Avatar n tn I got to spend a short time in Florida the last 2 winters and I found it very agreeable. My husband and I plan to spend 3 months in Florida this winter. I don't know if summer in Florida would be good for me, since really hot weather and high humidity bother me as well.
Avatar m tn Anyway, when I go to the California Desert, the humidity is so low that I end up with serious lung infections, especially because there is no humidity to keep the dirt/dust down....so it ends up in the lungs. In the desert, humidity can get below 40 and 30 degrees humidity, really bad!. I had to buy a VENTA humidifier for my California home in the Coachella Valley area. These are great, by the way, German-made, and don't leave white ****/dust all over furniture; easy to clean, too.
1464587 tn?1307491605 I think any drastic change in weather can cause a spike. I have a lot of issues with inflammation, which I think is very sensitive to changes in humidity. Where I am we are having an Indian Summer with daytime highs in the 80's but chilly (40's) at night, and that is causing me a lot of extra joint pain and stiffness. On the plus side, it has been beautiful out with lots of fall colors! Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar m tn How the humidity (i.e. shower) causes migraine to me? Is the humidity into the head pores? into the sinuses? into the ears? Any advice?
Avatar f tn The humidity according to a temp/humidity gauge I have shows the humidity at 39% and we had two previous days of rain. I thought dust mites needed higher humidity to live?
Avatar m tn Neck and back pain can occur due to other reasons and not just bone problems (degenerative diseases of the spine). Hence it is wise to get a doctor's diagnosis. I do find that having a massage does help to relax the muscles that are causing spasms, but this does not cure any bone problems. Even with bone problems you will experience good and bad days and even the severity can fluctuate within the day.
345124 tn?1234483278 Although there may not be scientific research to back it up - I *definitely* notice an increase in ear fullness, tinnitis and vertigo on hot and particularly higher humidity days. The higher the humidity, the more I'm trying to 'pop' my ears adn the more anti-vert I'm having to take in order to function.
Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
746512 tn?1388807580 What has help is monthly injections and or over the counter allergy medication (Claritin). Everyone is different, but yes, humidity can and for me a dense fog sent me to the emergency room for over 10 hours.
Avatar f tn I have Osteoarthritis and it is getting worse. I taken Celebrex, Norco, Tramadol and Vicopren. None of these are working. I don't have insurance and go to a public health clinic. They don't seem to know what to do. Could you please advise me on what I can take that will help with the chronic pain and will be inexpensive.
529224 tn?1400648219 The other knee was about to be replaced in 2012 and an emergency came in and my OP was postponed.I took up hill walking, despite it hurt, aquafit twice a week and swimming lengths (not breaststroke!) - which my consultant had suggested before first knee OP, and my knee (despite being in a worse arthritic state than the first knee before OP!) improved - I don't have pain, or instability anymore!
513154 tn?1340225289 I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!
Avatar n tn t tried it myself yet, only because I HATE taking pills, but have heard a few success stories about Glucosamine and Chondroitin. Another thing you can do is start physical therapy. Strengthening the muscles and tendons around the joints helps to slow the degenerative changes.
Avatar m tn I have osteoarthritis in my neck moderate and mild in lower back. Can and adjusment help? will they even do an adjustment me? i seem to be losing sensativity in my legs but dont know if iy du to oa in back nad neck.any help would be great. thank you.
Avatar m tn t expecting that especially @ 32 with a 4 yr old and 7 month old!! Anyways, he adviced pain meds and synvisc-one injections until we couldn't control the pain enough. I tried the injections. I won't lie the are a bit painful. My right one was just uncomfortable. The left one hurt way worse. I have no idea why but it even swelled up and I had to stay off it about 24 hours b/c of all the fluid on it.
Avatar n tn I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
Avatar m tn i was also wondering about the osteoarthritis as my dr told me that i have severe degenerative osteoarthritis of the lower spine (I forgot the numbers), hips, left shoulder and both feet. I had major surgery last summer and mesh was used to attach part of my bowel to my spine. My dr figures that this may have jump-started the arthritis issues. Currently i have probs walking, bending and overall it hurts to be on my feet for more than 20 mins at a time.
Avatar f tn Does osteoarthritis generally cause an elevated Sed Rate and and elevated C-Reactive Protein? Anyone have these tests elevated with your condition? Thanks!
Avatar m tn I have CHF and the very last place I would want to be is in a high humidity environment. It seems to make breathing harder for me, versus a cooler environment. Even a hot shower sometimes makes breathing more labored.
Avatar f tn Hi,thanks in advance for any responses...much appreciated and my drs. do not know. I've been menopausal since Nov.2011(my last period) and I've been diag.hypothyr.about 3-5 yrs. I'm currently on estrogen patch+progesterone+150 mcg synthroid. Wondering if anyone has had experience with hip (actually where the leg and hip meet)pain that disturbs their sleep? Also on another note wondering the best labs to target any such problems, whether hormone or thyroid related.
Avatar m tn The osteoarthritis may progress slowly over time. Strengthening the muscles that support the neck and cervical spine may lesson symptoms of pain and discomfort. ~•~ Dr. Parks This answer is not intended as and does not substitute for medical advice. 8214271 tn?1398784144 Many of us with chronic pain are sensitive to changes in temperature, pressure, and humidity. My pain flares when storm systems are moving in and out -- any change in barometric pressure. My pain is also more intense at sea level with high humidity, than it is at altitude -- I live in an arid part of the Rocky Mountains because of that reason. I moved here from California to get away from the humidity, and it's made a big difference in how I feel.
272434 tn?1228607209 I also have carpal tunnel and I have osteoarthritis. Both very painful, and I also need surgery, and I told them not right now. I take a long time to heal, and that alone is enough for me not to have surgery. I also use splints at night, and I have had to cut back on my quilting, but I refuse to stop all together. The osteoarthritis I have in all of my joints as well as RA, I have a triple whammy.
1760800 tn?1406753451 When I was on vacation in July it was warm but there was no humidity. We were hiking and biking and I had no problem. My energy level was great. Back home in NYC, even on days when the temp is OK, the humidity just kills me. After about 45 minutes outside, with the humidity at anything north of 50%, I start to fade.
Avatar f tn 40mg per day taken in the morning. Remember OZ and the humidity and have found the dry climate in AZ a huge improvement. Interesting that you are into natural meds as well and I am also much better than I was 12yrs ago. Have just joined this forum and want to pass on anything that has helped me. I'm 67 now..where did that go? You may be interested in checking out some of my posts for similarity. I'm always looking for new information.
710218 tn?1230645978 The skin of a patient with atopic dermatitis reacts abnormally and easily to irritants, food, and environmental allergens and becomes red, flaky and very itchy. It also becomes vulnerable to surface infections caused by bacteria. The skin on the flexural surfaces of the joints (for example inner sides of elbows and knees) are the most commonly affected regions in people.
