Orapred asthma

Common Questions and Answers about Orapred asthma

orapred

Avatar f tn He has RAD Reactive Airway Disease which is Asthma when an allergen is present. So, it is not officially called Asthma, but we have all the same items at home that an Asthma patient would require. Mostly on an "as needed" basis. And yes, after exposure, we can be on our nebulizer for days! Worst part of this is he goes from zero to sixty (accelerates fast) with his RAD. His attacks have been pretty bad when he gets them. We carry ORAPRED in a tablet now.
327369 tn?1326119908 Hi there! I am new to this board....I am not new to asthma. My son and daughter have it. My daughter's has usually been pretty easy to control using our plan. However, my son has always had the kind of asthma that scares me. We have been hospitalized three times since 15 months of age. He is three this month. Every single time he gets a chest cold we end up in the ER and he gets pnuemonia so quick.
Avatar n tn My 6 year old woke up one morning a month ago with a constant dry hacking half cough. He has been on Zithromax, pro air inhaler, qvar inhaler, and orapred. Nothing has helped. His lungs are clear so they have ruled out asthma. Now they are referring him to an allergy doctor. How can it be an allergy when he does not have any allergy symptoms? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I have an 8 year old son that takes pulmicort, and just finished Orapred when I noticed a little bump in the back of his head. He scratches it alot, and I was told by the doctor to put cortizone on it. Because he had asthma, he more than likely had eczema. About a week later, his little bump turned into a big knot, and you can see it if he turns to the side. It itches more now that it has gotten bigger. I don't think it is eczema, but who am I? I am not a doctor.
Avatar f tn looking back they think maybe it was asthma all along. She was on Orapred and asthma meds most of her first 10 yrs. Today is she is almost 18 and only needs her inhaler when ill or rigid exercise. Please let us know how you make out and feel free to PM me anytime!
Avatar f tn My daughter has been coughing for a month now, it's not all the time. During this month she has had pink eye and a ear infection. The pink eye went away with meds, the ear infection is now on week 3. She took amoxicillon (the pink one) for 10 days, and now she's starting amoxicillon (the white one) for 10 more days. As for the cough, she has been prescribed 3 different meds for her cough pseudophedrine, prednisone (orapred), albuterol, and now prednisone again.
3023697 tn?1340131407 Will orapred cause a childs behavior to involve into bad behavior? My son is 6 yrs old and was diagnoised with duchanenne muscular dystophy a few monthes back . His behavior has increasingly gotten worse. I think his meds have something to do with it. Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn I have a now 22 month old son who was diagnosed last season with what we presume is asthma based on symptoms. It seems to be viral induced. This season came around and sure enough, when he got a cold it went straight to lungs (wheezing, SOB, coughing) We started inhaled steroid (budesonide), albuterol regimen again. Proved unsuccessful to resolve cough. Round of Orapred proved unsuccessful to resolve cough. After four months we consulted with Pulmonologist.
Avatar n tn Her symptoms are swollen tonsils, puss pockets at times on the tonsils, skin tenderness, puffy face. She has been on Orapred for the inflammation and that seems to help. Just wanted to know if these were any symptoms of that disease.
Avatar f tn I decided to take her to a different allgerist for a second opinion. At this point she was placed on Zyrtec 5mg BID, Orapred 15 mg q daily x 5 days and Triamcinolone cream BID. The plaques were beginning to get better and I have seen some encouraging results regarding them. However, 2 days after finishing the Orapred, she has developed an extremely itchy rash from her neck almost to her knees. The rash is slightly raised and red.
Avatar n tn hello my two years old son has an anemia and now is taking ferrous sulfide 3 bottles he took the first bottle already so befor e the 2 blood test due date he had an allergy asme coughing so his taking liquid ventolin albuterol, and ceron for cough and prednisolone orapred, its ben already 4 days and now i can see under his eyes bruises like sometimes reddish sometimes blue and dark specially at nights.
Avatar n tn My son started doing a similar eye rolling back in Feb. I swear it started after a few doses of Orapred for Croup. Been to pediatrician, neurologist had EEG all came back good. When he rolls his eyes they either go up real quick or up to a side just for a second. I am torn if its a voluntary or involuntary action, sometimes I think he is doing it voluntarily and if thats the case I am not worried, but other times he looks like its involuntary.
Avatar n tn This initially helped w/ the mouth ulcers but the one down my throat got much worse. I was given a Celestone inj and put on Orapred. Also taking Pepsid. Throat neg for strep and mouth ulcers neg for Herpes. This helped for about 3 days but then the pain has come back. I have also gotten a few more ulcers to my tongue and some of my gums are swollen. I have lost 9 pounds since the start of this b/c of the pain to eat.

Avatar n tn My 2 yr old daughter was diagnosed with viral-induced asthma about eight months ago. Her only symptom was a persistent cough, which was worse at night (and slightly after exercise). She was started on salbutamol and flovent, neither of which helped. We saw an allergy/asthma specialist, who gave her Singulair in combination with the salbutamol and flovent. This also didn't work. She was also tested for the "top ten" allergens, and all came back negative.

Avatar f tn Hi, I'm 17 and have been playing the cornett(almost the same as trumpet) for about 9-10 years, and a few years ago I took one of those tests where you breath into some kind of mouthpiece for as long as you can to check if I had asthma. My doctor said I didn't have astham, but since the test basically was doing the same as my hobby I think it might be a stupid way to check.
Avatar f tn I have pretty bad asthma, and it gets worse when I'm pregnant. They won't induce you because of a attack, they will try to give you treatments to keep it under control. Try to keep as cool as you can. I know it's hard to do and to keep it u details control at this point. The end is near! Keep that in mind! My last pregnacy I was induced on due date only because I was on prednisone a few times and had gestational diabetes. They were worried about him getting to big.
Avatar m tn Anything that increases overall health will help asthma - exercise (once you get the exercise asthma under control - may involve taking a puff or two of ventolin before you start), eating healthy - limiting sugar, caffeine, alcohol, fatty foods and increasing vegetables, fruits, lean meat, healthy fats and whole grains. Staying hydrated with water is also very important for asthmatics. Identifying and eliminating your triggers are important - you said exercise or laughing/sneezing.
Avatar n tn My pulmonologist said I might have some "underlying asthma" but didn't say for sure. Does anyone know what this might mean. I forgot to ask him. Stupid, I know. THanks.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have problem with asthma and it getting worse during pregnancy? And other then using an inhaler how did you deal with it? I'm 10 weeks with my third child and having a terrible time breathing never had this happen with my other two pregnancies.

9309926 tn?1405447056 Okay so I am 23 weeks 4 days and for the past 6 days my asthma has been acting up. I have my inhaler and I am using it should I be concerned? I really don't want to go to the hospital due to it being 30 min away from me. Any suggestion to the mommies that have asthma.
Avatar f tn I went to the ER the other night and found out that my asthma (which had been clear for a few years) came back thanks to an infection i got from someone used to work with. We cant afford to get the inhaler i was prescribed. When i have an attack, it takes me a few minutes to be able catch my breath and that is usually when i start to feel like i am about to pass out.
10149512 tn?1408123472 I see you joined Med help recently. Cigarette smoke is an asthma trigger. I know this because I have asthma and if I smell second hand cigarette smoke, I always start coughing and usually have to end up using my asthma inhaler. Did you say your friend uses an asthma pump before smoking a cigarette ? Did you also say that your friend smokes 20 cigarettes a day. So am I to understand that your friend is using his asthma pump before smoking a cigarette and he smokes 20 cigarettes a day ?
