Ortho evra contraceptive patch

Common Questions and Answers about Ortho evra contraceptive patch

ortho-evra

My boyfriend and I always have unprotected sex because I am on the contraceptive patch. We last had sex like 2/3 weeks ago probably 4. I have had a period but I am bloated, gassy, tired and have back and headaches. I also pee alot!
how long does ortho evra stay in your system after you stop taking it? and is it still effective??
another long-term option for you could be to switch to ortho evra, also called "the patch." it has the same hormones at similar levels as oral contraceptives, but all you have to do is wear a small square patch of adhesive and remember to change it every week, instead of having to remember to do something every day. i've been on the patch alone and sexually active with my boyfriend for almost a year and i love it.
Initially I used Diane-35 which was prescribed for acne. I then used the Ortha Evra patch for about 2 years, and then began with the Nuva Ring which I used up until 3 months ago. I have never had children but do have a history of a pituitary prolactinoma which caused me to have high prolactin levels. This was diagnosed in December 2009.
hi im 16 years old and i recently had my period a week later i am bleeding again but its abnormally heavy which is not normal for me because my periods are usually very light and only last 3 days but Ive been bleeding now for four days and im not on my period im not exactly sure whats wrong but im very worried that there could be something very wrong. i am on the birth control ortho evra ( the patch ) and im pretty sure it has nothing to do with that. im just looking for answers!
I am slightly concerned as my period was due today and i normally get cramps the day before. I am on the Ortho Evra birth control patch, and my boyfriend pulls out instead of ejaculation inside me. my period is already one day late and took a pregnancy test (negative). Also i have had lower abdomen cramps for about 11 days, which i was told was a bladder infection, i took the pills and they didn't really do anything.
My OBGYN put me on the ortho evra patch and it went away within 2 months. I have been on the patch for about 2 years now. For the last couple of months I have gotten the very same symptoms again, exactly as before. Spotting 1 week before my period starts, very light. The difference now is that I am on the patch, and was not before. Is it possible to have developed another similar cyst as before even though I am on the contraceptive patch?
Ortho Evra The contraceptive patch is a thin plastic patch -- about the size of a matchbook - that a woman wears on her skin to prevent pregnancy. The patch contains hormones just like the ones in most birth control pills. It releases these hormones through the skin and into the bloodstream. Instead of taking a pill every day, a woman sticks on a new patch each week. The patch works mainly by preventing the ovary from releasing an egg.
I do have other hormonal issues as well that may have been causing some of my symptoms but I've never had my levels tested. I feel much better since starting on ortho evra (contraceptive patch). I have had a lot of menstrual irregularities, miscarriages and ovarian cysts so my OB suggested I try it...I feel worlds better! I still have a few symptoms but nothing that I can't tolerate :).
Hello I am a 28 yr old that has been diagnosed with a DVT and PE since 2003. I suffered this by taking the contraceptive Ortho Evra Patch. My question Is I have been placed on coumadin for life and up until this yr I haven't had a problem. As of now I have had 2 occurances of gross hemuturia. Which is otherwise known as blood in urine. I am unsure as to how to proceed. Should I continue the coumadin and run the risk of bleeding? Or stop coumadin and run the risk of clotting?
I didn't think a woman could get an IUD until she had a baby? That's what my friends' OBGYN told her when she went to get one.
the neutrogena bar for acne with salicylic acid and plain baking soda for a scrub in the shower. The best toner is Clinique level 2 or 3, and there are good reviews on the home microdermabrasian kits at the stores. Just make sure your skin can tolerate all the dryness. Glycoloic acid peels can be done by an esthitician - even I don't spend the money for that either. I do have insurance, so my extra money goes towards buying the birth control and the creams.
My acne cleared up and I didn't have horrible migraines before af. It's called Ortho Evra and I did not gain any weight on it. I actually lost a couple pounds. Last year I got stupid and decided I wanted to try the Implant, Implanon. It was by far the biggest mistake I have made. I gained forty pounds, I turned into a pizza face, and I started having bad cramps. The first month I actually had two periods. I bled when they put it in.
But from the description of that diagnoses, I said that this cannot be whats wrong. So I thought back and I said that it has to be the Ortho Evra. So I thought maybe if I stop using it, it would leave out of my system. But would my hair stop falling out and go back to normal. So I hope we all who are having this problem find the solution to it.
Since I have sensitive skin I can't do the ortho evra so that only leaves the shot. I have read everyone's experiences and I wish everyone the very best. I just wanted to vent and tell about my story.
I want this forum to be really helpful, seriously, because I'm running out of hope. I went on birth control, the Ortho Evra Patch, in about 2002. I stayed on it continuously since this last Sept or Oct, 2010. So 8 years I was on it and was getting it through Planned Parenthood as I don't really make much money. A problem with the funding for my services arose that I could not seem to resolve and was going to have to start paying out of pocket for these once more.
I am on the pill and after the second week when my period was done, I started a new month of birth control (I've been on ortho tri-cyclin for years). I am just now starting my second week of this month's cycle of pills and I have been CRAMPING since day 3. I have had a lot of unprotected sex with my husband during the entire time, and I REALLY don't think I am pregnant, I just want to know why I am cramping so bad when I'm not even close to my period again.
I was on the patch a few years ago. I went off it. Had a tubal pregnancy (lost the baby) and started on yaz (not yasmin) immediately after (aug 2006). i just stopped taking it a couple weeks ago so that i could lose some weight. i'm not due to start my period for another 2 and a half weeks but my breast are really sore, especially my nipples. and i've noticed that i've been very tired lately which is a symptom of pregnancy but could also be that i started going into work an hour earlier.
At the time of the stroke symptoms I had I was using the birth control patch Ortho Evra. I was told by everyone to stop. I did. I haven't had any other kind of episode. No headaches before or after. I had a dull ache in my head while I lost vision and had numbness in my left side in November when I went to the ER. Is there a way to really tell the difference between a TIA and a Complicated headache? My question really is, is it common for a 33 year old to have those complicated headaches?
I have been on birth control pills since age 21. Switched to Evra (patch) at age 28. At age 30, started spotting mid-cycle and on strained bowel movement. This coincided with my moving to Canada and I thought that the patch in Canada might be a different type/ dose, hence causing the mid-cycle bleeding. Family doctor checked my pap results, said there are no problems and to live with it, since it's just an 'annoyance.
Im 19 years old and have been using ortho evra patches since i was 15. I stopped using the patch because of health insurance reasons and my period has been on the haywire since. At first it didnt come for a couple of months but when it did come it lasted for a week and a half. Then it finally went away for a week and then the next week I had light bleeding.
Now I'm on generic Ortho-Tricyclen. Starting my third month of this, and am getting very frustrated, depressed, and aggravated. Lethargic, disgusted with how I feel all the time. Tired when I go to bed, tired when I get up. Exhausted at work and can't afford to miss because I'm divorced and footing all my bills alone. (Complainer's Corner is over here, by the way. LOL) And, Gaiill, the "whooshing" sound you hear is classic of tinnitus, another symptom of menopause.
I got off the patch (ortho-evra) and had really irregular periods for 4 months, but have been 28 days since then. I am 5 days late, 2 negative HPT and am really sad. I feel bloated and a little bit crampy, but no other symptoms. I just found out that my best friend is pregnant after only one month of trying and am over the moon for her, but makes me think something may be wrong with me.
Maybe we all have something in common, like birth control or something like that. I use the ortho evra patch, let's see, what else. KY warming gel, tampax compact tampons, skintaminte shave gel, intuition cucumber-melon razor/soap. Maybe I have it all wrong or something, it could be something that just happens. I haven't been to the doctor for it yet. I just went for a bladder infection a couple weeks ago, but now that I think of it, this was going on durinig my bladder infection too.
This didn't work, so I went on to the contraceptive patch- evra, after trying numerous herbal remedies too. I was using Evra for around 18months & this seemed to not cure me, but help me a lot. However, I had an outbreak of acne, so I was switched to an oral contraceptive, to be taken back to back. Microgynon 30 made my acne worse, so I was put on dianette.
but i have recently got off the patch, it's been five wks, and i had sex 2 days before i started having some bleeding but the bleeding lasted 1day. I've never been late and Ive never had a period for 1 day even before i started taking the patch.Could i be pregnant, and when can i take a test, I can't wait to see if my period will come.
