Common Questions and Answers about Ortho evra and weight gain

ortho-evra

Avatar f tn I have been on Ortho Evra for a year now. I have been diagnosed with PCOS, although, aside from being irregular I haven't ever had any other symptoms with it. I went on Ortho Evra because I was really anemic, and the irregularity was annoying me, so the patches fixed both. I loved it up until the past month or two when I started noticing that I'm becoming crazy. Slowly I've become really paranoid and been thinking really morbid things.
Avatar f tn The Nuva ring is amazing, that's what I'll go back on when I have my baby! I have visual migraines so I have to be on a low dose birth control, and I LOVED my Nuva ring! Most people worry about if they put it in wrong, but I never had an issue with it! Put it in for 3 weeks, and take it out a week! Plus if you want to take it out to have sex the hormones stay in your body for up to 2 hours!
Avatar n tn I just finished my first three weeks of Ortho Evra. I've now had the patch off for 6 days and have not started my period. Is this normal? I had a pap smear and internal exam done 4 days ago...would my doctor have been able to tell if I were pregnant?
Avatar f tn Ortho Evra®, Ovcon® 35, Ortho Tri-Cyclen®, Othro-Cyclen®, Necon® 1/35, Alesse®, Levlite®, Tri-Levlen or Trivora.
Avatar f tn I was in the patch for a while and i gained alot of weight and still got pregnant so if i was you i would go to my doctor and ask for a pregnancy test just to be sure.
Avatar f tn On the contrary I can tell you one I wouldn't recommend!! Ortho-Evra. Horrible. I was only on it for four months because I just couldn't take it, I was severely moody, depressed, low sex drive, and when I went off it, I swear if someone even looked at me funny I was in tears. I believe because it is only a weekly thing there were more hormones than say the Ortho-TriCyclen Lo would have. IMO, I've always felt the lowest dose is probably the best.
7019649 tn?1396792517 I was on the patch, ortho evra, it worked good I guess, I didn't end up pregnant again until I quit using it, I believe I gained weight on it though, its one of the side effects but I seem to be prone to gaining weight every time I'm on birth control.
Avatar f tn The deposit shot is good but the only things are is you can either not have a cycle for three months or it can cause you to have one for the three months straight. And it makes you gain weight I went for 110 to 150 while I was on it for only 6 months.
Avatar n tn I am 19 years old and I am using Ortho Evra patch for contraception and I have been for five months. I have never been pregnant before, but I am beginning to think I have some symptoms even though I have NOT missed or had any late/irregular periods. -I've been feeling a pulse in my stomach especially when I lay down and press on the mid part of my stomach just above the belly button.
Avatar f tn I am currently on the implanon but will be switching to the ortho evra patch . What are some thoughts or opinions on this birth control ? Is there anything bad you experienced or maybe some good effects to it ? ADVICE ?

Avatar f tn So, I started taking Ortho Evra back in 2002 to regulate my cycles, I took it for a couple of years and it worked just fine. I wasn't sexually active so I wasn't needing it to prevent pregnancy. I stopped taking it in 2006. My cycles had been pretty irregular, they were all over the calendar, but this last 10 months, they had been particularly bad, every 20-22 days.
Avatar f tn Hello, All your symptoms are the side effects of the birth control ortho evra patch. The Ortho Evra birth control patch releases a high amount of estrogen into the bloodstream—60% more than from birth control pills—which is known to increase the risk for blood clots. These blood clots occlude the blood vessels as thrombi and if they get dislodged and occlude the blood vessels at some other site, they are called emboli.
Avatar f tn we instantly ran to the store i took plan b within 30 minutes. Im on the birth control patch, Ortho Evra. i am supposed to get my period either today or tomorroe and still nothing. i need some advice, im stressing.
Avatar f tn Hi I'm on Lupron right now, and I'm due for my 4th injection in the beginning of next month. It has not been that bad. I have had hot flashes, night sweats and a sort of achiness, but its bearable. I'm not on the add-back therapy, either. I have not gained any weight, and I can gain weight very easily and I really have to watch my weight all the time. I was 150 pounds when I started and I still am today.
Avatar f tn we instantly ran to the store i took plan b within 30 minutes. Im on the birth control patch, Ortho Evra. i was supposed to get my period and still nothing. i need some advice, im stressing. so my question, how effective is plan B after 30 minutes after sex?
Avatar f tn I took ortho evra for about 4 years and had irregular periods for about a year after i stopped. We have now been ttc for 2 years and are finally seeing a RE next week. My dr gave me progestin pills to help regulate my periods and when that didnt work i took clomid. that did regulate them. I blame my infertility on the patch even though my dr swears it is not to blame. Good luck! Happy to answer any other questions. Maybe my experience can help.
Avatar n tn I'm on the ortho evra patch and I always put it in the same spot. I got a rash in that spot so I moved my patch and that week with the patch on I started my period as I would when not wearing it. I was on it that full time then I took my patch off for my actual period week and was still bleeding. So a total of two weeks on my period. Is this normal when moving the patch to a different part of the body?
Avatar m tn I have had a hormonal imbalance for 2 years (producing too much androgen) and in that time I had gained quite a bit of weight. I am now taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen and have actually begun to FINALLY start losing weight. My weight loss is not much yet, but I was wondering if taking these birth control pills is actually the reason for my weight loss?
364288 tn?1300144506 So thinking about changing my BC to something else! I have been on Depot for the last 6 months. I was on it before I had my kids and loved it. This time around I've been gaining weight and just not loving it like before. I have an appt today to talk to my OB about chaning it. Anyone have any good ideas or are on anything that they love? Would like to know your thoughts on this.
Avatar f tn When I was 18 I finally got on birth control to regulate it. I started on Ortho Tri Cyclin and then switched to Ortho Evra. I was on Ortho Evra for about 5 years and had no difficulties with it and my period became normal. I stopped taking all birth control in August of 2008. I was expecting to have an irregular period again, but it is much worse. On average I've been getting my "period" about every two months, but I bleed much more than that.
Avatar f tn And as for the weight thing...I took it for over two year and never gained any wheight and it dramatically reduced my acne. I have never gained weight from a BCP only the shot (depo) but everyone is different......if it does make you gain weight its supposed to be minor.
Avatar f tn I've been on ortho evra for the first time . But now it is my fourth week ,the week with the patch off . All i wanna know is if my period will come by itself ? & if it doesn't come before i need to put the patch back on what.do i do ? & if it doesn't come is it normal ? I used to have the implanon before nd i didn't get my period at all . Which is why i switched to the patch so that i would be able to ...
Avatar f tn However, over the past few years I believe that ortho-tricylen has caused me to gain weight and feel extra anxious. My pill pack is ending this sunday and I was toying with the idea of stopping my birth control all together to see if the symptoms were indeed from ortho-tricylen. My ideal solution would be to find a pill with lower symptoms but this has stumped my gynecologist and primary physician, as a lower dose pill seems to cause spotting for me.
Avatar f tn I am on the ortho evra patch. I mistook my 3rd week as my patch free week. I had sex before the mistake. But no it's been over a week and still no period. Am I pregnant?
