938718 tn?1323783514 Treatment and chemoprophylaxis The currently circulating swine influenza A (H1N1) virus is sensitive to the neuraminidase inhibitor antiviral medications zanamivir and oseltamivir, but is resistant to the adamantane antiviral medications, amantadine and rimantadine. Pregnant women who meet current case-definitions for confirmed, probable or suspected swine influenza A (H1N1) infection should receive empiric antiviral treatment.

688450 tn?1259468734 Oh boy.. I am sorry to hear that... Right now H1N1 is so new so we don't know what to expect... I searched online about H1N1 and pregnancy... Here are some info you might want to read: What are the symptoms of H1N1? Symptoms are like seasonal flu and include the following: Fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headaches, chills and fatigue. Sometimes, it can also include diarrhea and vomiting. When should I get emergency medical care?
982641 tn?1252025412 I recently read an article that said that overuse of antiviral medications like Tamiflu and Relenza could potentially ease the way for drug resistant strains of H1N1. The CDC and WHO are recommending that patients with mild to moderate symptoms should not take antiviral medication. Just a thought.
Avatar f tn s sudden appearance might have been a side effect of TAMIFLU which is now known to rich (oseltamivir substance) the blood-brain barrier and cause irreversible dammages to brain. As a conclusion, TAMIFLU appeared to be responsable of a "medecinal intoxication" causing the narcolepsy-cataplexy I suddenly suffer since then. Several Years after, we hear about narcolepsy cases caused by the massive H1N1 vaccinations...

898849 tn?1241811271 Researchers have also found that overuse of antiviral medications used to treat influenza could ease the way for drug-resistant strains of H1N1. WHO is recommending that patients with mild to moderate symptoms to refrain from taking antiviral medication. You can check it out here....http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/09/01/AR2009090101475.
11062655 tn?1414987783 htm Hepatotoxicity Despite widespread use, there is little evidence that oseltamivir when given orally causes liver injury, either in the form of serum enzyme elevations or clinically apparent liver disease. A proportion of patients with acute influenza A may have minor serum enzyme elevations during the acute illness, but these appear to be independent of therapy and are not exacerbated by osteltamivir.
997730 tn?1254278376 htm#flu-shot Some people should not get the vaccine or should wait You should not get 2009 H1N1 LAIV if you have a severe (life-threatening) allergy to eggs, or to any other substance in the vaccine. Tell the person giving you the vaccine if you have any severe allergies. 2009 H1N1 LAIV should not be given to the following groups.
167 tn?1374173817 ve heard expressed is that if Tamiflu or other antivirals are used without the presence of the virus, then we are just going to end up having a more virilant strain of H1N1 that is resistant to Tamiflu (ie, as in what has happened with the overuse of prescriptions of antibiotics in the absence of bacterial infections). I'm sure the pharmaceutical companies would welcome such a crisis; what a cash cow!
688450 tn?1259468734 HAVE ANY OF YOUR YOUNG CHILDREN EXPERIENCED ANY OF THE ADVERSE REACTIONS TO THE H1N1 VACCINE THAT I HAVE BEEN READING ABOUT ALL OVER THIS FORUM? I HOPE NOT, AND IF SO WHAT KIND OF REMEDIES ARE YOU ADMINISTERING TO THEM? WHAT DOES YOUR PEDIATRICIAN SAY TO DO? HAS ANY OF YOUR DRS. OWNED UP AND ADMITTED THAT IT IS OBVIOUS TO THEM THAT IT IS THE H1N1 VACCINE THAT IS CAUSING THESE SYMPTOMS?
Avatar f tn I got my H1N1 shot at the end of October, I was 18w then... I had no problems at all and I was very glad to get it. I teach and I could see more and more students getting sick every day and sincerely I did not want to risk complications with my LO. I am 36w now. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn Last year, I got both shots and had no problems w/the H1N1 vax. I just wanted to let you know that in case you might be wondering about the H1N1 part. In fact, I really didn't hear of any ill effects in the news from anybody taking the H1N1 shot.
571042 tn?1271447141 Ok can someone explain to me why there is concern over the H1N1 shot? How I understand flu shots in general is they pick the strain that they expect to be bad the following flu season and they use that strain to make the vaccine. I thought they just did the same thing with the H1N1 strain but they have to have it in a different shot because they had already made the seasonal flu shot and they couldn't go back and add the H1N1 to the vaccine. So...
127124 tn?1326735435 My friend is trying to call the companys to find out if products like clorax bleach, clorox anywhere and Lysol spray and wipes kills the H1N1 virus. Do any of you know if these products do? Also if she is spraying toys with Lysol spray should she rinse the toys before letting the kids play with them?
168348 tn?1379357075 Pregnant women who are otherwise healthy have been severely impacted by the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus (formerly called “novel H1N1 flu” or “swine flu”). In comparison to the general population, a greater proportion of pregnant women infected with the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus have been hospitalized. In addition, severe illness and death has occurred in pregnant women.

Avatar n tn Welcome the the forum. No STD can cause these symptoms only 2 days after exposure, and no STD causes such symptoms at any time. You caught a respiratory virus, perhaps influenza, perhaps H1N1 ("swine") flu. If not flu, probably it's just a more severe than average cold virus. It is possible you caught it from your sex partner, but it usually takes 3-5 days for flu or cold symptoms to start. The hot coffee is a coincidence; it did not cause any of this.
478429 tn?1265244387 Soooo, I ended up taking DS to the peds office yesterday. He's had a cough since Sunday and it had gotten a little worse. I think, no biggie...My MIL called and said her boyfriend who got really sick about 2wks ago just got a call from the health dept. saying he tested +ive for whooping cough! Thankfully we got the results back already and DS is negative for it.
363110 tn?1340920419 I had H1N1 a 1 month ago! I had vomiting, no appetite, high fever, extreme body aches and just plain miserable! I took tamiflu which really helped speed up the recovery! I had the flu for 7 days but in those 7 days I lost 7 -8 lbs! Overall, I ended up only losing 1 lb when I went to see the doctor 2 weeks later! I am doing just fine and am glad that I got the flu so that I do not have to get the vaccine!
875512 tn?1245524526 The H1N1 vaccine is not available yet, and I don't think it's even FDA approved yet. I got the flu shot when I was p/g with DS and I will probably get one this pregnancy also. I am iffy about the H1N1 vaccine. I posted a poll on here not to long ago about it and I'm sure you could do a search for it. But for me, I think it's too new of a vaccine especially for p/g woman to recieve it. I don't know though. I'm going to talk to my OB about it at my next appt.
Avatar m tn I just recently had the H1N1 vaccine and the following day my right jaw was swollen. Obvisiously this was a big concern for me considering I just had the H1N1 vaccine the night before. I went to my doctor and he told me its a possibility that I have a stone in salivary gland and recommended that I suck on a lemon and he perscribed me some penicillin and if it gets worse I should see him.
Avatar n tn In light of the current H1N1 epidemic, and because I'm in my sixties, I'm wondering how hard flu is on the heart. I've just recently been diagnosed with PVCs and have about 8000 a day. Since I'll be unable to get that flu vaccine , I'm concerned that the H1N1 flu might really put a strain on my heart and lungs if I'd catch it from my grandkids. What do you think?
Avatar m tn hi can i ask if anyone knoes that will the h1n1 vaccination influence the test of the hiv ( ORALSwab)
Avatar f tn my baby is 9 months and she had the h1n1 shot yesterday..she got fever of of that..then today she vomit once but it was a lot....then i was giving her a bath and she looke like she was falling as sleep..is that normal since she got the h1n1 vaccine? This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/199423'>8 month old baby fainted in my arms and we don't know why</a>.
1004712 tn?1263393948 I am very worried about getting the H1N1/Swine flu! Today one of my friends called me and told me her 3 kids have tested positive for H1N1 and that her doctor told her that 1 out of every 3 pregnant women that get it will die! So now I am like scared to death. I have 3 kids, 2 of them are in school. My oldest son is in 4th grade and the H1N1 is all in the 4th grade. So I pulled them out of school for the rest of the week and then next week they are out for fall break!
