Avatar f tn I have had fibromyalgia since a near fatal car accident 10 years ago. I am currently on Celexa and Methadone, and I have gained about 35 lbs. and I can't figure out how to stop it or why it is happening. My pain management doctor is a neurologist, and he just says it is a combination of the meds, menopause, not being as active, but he is not a diet doctor and his main concern is my pain. Is there another combination of meds that doesn't do this?
16411434 tn?1447717985 I ONLY GOT IT ONCE BECAUSE IN THE 3 MONTHS AFTER I GOT IT I GAINED OVER 70 LBS. I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE WEIGHT GAIN AND STARTED BEING EVEN MORE ACTIVE AND EATING BETTER. BEFORE THE DEPO SHOT I WALKED 6 MILES A DAY AND DID CALISTHENICS EVERY MORNING AND NIGHT. I GAINED EVEN MORE WEIGHT AFTER THAT 3 MONTH PERIOD AND NOW AT 250 LBS., OVER 100 LBS.

Avatar f tn Hi. I also have exercise induced asthma as well as being bipolar. My therapist recommended to me that when I feel like doing nothing at all, that is the most important time for me to be active. Even if it's only for ten minutes a day. If you stick to it I promise you will gain more motivation as well as a sense of accomplishment. Don't beat yourself up just because you didn't accomplish all you would have liked to have done. Baby steps are key.
1176578 tn?1263753089 I have made a commitment this year to curb my emotional eating and follow a very strict exercise routine (walking, yoga, stationary bike and strengthening/stretching exercises) and do my best to get this weight off now! My question is, could the joint stiffness in the night and mornings be related to osteoarthritis? Or could it be signs of RA? I see my family doc (first check up in 4 years in a couple of weeks) and I'd like to know the right tests to ask for.
Avatar f tn Speaking as a 20 year old woman in college, your post makes me sick. I understand if you're concerned about her emotional health (if she feels insecure or what have you) but if she does not and is healthy, then why isn't she equally as beautiful? I have been in treatment for anorexia and met plenty of girls who flipped on my side of the coin and back on binge eating because of the stress of their parents to lose weight.
Avatar f tn Excessive body weight is associated with various diseases, particularly cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus type 2, obstructive sleep apnea, certain types of cancer, and osteoarthritis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obesity#Management The main treatment for obesity consists of eating less and exercising more.Medications may also be used. There are two commonly prescribed medications for obesity.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have everything you have so I know how you are suffering. Relafen didn't do anything for my pain, plus it's bad to take any NSAID drug if you have high blood pressure. My cardiologist doesn't want me to take it. Sometimes I do use Advil, but not every day. Tylenol sometimes, but it doesn't do much either. I refuse to take Lyrica because of the weight gain thing. I am already overweight, which is bad for my bp. With my fibro, I get hand pain.
1655449 tn?1302089876 I have numerous medical conditions including bipolar disorder, depression, social anxiety, osteoarthritis, degenerative disc disease, spondylosis, and spondylothesis.I take Depakote and Xanax for the mental illnesses.I also had gastric bypass surgery 9 years ago.My pre surgery weight was 379 and within 1 1/2 years I got down to 180.After being diagnosed bipolar 3 years ago and starting the Depakote,I gained back 70 lbs which has put a major strain on my back condition.
1175033 tn?1492201228 Sure you can do the hula! I've done hula on a couple vacations to Hawaii! ;) You can do just about anything you want as long as it's not high impact - no jumping or long distance running, for example. You can walk, hike, bike, do low impact aerobic exercise, yoga (carefully - certain positions you'll want to avoid), tai chi, swim, light weight training, etc. You'll probably be told not to lift anything heavier than 20 or 30 pounds, and to be careful to avoid falls.
Avatar f tn t been tested for lupus in 20 years, which is something that my old endocrinologist always did (periodically). Due to the tremendous weight gain, I am now diabetic and am experiencing sudden and extreme edema & foot & leg neuropathy which I've been given lasix and potassium for. I also have glaucoma (onset @ 40yrs) and osteoarthritis (onset at 31 years).
Avatar f tn I need to lose 80 lbs. and have osteoarthritis. I've been on a low carb diet twice and both times the arthritis has flared and become quite painful. I think it's an excess of protein. How else can I lose weight? I can't stand being hungry and have good weight loss results with low carb. Help please!
Avatar n tn I am concerned with weight gain with the steroid injection. I am to see a pain management doctor in the near future and talk to him about sciatic joint injections. I'm NOT wanting steroids to cause more problems since more than likely these injections will be done the rest of my life. I'm in my mid fifties. I have heard you may get swelling in the face arms and hands.
Avatar n tn I could not bend my knees at all and standing/walking sent the must excruciating pain through my knees. Went to ER and was told that I had an advanced stage of Osteoarthritis. Always ignored the mild knee pain for years because I only noticed it after working out and assumed it was from that...
483733 tn?1326798446 My father was disabled from osteoarthritis when I was a teenager and gave up on life. He just ate and sat in his chair watching TV. He is now morbidly obese and as a consequence greatly suffers even more due to the weight on his joints. I am determined to not let that happen to me and this diagnosis is spurring me to lose the weight and stay active. Do any of you have advice on best exercises for an arthritic body?
Avatar f tn I once weighed 210. I now weigh 162. I have lost 48 lbs very slowly, but when I got this heavy manual labor job, it came off faster. The thing is, I've had to quit due to severe chronic pain. I am a 47 year old female with great blood pressure and glucose levels, but I have an emergency inhaler. I am desperately afraid of losing the ground I have gained in my weight loss. I don't want to be fat anymore.
Avatar m tn Osteoarthritic changes are noted in the margin of the lumbar vertebrate with narrowing of L1, L2 and L5 to sacral 1 disc spaces. Line of weight bearing falls anterior to the sacral promontory. I hope you can enlighten me on this. What does the this mean, please? Thank you very much.
Avatar f tn In the past few months pain and swelling has increased which I attributed to less exercise and some weight gain, about 4 or 5 pounds. I mentioned this to my pcp at my last checkup, but she didn't recommend any follow up but suggested that my arthritis is probably going to be my biggest problem. I also have had trouble with my feet and podiatrist has fitted me with new orthoses which I've been using about a month.
532065 tn?1213149801 ve always taken my Synthroid. I never miss taking my medication. Now I have osteoarthritis and it is rapiedly getting worse. In the past year my dr has lowered my dose from .125 daily to .112. Since then I have gained weight and the arthritis in my fingers is getting worse very rapidly and I am wondering if there is a link between the two. I know that the Hashimoto's disease affects my autoimmune system do you think that it can be making my arthritis worst.
1033596 tn?1252519593 I don't want to play doctor here or anything, but I was in a similar situation for several years. My apartment got broken into, then I moved home, and then my house literally got hit by lightening. I started taking lexapro for the Post-Traumatic Stress. I'd always been a bit of a snacker and stress-eater, but I a burdensome amount of weight from it. I asked my doctor about other alternatives to the Lexapro, and she suggested Welbutrin.
Avatar f tn When I was taking Prozac I didnt gain weight.Paxcel made me gain some though.
