Avatar n tn My knee and lower leg have been in pain for a few months now. I believe the pain is from jogging and putting too much pressure on my leg in general. It hurts mostly when I walk or put pressure on it. Resting my leg and taking naproxen and ibprofen to reduce inflammation does not seem to be healing it. Is it possible that this injury will require surgery? What should I do?
11446628 tn?1418298480 I also have pain in my knee and hands, and my fingers are twisting and have knots. My right knee has had pain and swelling for weeks, and this morning it's too painful to walk. I haven't injured it. Recent blood test didn't report rheumatoid arthritis. So what's going on with my knee, and with my hands?
Avatar n tn Any ideas? I have seen multiple doctors and specialists and no one can give me an answer, even my knee specialist has given up!
Avatar m tn I understand your concern regarding your symptoms. Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and it causes pain, swelling, and reduced motion in the joints. if there is no pain associated with the joint cracks or pops, this may be caused by the soft tissue in a joint. Knee popping may also occur if the patella is slightly out of alignment, and rubs on the adjacent tissues. Other causes of joint noise is the snapping of tendons or scar tissue over a prominence, or cavitation.
Avatar m tn Bones spurs growing on your joint is osteoarthritis. I have it on my bad knee. I saw the xray of my knee and could see the cartilage had worn away in part of the knee joint and I could see a little spikey bone sticking down. There is no cure for osteoarthritis, only a replacement of the knee joint if the condition is severe.
1069378 tn?1255215132 , but my knee never healed and in fact the pain has spread to other parts of my knee and my knee swells very easily when I do anything (upright, sitting, sleeping). The MRI shows that my lateral meniscus is torn again and x-rays show I have osteoarthritis. One of the orthopedic surgeons I saw suggested trying Synvisc injections before resorting to surgery, especially since the surgery will involve removing the rest of my lateral meniscus which will in turn worsen the osteoarthritis.
Avatar n tn I've had this knee pain (left and right) for almost a yr already. The symptoms are as follows: Grinding / grating sensation upon flexing the knee. Aching pain at and below the patella. Difficulty straightening the knee. Pain is most servere when putting weight or pressure on it. Pain can be felt when climbing up the stairs, jumping, running and standing for prolonged periods. In addition, pain can be felt behind the knee cap.
Avatar n tn Is the symptoms have been more prominent in the morning, when you put your first step out to work? Take an X ray and if symptoms mimic osteoarthritis then take some pain killers like ibuprofen and glucosamine for better joint lubrication.
Avatar f tn I did take Duloxetine previously for pain (adjunct to the Celebrex) and it did help, but my GP is skeptical that Gabapentin would help even if combined with Duloxetine. Does anyone else have Osteoarthritis and is unable to take NSAIDS and have you found a medication that works? Thanks in advance for your replies.
Avatar m tn Doctors then removed some liquid from right knee and till few days back right leg was fine. But for last 15 days, pain has also started in her right knee. She was continuing feeling some movement and uneasiness in her knees. There is also pain in her ankles and forefoot. These parts normally remain numb. Now both legs have same type of pain and uneasiness. Request you to advice on same.
Avatar n tn This has helped my husbands knee pain and may help you also. Make sure and check with your doctor first though. It is not a prescription drug but it may interfere with other medications so it is best to ask your doctor if you can take it safely.
Avatar f tn I also had the synvisc injections, cortisone injections, arthroscopy twice and my dr said the only cure was the knee replacement, bone on bone etc. When I think about the pain I was in then and the pain I am in now I think the old pain wasnt so bad.
Avatar f tn It could be a ligament or cartilage problem or displacement of the knee cap or even arthritis. There are other medical conditions that can cause knee pain. Do you suffer from gout at all, is the knee inflamed and red or just painful? I would advise you see your doctor for a proper diagnosis. Your doctor may refer you for xray. I have osteoarthritis in both knees, but my right knee is the worst.
Avatar m tn i was also wondering about the osteoarthritis as my dr told me that i have severe degenerative osteoarthritis of the lower spine (I forgot the numbers), hips, left shoulder and both feet. I had major surgery last summer and mesh was used to attach part of my bowel to my spine. My dr figures that this may have jump-started the arthritis issues. Currently i have probs walking, bending and overall it hurts to be on my feet for more than 20 mins at a time.
Avatar n tn I could not bend my knees at all and standing/walking sent the must excruciating pain through my knees. Went to ER and was told that I had an advanced stage of Osteoarthritis. Always ignored the mild knee pain for years because I only noticed it after working out and assumed it was from that...
Avatar n tn My sister had a petela and ligament reconstruction, plsu numerous other things done because of tears etc. found after going into the knee. Less than one week after surgery and after going to Physical therapy twice she started having a burning sensation on the shin below the knee that was operated on.
Avatar f tn I have knee pain and swelling that comes and goes. I have been to an Orthopedic and have had x-rays and MRI. Nothing specific was noted in the x-ray and scan. The Dr suggested orthoscopic surgery to see what he might be able to do. I have not had the surgery. He also suggested I may have osteoarthritis. The pain will come with walking, sometimes very quickly and sometimes not much at all.
Avatar n tn You doctor and physical therapist will be able to assess your risk and guide you regarding the best rehab and use of knee in your case. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
