Avatar f tn I had that about a week ago I garguled salt water, ate soup & popcyles, and I drank lots of water and hot decaf tea. It really helped me. Hope you feel better!
Avatar m tn Osteoarthritic changes are noted in the margin of the lumbar vertebrate with narrowing of L1, L2 and L5 to sacral 1 disc spaces. Line of weight bearing falls anterior to the sacral promontory. I hope you can enlighten me on this. What does the this mean, please? Thank you very much.
Avatar n tn t tried it myself yet, only because I HATE taking pills, but have heard a few success stories about Glucosamine and Chondroitin. Another thing you can do is start physical therapy. Strengthening the muscles and tendons around the joints helps to slow the degenerative changes.
Avatar f tn i have had the surgery and i feel ran down and like i have the worse hang over headache ever before and during and after a dramatic weather change exspecially the cold fronts that move in. Its quite common unfortunately. Try drinking a cup of coffee with caffine you will be suprised at how fast it all goes away.

Avatar f tn Oh yes, the colder weather hurts mne all over. We're having cooler weather right now and I'm in the middle of a horrible flare. I also noticed this Summer that the real hot and humid weather hurt me. I haven't been able to get my body regulated.

Avatar f tn This was actually the pinpoint thing that got me into the doctor! I have a lot of trouble when the weather changes. Not necessarily when it's cold and stays cold, but lately in Colorado the weather has been going anywhere from 28 at night to nearly 70 in the day. This DAILY fluctuation is KILLING ME. The only thing that seems to help is sleeping, which I can't do. I find myself trying to be more active on those days, cleaning, walking, anything.
272434 tn?1228607209 I also have carpal tunnel and I have osteoarthritis. Both very painful, and I also need surgery, and I told them not right now. I take a long time to heal, and that alone is enough for me not to have surgery. I also use splints at night, and I have had to cut back on my quilting, but I refuse to stop all together. The osteoarthritis I have in all of my joints as well as RA, I have a triple whammy.
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome, Structural spinal conditions could definitely explain what you've mentioned... "Lumbar spinal stenosis occurs when a nerve root in the lower back is compressed. A person may experience tingling, weakness, or numbness that radiates from the low back into the buttocks, thighs, or groin. These symptoms are often referred to as sciatica, which describe symptoms that travel along the sciatic nerve in the back of the leg.
Avatar f tn I live in south Arkansas and right now our weather is crazy. When it is going to be a cold snap, I hurt very badly. When a storm starts moving in I am very tired, even more so than usual. Just wondering if anyone has this problem and how do you deal with it.
980510 tn?1282010946 Hi Lisa...yeah, we did have a few threads on this b4, but the temp and weather changes get to me....I get HA's as the barometer drops.....I prefer to be warm than cold.
Avatar m tn X-rays are unable to detect any early changes of osteoarthritis. The pain starts years before appreciable changes can be detected through X-rays. A repetitive tendon injury is a likely diagnosis. Also, it could be osteoarthritis since you have pain in both thumbs. Another possibility is rheumatoid arthritis. Both can cause symmetrical joint involvement. The treatment is rest, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory such as Tylenol, Aleve or Mobic. Take care!
Avatar n tn I sometimes wonder how many diff issues as well as Chiari are affected by the barometer as I do have EDS and weather and temp changes still get me....not as much as b4, but I can tell when we will have a major change or at season changes I am out of commission for a bit.
Avatar f tn Sounds as if you do have RA. Each type of arthritis can be affected by many different things. My knees have RA...they act up in severe weather changes...even in summer. I always know in advance ( in the summer ) when it's about to rain...my knees feel like they have glass shards floating around in them, and I can't walk. My hands have osteo...and if I use them too much they start to swell and hurt...but weather doesn't seem to affect them. And yes...you can have more than one type...
Avatar f tn In osteoarthritis there are degenerative changes and damage to the articular cartilage. Diagnosis of osteoarthritis is confirmed by physical examination and X-rays of the ankle joint. Medications like glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate are being used as they are effective in reducing the pain of OA in all joints. Physical therapy plays an important role in the treatment plan of osteoarthritis. If you are not satisfied seeking second opinion will help. Do keep me posted. Take care and regards!
Avatar f tn You did good. Every time the weather changes, my pain level goes up. Doesn't matter if it's a good or bad change either.
Avatar f tn Hello, Yes, any weather change can affect arthritis. I have Osteoarthritis in my spine and my shoulder. Also, Fibromyalgia can be diagnosed by a Neurologist and in some ways in makes more sense, but since Rheumatologists have set the criteria for diagnosing and treatment, it is much better to at least be seen by a Rheumatologist for the initial diagnosis and treatment suggestion. Sometimes other types of doctors opinions do not hold up in court if you ever were to have to file for disability.
Avatar f tn It looked like a lip gloss, had no smell and I just took it and looked at it. there was no odour but I suddenly had a choking feeling and couldn't catch my breath. this has happened before when someone brought me the real smelly stuff so i thought it was the odour. But i didn't know what this was yet. anyone else with that strange reaction? I have another good idea.
Avatar n tn Absolutely get another opinion! Not saying this guy is right or wrong but if what you are hearing doesn't seem right to you something is telling you to find the truth. After having a surgery to fix on particular problem that left me with a whole different problem I went to three other osteo docs. They all advised me to have hip replacement due to osteoarthritis, but I didn't want to do that without trying every other avenue.
Avatar m tn l have been diagnosed with extensive gear changes throughout the lumbar spine with disc space narrowing and facet joint changes. there is mild bilateral sacroiliac joint osteoarthritis. At L2-3 there is a paracentral disc protrusion and severe neuroforaminal stenosis. Where I feel a problem is in my lower left abdomen and my left testicle hurts. They tell me it is the nerves that are being compressed that send these sensations. I also seem to look and feel bloated. My stomach seems to be bulged.
