Avatar f tn I have had mild osteoarthritis in my right hand, of and on. Now I have knee pain, both knees, elbow pain, foot pain (orthotics (4 diff pairs) haven't helped). Not severe enough to take meds. Have been sleeping on a magnetic mat for 3 years. Doesn't seem to help. Have been going to osteopath, masseur, acupuncturist, nutritionist (treating inflammation). No real relief. Other issue (related?) is poor blood circulation (circulatory disorder). Not overweight (120lbs at 5'4.

Avatar m tn Back pain. Was diagnosed with osteoarthritis, my right hand started to go numb in just two fingers now it's my whole arm. Had back x rays showed pinched nerve on l5s1. The most painful part is I have to bend my spine to get relief I'm constantly bending backward to relive pressure. What's this from. I'm 24 male} I'm currently taking naproxen, flexril, lidocain patches, predistone (when needed for swelling).
662727 tn?1225053347 The pain started in my lower back and hips in my late thirties. Ten years later I was finally diagnosed with osteoarthritis after an ex-ray showed severe degeneration of the spine. The disease had now spread through my entire body. After many visits to various specialist the only treatment they could offer was in the form of :Paracetamol 500mg / Dihydrocodeine 20mg to control the pain. I have been taking 6 to 8 tablets a day. the pain never goes away but it does make it more bearable.
Avatar n tn If you have osteoarthritis then have acupuncture for pain relief
1415174 tn?1453243103 They advised me to get a steroid injection into the facet joint for diagnosis and temporary pain relief. My pain is mostly in the glute on left side but do feel some stiffness near the spine. 1. Has anyone had these injections? How bad is the procedure and how long did the relief last (if you got any). Is it worth it? Since the pain is low one day and high the next is that typical? Any suggestions for pain relief.
Avatar m tn The regular arthritis pain increases gradually when the patient is walking and prevents walking altogether after about 15 yards. The grabbing pain is additional to the regular pain. The only relief for the pain is sitting. Lying down, getting up, standing, walking, twisting, reaching, any movement may cause the grabbing pain unexpectedly. It seems to radiate from the spine across the top of the hip and down the right leg.
Avatar m tn I have osteoarthritis all down my back and I have spinal stenosis because of it.
Avatar m tn This seemed to bring on other issues, and my walking problems and pain returned with avengence. My doctor ordered an MRI of my back. The results showed arthritis and some degeneration of my lower spine area. I was referred to a Physiatrist at the clinic, who had me do 4 weeks of ultrasound therapy. The prognosis at the time was a dysfuntional SI joint. The ultrasound was not effective. I was then given an injection into my SI joint, still no relief, my pain actually got worse.

1754908 tn?1312400362 You really should talk to your doctor about this. I'm sure doctors prescribe narcs all the time for your condition but please please be careful. I have a degenerative back condition as well as osteoarthritis and all I can say is careful what you wish for.. I did get prescribed opiates for pain relief and at first I was like you - wow! this is amazing!! What a God send!! Then months later I found myself addicted. By the time I realized my problem I was in too deep.
Avatar n tn The premise is that if the temporary injections provide immediate pain relief, that area can be confirmed as the pain generator. It is a very good diagnostic tool to determine the primary source of pain symptoms. Did he give you a specific name for the injections he is planning to give? I ask for a definite name as there are varied types of injections given and there are subtle differences regarding how and where they are injected.
Avatar f tn If the pains have been with you over many weeks and months, it is likely that you have some form of arthritic condition. If you suffer from osteoarthritis problems in the back, that can give you pain in the back and also referred pain to the legs. If you have been having these pains for a long time, it would be wise to see your doctor. Xrays would confirm whether you have osteoarthritis. The doctor could do blood tests to find out if you have an autoimmune disorder, like rheumatoid, Lupus.
Avatar f tn Hi there! I was diagnosed about 6 months ago with osteoarthritis in my L4/5 and was told it was a moderate case by my GP. I've had back pain going back 10yrs, but they just figured it out recently. My problem is that my doctor is refusing to do pain control even with my CT and Xrays showing up postive. I've told her I'm looking for pain relief and not to get high.
1378884 tn?1315505845 AWESOME answer!. It's what I thought he was doing, ruling out RA. I don't seem to have the typical RA symptoms (which is reassuring) either. I have had to adjust my movement because of the R hip and now am having issues with my Left Knee. Crazy!. Anyway your help will provide me with conversation material with my Doc in a couple weeks. The Prednisone is really not helping the hip or back pain pain as of yet but it's early.
Avatar n tn but I am getting closer to surgery and was wondering if anyone had lower back/leg pain from Chiari that was relieved from decompression surgery? I just have not seen too many people that have it. I do not have a syrnix or tethered cord. I could possibly have spinal stenosis in the lumbar spine, because I have it in my t-spine and c-spine. I am having decompression in a couple weeks, and so hoping that it fixes it.
Avatar m tn For example, had you have known that the heavy wallet you kept for the past 30 years in your right rear pocket couple with driving an automobile with the seat all the way back, plus adding in an extra 20 pounds around the waste is the real problem not the pain in your back. The wallet causing you to sit off center and the driving with your legs straight out forces you to pull on your lower back instead of pulling the seat closer using more of your knees than back might show you some relief.
1415174 tn?1453243103 t easy to get a diagnosis but in the meantime my question was what can I do for pain relief, not a diagnosis. So today I got a muscle relaxer at least. I have been injured 5/5 times by PT's for this problem. So that isn't an option.
Avatar m tn I feel your pain and hope you get relief soon. I am also dealing with horrible lower back and hip pain. Sharp pains going down my legs and even burning or electric feeling in my hips. I had two epidurals and cortisone shots which did nothing for me. I take muscle relaxers, nerve meds and narcotics that still don't help the pain. I am 27 years old and I look like i'm 90 walking around hunched over or with a cane because I am scared I am going to fall again.
1266954 tn?1270217525 For the past years, I have been taking 3-4 7.5/325 Vicodin per day for "total body osteoarthritis". I have tried NSAIDS, aspirin, and Ultram without any relief. Also, because of a previous HA, I want to avoid NSAIDS. When Vicodin was changed from Schedule III to II this year, my GP became more reluctant to continue my 3-4 pill per day "habit" due to regulatory pressure to wean patients completely off opiods of any strength.
15428331 tn?1440590834 Nothing works for my lower back/hip pain. I am doing yoga and stretching exercises but more often than not they aggravate my back even more. Also been trying to walk but the pain in my hips is often so intense I sometimes can't even finish grocery shopping without having to take a break. In so desperate. I want to function normally and live life. I cannot do certain parts of my job so I am in danger of losing it. I don't want to go on disability. Doctors seem to minimize my pain.
Avatar m tn When you say you have been diagnosed with arthritis in your big toe, is this osteoarthritis, Gout or a bunion? All these are very painful and are treated differently. There are special medications for gout. Normal pain relief and anti inflammatory drugs, compresses and rest for the foot if this is osteoarthritis. For your migraines these can be triggered off by certain foods, allergy to medications, stress and anxiety.
