to the 265's ranges and i have palpatation's in my neck it's vert forseful: it also makes heart feellike it's racing and pounding very hard. im dizzy light headed and i also have shortness of breath when i do anything. one of my cardiologist told me that my kidneys may be the reason for my blood pressure being so uncontrolled.
