938718 tn?1323783514 However, no adverse effects have been reported among women who received oseltamivir or zanamivir during pregnancy or among infants born to women who have received oseltamivir or zanamivir. Pregnancy should not be considered a contraindication to oseltamivir or zanamivir use. Pregnant women might be at higher risk for severe complications from swine influenza, and the benefits of treatment or chemoprophylaxis with zanamivir or oseltamivir likely outweigh the theoretical risks of antiviral use.
566175 tn?1278430472 Treatment and chemoprophylaxis The currently circulating swine influenza A (H1N1) virus is sensitive to the neuraminidase inhibitor antiviral medications zanamivir and oseltamivir, but is resistant to the adamantane antiviral medications, amantadine and rimantadine. Pregnant women who meet current case-definitions for confirmed, probable or suspected swine influenza A (H1N1) infection should receive empiric antiviral treatment.

11062655 tn?1414987783 htm Hepatotoxicity Despite widespread use, there is little evidence that oseltamivir when given orally causes liver injury, either in the form of serum enzyme elevations or clinically apparent liver disease. A proportion of patients with acute influenza A may have minor serum enzyme elevations during the acute illness, but these appear to be independent of therapy and are not exacerbated by osteltamivir.
874521 tn?1424116797 more 'interesting' reading....for us pet owners..... Avatar f tn s sudden appearance might have been a side effect of TAMIFLU which is now known to rich (oseltamivir substance) the blood-brain barrier and cause irreversible dammages to brain. As a conclusion, TAMIFLU appeared to be responsable of a "medecinal intoxication" causing the narcolepsy-cataplexy I suddenly suffer since then. Several Years after, we hear about narcolepsy cases caused by the massive H1N1 vaccinations...
372366 tn?1284403873 Copyman, I think we have a rhyme for teleprivir now). Ribavirin is not one of those listed. But being a suspicicious person, I have a theory of why riba is not a suggest 'stockpiled' anti-viral. If governments and business were to create significant stockpiles of ribavirin they could be accused of accumulating weapons of mass destruction. And we all know what that could cause.
Avatar f tn Can I ask why your Dr made the change? Was it his idea, or did you feel like you needed it? We don't know what fillers they use in these meds. I would ask my pharmacist. Do the pills look the same, or did your pharmacy switch companies? I get one of my medications at 2 different pharmacies. They're the exact same medication and the exact same dose but they look completely different at one pharmacy. And one pill is bigger than the other so I know it has more fillers in it.
Avatar n tn I cm chemically sensitive and find many creams irritating. I searched on-line to find out the ingredients in pramasone and eletone and could find nothing. I received samples of these from a dermatologist and without the ingredients. I am unable to find them on the web. Is there a site open to the public that lists ingredients? I was also advised to take Zyrtec and wondered if Zyrtec had any more benefit for skin reactions thank Claritin. Claritin didn't help at all.
Avatar n tn Not knowing if this from dust (we just moved) or the med I continued the med for about 2-3 more days getting worse. Then I decided to read the inert ingredients and learned that one of them was lactose monohydrate. Two main foods I cannot have are gluten and caisen (dairy). I was mad pharm companies should know better than to use any ingredient that is one of the top 10 food allergies! From now on before I start any med I am going to make sure I know ALL the inert ingredients.
Avatar m tn if any family members are aged, frail, or have other underlying illnesses, s/he definitely should see a doctor. They may be candidates for oseltamivir (Tamiflu), which speeds recovery and helps prevent complications. Also, even healthy or strong individuals benefit it started early -- anyone who is just starting to become ill (within 2-3 days) should see the doc.

The ingredients that are most worrying in the product is propylparaben, methylparaben, diazolidinyl urea, EDTA which are deemed dangerous and can cause cancer. I have done some research on other products I use and found that these ingredients are in some cetaphil and dermologica products as well. Avatar f tn I know drinking some pop or coffee is okay but I wouldn't recommend any kind of energy drink. Those are horrrrible for you and especially for baby.
Avatar n tn No, but you can look up the safety of the ingredients... Especially the numbing agents. If you're with just one partner and both monogamous, have fun. But, do keep in mind you can still get STDs and oral ones I've read are more difficult to treat so that's an unnecessary stressor on the pregnancy.
