dear sir from past 6 months i m feeling numbness in both of my hand and feet..can u please help me.
At times the tingling turns into a burning sensation and numbness. I was sent to a neurologist. I had MIRs on my head and upper spine and they both came back fine. The symptoms appear to get worse in the evening and I have had a couple of nights with an upset stomach and hot flashes. Reflexes are normal to slightly diminished and there are no balance issues. There are no vision problems and with the normal MIRs they do not believe it is MS.
and there was severe pain n the legs.bt now the pain has subsided and for the past few days i feel numbness n my right leg..and the numbness n the right leg increases if i sit for a long time..can u pls tell me what i have to do...
The pins and needles and numbness can be from pinched nerves due to arthritic joints in the spine and it sounds like your also have arthritis (probably osteoarthritis) in the knees too. The pins and needles in your feet will be referred from the lower spine problem. I was actually given the amitriptyline for nerve pain in my legs and my knees. I was given citalopram for the depression.
I would suggest you get it examined by the doctor who will probably send you for an xray to see if this is a problem with the bones or whether there is a problem with ligaments and muscles. I feel numbness in both my knees, one is from osteoarthritis due to the inflammation, the better one is due to trappend nerves in the groin called meralgia parasthetica. Only by examination of the knee will you know what is causing your problem. Best wishes.
I searched on google on what i should do but they all recommend that i should go see a doctor. I dont want to see any doctor at the moment, because its really hard driving outside in this weather. its about 8 inches of snow. Took me 30 minutes the other day trying to get out of my parking lot. Not my whole finger is numb. It just a small part of the my middle finger is numb. It has no pain, it has no white or red color. It just normal color. but i when i touch it its numb.
Hi, Thanks for writing in. Pain and numbness in the outer part of the thigh with radiation of pain from hip is usually caused by nerve compression. This can occur due to radiculopathy from herniated disc or due to compression of nerve near the hip region. Degenerative diseases like osteoarthritis, osteoporosis can cause nerve entrapment. Less commonly, chronic meningitis, especially carcinomatous meningitis, produces patchy multiple root dysfunction.
I have for the past 5 years had a hard time sleeping on my right side but now I am having numbness and tingling in both my arms and hands. My right side is worst with numbness, tingling and sometimes pain from my right shoulder blade down to my fingers. (very annoying) Also these symptoms run down my legs to my feet. Scale from 1:10 on pain w/numbness is about an 8 most of the time. When I sit my legs get numb sometimes. It all gets worst at night.
Within 10 days he was completely paralyzed from the waist down and experiences numbness up and down his trunk periodically. He is still in hospital and the only diagnosis (after two neurologists) is an unusual low B12 level. He is now on a cathetar and gives himself bowel self stimulation. He has had three MRi's, cat scans, spinal taps, EEG. He went thru 6 weeks of rehab and came home for 10 minutes and immediately had what we thought was a stroke, but was diagnosed as a focal seizure.
Hello, can osteoarthritis in the hands cause numbness in the fingers, or shocks like feeling at the tips of all the fingers. I have numbness like a sand paper feeling at the tips of all fingers and weakness in my fingers and strength when i play my guitar.

There's also numbness and tingling, some loss of sensation. Before the back pain there were also shooting pains (usually at night) to the base of the skill (just the skull, the bone itself). These have gone away now. There is a history of arthritis; both knees have been replaced. Taking Oxycodone (sp?) for it with mixed results. Sometimes it helps for the whole day and sometimes just for a few hours. It never fully takes the pain away. Also tylenol back pain.
I do not have any pain radiating down my leg, it is confined to buttocks numbness and numbness to my knees when sitting for any length of time. I am a little better in that I can sit about 5 minutes before the numbness sets in whereas previously it was numb the minute I sat down. I am 65 years old and work at Mass General Hosp. in Boston and being treated there. I have an appt. with a neurosurgeon next week but don't know what to think. Surgery would be my absolute last thing to think about.
More recently though, I have developed a lot of numbness and tingling in my arms and hands... Sometimes this extends to my legs and feet. It's often worse at night when I will wake up with stiff elbows or knees which seem to be locked in a bent position and I have to slowly straighten them out. I wake up a lot with numb arms which feel heavy and tingly. This is also beginning to happen during the day, even when I am not leaning on that arm or leg.
I had a laminectomy to remedy the stenosis and a hip replacement to correct 80% bone on bone osteoarthritis.
I had been treated by chiropractor and physician but my condition and pain does not improve. I am also suffering from burning and sour sensation on my tongue and I don't know whether all these are related to my bone. Has any nerve been afftected or compressed? I don't know what kind of specialist to consult anymore! Please help me...
For the past 6 months have had several problems with my neck, back, shoulder, arms and fingers. I have also had numbness in my head and pain that feels like and electrical shock. The doctors diagnosised me with a pinched nerve in my neck, carpal tunnel syndrome and a pinched nerve in my elbow. They also concluded that I had several bulging disk in my neck and a slight case of osteoarthritis. Their solution to my problem was to give me vioxx, nortriptyline and tylenol 3.
I have had severe joint type pain since october that has gotten worse and worse since then and Ive tried physical therapy and I also had a sacro illiac joing injection that seemed to help after 5 days it seemed to help the low back area, but not the hips or legs, then after about 8-9 days I got a little bit of releif through my hips for about 3 days and then all of the pain came back... and now it seems as though I have another type of pain on top of it...
It started after I had an unusually long sleep and I woke up laying on my left side with numbness and pain in my left hip/thigh. This was 2 weeks ago. Ever since then I have been trying to avoid laying on my left side and it seems to help. However after I move in my sleep to my left side, I will wake up hours later in pain. Sleeping on it is the only cause of the numbness however, the numbness will last all of the next day but be less worse in the evenings then it is in the mornings.
In all probability you have osteoarthritis of hip joint due to injury (and not due to aging). You would need to consult an orthopedic specialist for this. Please go through this link to learn more: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/arthritis.html It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
soon thereafter, the same kind of numbness/tingling/flushed feelings spread to my lower legs and feet. ive been having these sensations for the last 9 months and it has made sleeping/working very arduous. i got on a anti-anxiety drug (lexapro) for a while but that only took some of the edge off so i got of it. im now back on just to see if i need more time. additionally, my joints are very sore/inflamed after mild exercise, particularly wrists and knees.
The next morning, I awoke with an intense right-sided headache (behind right eye) which continues now, but last night, I had shooting pains in my right leg and arm. This led to tingling, and my foot began burning with numbness from the knee down. The headache continues this morning, but the numbness and tingling have almost subsided. I have been having these varied symptoms on and off, days and weeks at a time, for the past two years but never all at once and with such sudden intensity.
