Common Questions and Answers about Ortho evra and side effects

ortho-evra

Avatar f tn I would never recommend taking Ortho Evra to anyone!!! I was on it for just over a year with no complications when I started to have symptoms like the ones you mentioned. I was convinced someone was going to kill me and I hated being home alone. The symptoms got worse and all of a sudden I had horrible pregnancy symptoms and began having really serious anxiety attacks and was so depressed I couldn't get out of bed.
Avatar f tn I am currently on the implanon but will be switching to the ortho evra patch . What are some thoughts or opinions on this birth control ? Is there anything bad you experienced or maybe some good effects to it ? ADVICE ?
Avatar f tn Hello, All your symptoms are the side effects of the birth control ortho evra patch. The Ortho Evra birth control patch releases a high amount of estrogen into the bloodstream—60% more than from birth control pills—which is known to increase the risk for blood clots. These blood clots occlude the blood vessels as thrombi and if they get dislodged and occlude the blood vessels at some other site, they are called emboli.
Avatar n tn I am 19 years old and I am using Ortho Evra patch for contraception and I have been for five months. I have never been pregnant before, but I am beginning to think I have some symptoms even though I have NOT missed or had any late/irregular periods. -I've been feeling a pulse in my stomach especially when I lay down and press on the mid part of my stomach just above the belly button.
7019649 tn?1396792517 I know I have a while before I decide, but I'd like to start looking at my options now. I didn't do well with the pill. It had very negative side effects for me, so I'm thinking I want to do something that isn't hormonal. My mom got a Mirena and had to have it surgically removed because it migrated, so I'm scared to death of those things, too. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Ortho Evra®, Ovcon® 35, Ortho Tri-Cyclen®, Othro-Cyclen®, Necon® 1/35, Alesse®, Levlite®, Tri-Levlen or Trivora.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm on my second month of ortho evra patches and I think I may be pregnant. I have swollen breast and they're tender, I have veins on my breast, my lower back hurts, I've gotten sick every night for the past two weeks. My period was late last month and it was super light. I'm took a dollar store test and it said neg. I'm thinking maybe my "period" wasn't a period.
Avatar n tn I just finished my first three weeks of Ortho Evra. I've now had the patch off for 6 days and have not started my period. Is this normal? I had a pap smear and internal exam done 4 days ago...would my doctor have been able to tell if I were pregnant?
Avatar f tn On the contrary I can tell you one I wouldn't recommend!! Ortho-Evra. Horrible. I was only on it for four months because I just couldn't take it, I was severely moody, depressed, low sex drive, and when I went off it, I swear if someone even looked at me funny I was in tears. I believe because it is only a weekly thing there were more hormones than say the Ortho-TriCyclen Lo would have. IMO, I've always felt the lowest dose is probably the best.
Avatar f tn There's not much you can do. Did you at least use protection for the first 2 weeks you were on it? BC needs time to become effective in your body, and the patch requires you to use condoms for at least the first 1-2 weeks of starting it. You need to take a pregnancy test and see what it says. However, the symptoms you've described are also side effects of the birth control and DO NOT mean pregnancy.
11195379 tn?1427921527 People need to be aware of blood clotting issues before going on any type of BC and aware of side effects and report them immediately to avoid strokes and other issues. Also, the issue is with newer brands rather than those that have been around for years. Your doctor will know what's best and if you're able to take them.
2177836 tn?1355173877 With my first i used the patch..but all birth control made me feel nauseated and pregnant so after 4 weeks i stopped using it. :/ this one im using mini pill!

Avatar f tn So, I started taking Ortho Evra back in 2002 to regulate my cycles, I took it for a couple of years and it worked just fine. I wasn't sexually active so I wasn't needing it to prevent pregnancy. I stopped taking it in 2006. My cycles had been pretty irregular, they were all over the calendar, but this last 10 months, they had been particularly bad, every 20-22 days.
Avatar f tn we instantly ran to the store i took plan b within 30 minutes. Im on the birth control patch, Ortho Evra. i am supposed to get my period either today or tomorroe and still nothing. i need some advice, im stressing.

Avatar f tn I took ortho evra for about 4 years and had irregular periods for about a year after i stopped. We have now been ttc for 2 years and are finally seeing a RE next week. My dr gave me progestin pills to help regulate my periods and when that didnt work i took clomid. that did regulate them. I blame my infertility on the patch even though my dr swears it is not to blame. Good luck! Happy to answer any other questions. Maybe my experience can help.
Avatar n tn I'm on the ortho evra patch and I always put it in the same spot. I got a rash in that spot so I moved my patch and that week with the patch on I started my period as I would when not wearing it. I was on it that full time then I took my patch off for my actual period week and was still bleeding. So a total of two weeks on my period. Is this normal when moving the patch to a different part of the body?
Avatar n tn Hi I recently had surgery and found out that I have endometriosis, and I'm on Lupron shots too. I'm getting monthly injections, and I'm on my third month. What I do know about trying to conceive after the shots is that you will have to wait for your period to return and that can take a few months. I was not very happy when I found this out. And the side effects are no fun, I have all that you mentioned, but they're totally bearable.
Avatar f tn ve been on ortho evra for a year then me and my fiance decided to have a baby soon. I had an abortion before and now we are having a hard time to get pregnant. On my first pregnancy, i got pregnant as soon as i finished my period and not using the patch. Do you know if the abortion makes me having a hard time now, or is it the patch? please help.
Avatar f tn Talk to your dr about your options after you have baby as some of them you can't use while breastfeeding. I took the contraceptive pill and had to wait til I stopped bf before starting it again. After this baby I'll go back on it again as I've never had any side effects and I'm super good at remembering to take it each day at roughly the same time.
Avatar f tn My suggestion is to google Evra contraceptive patch and see what comes up, specifically possible side effects of Evra contraceptive patch. Based on what you find, I would probably recommend making an appointment with your family doctor. Maybe even changing your method of birth control., just a thought. Of course, your family doctor who knows your medical history is the best person to discuss this issue with. Good luck getting some answers.
Avatar f tn When I was 18 I finally got on birth control to regulate it. I started on Ortho Tri Cyclin and then switched to Ortho Evra. I was on Ortho Evra for about 5 years and had no difficulties with it and my period became normal. I stopped taking all birth control in August of 2008. I was expecting to have an irregular period again, but it is much worse. On average I've been getting my "period" about every two months, but I bleed much more than that.
Avatar f tn I've been on ortho evra for the first time . But now it is my fourth week ,the week with the patch off . All i wanna know is if my period will come by itself ? & if it doesn't come before i need to put the patch back on what.do i do ? & if it doesn't come is it normal ? I used to have the implanon before nd i didn't get my period at all . Which is why i switched to the patch so that i would be able to ...
1619339 tn?1303852237 In January of this year i had a really nasty sinus/upper respiratory infection and was put on first the Z-pak and got worse and it starting traveling to my lungs and then got put on augminton. So i was antibiotics for about a month and during which i was having lots of unprotected sex (i'm a bit of a nympho). When i was finished with the antibiotics i started to have headaches and now I've been cramping for the last 2 weeks....I have NEVER cramped with my periods.
