Osteoarthritis and nodules

Common Questions and Answers about Osteoarthritis and nodules

osteoarthritis

Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
Avatar f tn Hi there, My mother is a lifelong seamstress and developed osteoarthritis and nodules in her index fingers. I'd definitely get it checked out before the damage gets any worse, especially if the over-the-counter medication isn't doing the job.
Avatar n tn My doctor sent me for tests and I was told that I have 2 or 3 nodules on my thyroid. The doctor said several years ago not to be concerned with them because they were small in size. This year I asked about them again and she told me not to worry about them. My question now is since I'm still having pain and it's now affecting my ear should I inquire about them again? I also believe I'm in early stage menopause.
Avatar f tn Ended up also getting a biopsy due to one suspicious nodule. What really freaked me out is that I have 12 nodules on my right side, and 8 nodules on my left side. My TSH was .97 which is normal. They also drew more blood to check antibodies (I think) and T4. I can't find anywhere online that says what an excessive amt of nodules indicates, if anything at all. I have had sx including dysphasia, night sweats, itchy chin, r ear discomfort at times.
Avatar m tn The common causes of your symptoms could possibly be ganglion cysts, rheumatoid arthritis, tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, osteoarthritis and gout. In rheumatoid arthritis there is morning stiffness, joint pains and nodules under the skin. Ganglion cysts arise from the capsule of a joint or the sheath of a tendon. They are found at different places on the wrist and some ganglion cysts may be painful. Seek the opinion of a healthcare professional.
Avatar n tn Over years or decades, however, the liver can become excessively scarred, developing nodules and thick bands of fibrous tissue (septa) that extend from one area or portal of the liver to another—a condition known as cirrhosis. As cirrhosis sets in, scar tissue replaces working hepatocytes and the basic architecture or structure of the liver changes, affecting the organ’s ability to function. One such change is the obstruction of the normal flow of blood through the liver.
Avatar f tn I have Osteoarthritis and it is getting worse. I taken Celebrex, Norco, Tramadol and Vicopren. None of these are working. I don't have insurance and go to a public health clinic. They don't seem to know what to do. Could you please advise me on what I can take that will help with the chronic pain and will be inexpensive.
529224 tn?1400648219 The other knee was about to be replaced in 2012 and an emergency came in and my OP was postponed.I took up hill walking, despite it hurt, aquafit twice a week and swimming lengths (not breaststroke!) - which my consultant had suggested before first knee OP, and my knee (despite being in a worse arthritic state than the first knee before OP!) improved - I don't have pain, or instability anymore!
513154 tn?1340225289 I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!
Avatar n tn t tried it myself yet, only because I HATE taking pills, but have heard a few success stories about Glucosamine and Chondroitin. Another thing you can do is start physical therapy. Strengthening the muscles and tendons around the joints helps to slow the degenerative changes.
Avatar m tn I have osteoarthritis in my neck moderate and mild in lower back. Can and adjusment help? will they even do an adjustment me? i seem to be losing sensativity in my legs but dont know if iy du to oa in back nad neck.any help would be great. thank you.
Avatar m tn t expecting that especially @ 32 with a 4 yr old and 7 month old!! Anyways, he adviced pain meds and synvisc-one injections until we couldn't control the pain enough. I tried the injections. I won't lie the are a bit painful. My right one was just uncomfortable. The left one hurt way worse. I have no idea why but it even swelled up and I had to stay off it about 24 hours b/c of all the fluid on it.
Avatar n tn I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
Avatar m tn i was also wondering about the osteoarthritis as my dr told me that i have severe degenerative osteoarthritis of the lower spine (I forgot the numbers), hips, left shoulder and both feet. I had major surgery last summer and mesh was used to attach part of my bowel to my spine. My dr figures that this may have jump-started the arthritis issues. Currently i have probs walking, bending and overall it hurts to be on my feet for more than 20 mins at a time.
Avatar f tn Does osteoarthritis generally cause an elevated Sed Rate and and elevated C-Reactive Protein? Anyone have these tests elevated with your condition? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I had breast cancer (double mast) in Aug. 2007. At that time, my bone scans and ct scans showed nodules on my lungs and a spot on my spine. The chemo took care of the lungs, but none of my doctors ordered another bone scan. But they sure ordered the PET scans (for my lungs, I smoke). The PETS have always been good. Then this past October, I had severe pain in my back (thoracic). My oncologist ordered plain old xrays and they concluded it was osteoarthritis.
Avatar f tn Hi,thanks in advance for any responses...much appreciated and my drs. do not know. I've been menopausal since Nov.2011(my last period) and I've been diag.hypothyr.about 3-5 yrs. I'm currently on estrogen patch+progesterone+150 mcg synthroid. Wondering if anyone has had experience with hip (actually where the leg and hip meet)pain that disturbs their sleep? Also on another note wondering the best labs to target any such problems, whether hormone or thyroid related.
Avatar m tn The osteoarthritis may progress slowly over time. Strengthening the muscles that support the neck and cervical spine may lesson symptoms of pain and discomfort. ~•~ Dr. Parks This answer is not intended as and does not substitute for medical advice. 272434 tn?1228607209 I also have carpal tunnel and I have osteoarthritis. Both very painful, and I also need surgery, and I told them not right now. I take a long time to heal, and that alone is enough for me not to have surgery. I also use splints at night, and I have had to cut back on my quilting, but I refuse to stop all together. The osteoarthritis I have in all of my joints as well as RA, I have a triple whammy.
Avatar f tn I have DDD (degenerative Disk Disease) OA grade 4 (osteoarthritis no cartilage left on kneecaps), permanent nerve damage in hands from neck herniated disks, herniated disks up and down spine, fibromyalgia (bad), hypothyroidism, liver and kidney damage, nodules (not cysts) all over my thyroid to point of choking me, fibroid cysts all over my breasts, tumor removed in breast, colon polyps removed 3 times, plantar fibromas on both feet, high blood pressure, depression, anxiety, agoraphobia, IBS,
Avatar m tn Warm and cool compress on the joint will help reduce the pain and inflammation. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications can be taken. Physiotherapy exercises aimed at strengthening the jaw muscles help. Please discuss with his treating doctors. Take care! Avatar f tn Hi there! I was diagnosed about 6 months ago with osteoarthritis in my L4/5 and was told it was a moderate case by my GP. I've had back pain going back 10yrs, but they just figured it out recently. My problem is that my doctor is refusing to do pain control even with my CT and Xrays showing up postive. I've told her I'm looking for pain relief and not to get high.
Avatar n tn HI critterhappy, the only qualifications I have to answer you're question is that I too have osteoarthritis of the lower back and possibly hips...I can't say I've ever heard or felt any 'popping' in my back....this would to me indicated that something is out of alignment perhaps?...do you feel alot of pain when this happens? Does it feel to you as if some bones are rubbing on one another?
1175033 tn?1492201228 Since I found this out I have been doing more research on my history, and I have arthritis in my hips as well. When I was born, my hips were underdeveloped and dislocated. My mom always tells me this story about the doctors telling her to put 3 or so diapers on me to support everything while I was getting more strength in my hips. I went to Shriners hospital when I was 13ish, and one of the doctors there told me that I could need hip replacements by the age of 35.
Avatar f tn d had a follow-up scan on Friday, and it showed several more small nodules, and that the original nodules had grown slightly. My Dr us referring me to a pulmonary Dr. I read that MTX can cause nodules, as can RA. Now I don't know if I should start the MTX today. Help, and thanks!
