Avatar m tn My sister, 61 years old, has scoliosis and severe osteoarthritis in her lower back. She endures debilitating pain. Since she is an alcoholic, she is not a candidate for traditional pain killers or opioids. 1. Would Baclofen be a possible treatment for managing her pain? 2. Is it possible that Baclofen might have a secondary, off-label, benefit of being a possible treatment for the alcoholism?
Avatar f tn So hear I sit with the severe pain of osteoarthritis and apparently fractured vertebrae and nobody will treat me. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Besides a trip to the ER?
532065 tn?1213149801 ve always taken my Synthroid. I never miss taking my medication. Now I have osteoarthritis and it is rapiedly getting worse. In the past year my dr has lowered my dose from .125 daily to .112. Since then I have gained weight and the arthritis in my fingers is getting worse very rapidly and I am wondering if there is a link between the two. I know that the Hashimoto's disease affects my autoimmune system do you think that it can be making my arthritis worst.

975931 tn?1250987653 leave it there for a minute or more and see how that feels do it every day. And a really good excerise for scitiatica and to lie down and use your hands to push u up a bit but dont lift your body except ur chest from the ground. IF the pain is down the leg then see if when you do this excerise the pain from the farthest part of your lower back goes up to the thigh or buttock. If it centrelizes then that means its true sciaitica. What other symptoms do you have? Hope you get better.
Avatar f tn I am 25 years old and am being treated for osteoarthritis (fingers, knees, elbows and toes) and mild fibromyalgia. A friend of mine told me about the hypermobility type of EDS. I do have loose ankles that like to give out on me, flat feet, easy bruising, scoliosis, irritable bowel syndrome and hyper mobility in my toes, elbows, fingers and thumbs (they extend farther than they should). However, my skin is not elastic or velvet like. Could this be EDS even without the skin abnormalities?
Avatar m tn I have scoliosis (known for many years now) and I have osteoarthritis in my c-spine due to bad posture and years of cracking my neck.
Avatar n tn Hello, I first noticed this issue with my ribcage in December around the same time I was dx with a dowagers hump, mild adult onset scoliosis in thoracic spine, and osteoarthritis in both of my ac joints (I am 24), so I have been having a rheumatology work up currently. I asked the orthopedic about it who barely touched my ribs and set it was my "rib cage twisting outwards from the scoliosis" so I left it at that and kind of forgot about it.
Avatar f tn Hi all, just wondering how a doctor differentiates between hypermobility and EDS? I was diagnosed several years ago with hypermobility (7/9 on Beighton scale) but I now have excruciating joint and muscle pain for which I take Lyrica. My hips are very lax and slip in and out very easily, I'm forever spraining and twisting things... I also have scoliosis and have had osteoarthritis since I was 18, and degenerative disc disease since my adolescence.

Avatar f tn A recent (and my first) visit to a chiropractor has resulted in my learning that I have lumbar scoliosis and ostoearthritis. After several(5) adjustments (which would help for a bit of the day, but then I'd just feel miserable all over again) I am now experiencing tingling and numbness in mid back just under my shoulder blades like a belt across my back. Should I look into this discomfort or is it something that will change as I go through these adjustments?
Avatar n tn Back in Feb. I had lifted a heavy box wrong and felt my back tweak. I informed my work but they still made me work and lift heavy objects. Finally after working 2 months with this the pain was to much, and was occompanied with partial numbness to the back of the right leg, *** to foot. The MRI came back: Mild dextroscoliosis of the lumbar spine is seen without acute fractures, Dislocations, lytic or blastic defections or congenital anomalies.
Avatar f tn I have scoliosis it has bothered me on and off my whole life I just wanted to know how will that effect me in my labor process I had some serious back pain yesterday so much i had to sit for a hour
Avatar n tn Otjher possibilities are Dehydration or low amounts of potassium, sodium, calcium, or magnesium in the blood, muscle fatigue or strain from overuse, too much exercise, or holding a muscle in the same position for a long time, strain, stress fracture, tendonitis, claudication, osteomyelitis, osteoarthritis and Benign tumors or cysts of the femur or tibia and osteosarcoma. I suggest you to discuss these possibilities with your doctor. Hope it helps.
Avatar n tn I have a slight scoliosis and arnold-chiari malformation. I had surgery about a month ago on the chiari. I would suggest to talk to your daughter's doctor about getting an MRI just to make sure.
Avatar m tn Basically to cut a very long story short I had spinal surgery for scoliosis when I was 17 I was fused from T11 to L3 with a rod and 5 screws... I developed last year osteoarthritis and 2 bulging discs all between L4/5/S1 so had facet joint injections and nerve root blocks. The leg pain went away and I've only had it a little since then on the odd occasion. I have been taking tramadol and have recently come off it..
Avatar n tn if you have scoliosis can you still get pregnant and have a baby! or is it to unsafe??
Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
Avatar f tn I have Osteoarthritis and it is getting worse. I taken Celebrex, Norco, Tramadol and Vicopren. None of these are working. I don't have insurance and go to a public health clinic. They don't seem to know what to do. Could you please advise me on what I can take that will help with the chronic pain and will be inexpensive.
529224 tn?1400648219 The other knee was about to be replaced in 2012 and an emergency came in and my OP was postponed.I took up hill walking, despite it hurt, aquafit twice a week and swimming lengths (not breaststroke!) - which my consultant had suggested before first knee OP, and my knee (despite being in a worse arthritic state than the first knee before OP!) improved - I don't have pain, or instability anymore!
513154 tn?1340225289 I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!
