Avatar m tn My husband and I going through the exact same thing. I've had about 20ish spots all over my body, that seems to fade but not entirely go away (For a month and a week, going on two weeks) Although I started Oral Meds late, I'm on day 6 of Terbinafine. I've been taking it day by day. Who would have thought Ringworm would suck so bad :(. We ended up getting it from 2 rescue kittens. They seem to kind of fade, but I can still see them.
Avatar f tn About a month ago, I ended up catching ringworm from 2 new kittens my husband and I took in during Christmas. Each of us have about 20 spots each. My Husband got all of his at once, I "Broke out" for 3 weeks. While they are going down with OTC creams and Natural Remedies (Apple Cider Vinegar + Tea tree oil) I ended up going on Terbinafine because it seems like these things are at a standstill. So I have a few questions: ***Skin that isn't even affected by ringworm is VERY ITCHY.
1652119 tn?1301725969 m now switching over to oral Griesofulvin as the side effects of oral Terbinafine are pretty much unbearable (resembles a cold but with more sneezing ; at times I also get 'breathless' ie my mind feels that my breaths are not supplying O2 to my brain---wierd is'nt it ?).
Avatar n tn My grandson's case sounds so similar to your daughter's. We finally found success with Terbinafine after his ringworm appeared to morph into EAC (ERYTHEMA ANNULARE CENTRIFUGUM). According to his dermatologists, the EAC skin disease was, more than likely, feeding on the ringworm fungus. Treatment was based on hundreds of hours of research, and yet was still somewhat guesswork. But, it worked beautifully for him. It cleared everything up in less than 2weeks.
Avatar n tn My son has redmarks that look like ringworm but we put ringworm meds on the areas hasnt gone away, the middle of the circle is whie and stays white it also has little bumps inside the circle, any idea what this could be
Avatar m tn t have insurance) and she had supposedly diagnosed the problem as ringworm by looking at it, I finished my 2 weeks of an oral Terbinafine prescription, and during the last 2 days of the Terbinafine I started to get an itchy back, 2 sections of my lower back (on the right and left hand side) started to itch, I fought it and never scratched it and woke up today for the rash to be about 5x the size they were the previous evening.
Avatar f tn Is there an over-th-counter medication for ringworm ? I can't get to my dermitologist before New Years and i would like to at least try to get rid on this ringworm.
Avatar m tn I have had this weird semi-whitish spot on the head of my penis for weeks now. So I did some research and I think it might be a penis ringworm. Its not an STD because I'm a virgin. I dont' play sports but I exercise in the gym 3 days a week. And at one time I had to pee all the time but it stopped about 2 and a half weeks ago. So I tried lotirmin ultra with 1% butenafine hydrochloride for a week and a half but I didn't notice any change. So now I have limasil with 1% Terbinafine.
Avatar n tn I have a case of ringworm (I think) around my anus and on my buttcheeks. I tried lamisil cream for 4 weeks with only a slight improvement and then saw my GP. He prescribed ciclopirox which I used for 5 weeks with maybe 25-50% improvement, but it would occasionally flare and come back just as strong. Went back to the GP and he suggested maybe the fungus was almost gone and that it was more inflammation than anything.
Avatar m tn If he has tinea capitis or ring worm of the scalp, he needs oral anti-fungal medicine like Griseofulvin or Terbinafine. My son is dealing with this same problem, and from what I've read and heard from his doctor topical medications don't penetrate the hair follicle to kill the fungus. The selenium sulfide (2.5%) shampoo didn't do much either. Also, don't the use of steroids cause tinea incognito?
Avatar n tn I really would appreciate someone's help with this... History: In Nov 2008 I started getting a rash in the webs between my fingers. I was told by a doctor that it was a fungus and I used OC fungal meds. It cleared up. Right after, my right thumb started to shed skin, and then became very red, blistered, and itchy. My doctor prescribed a variety of steroid creams, all of which did not clear anything up.
Avatar n tn Hello, From the symptoms it looks like a fungal infection or ringworm. Most cases of ringworm respond to over-the-counter products, which contain any of several basic ingredients: miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole. You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients. If the symptoms persist then oral antifungals may be needed. For that you need to consult a dermatologist.
Avatar f tn Application of local antifungal cream(terbinafine, clotrimazole, econazole, ketoconazole, miconazole) and oral antifungal drugs are the mainstay of treatment. You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn She might have ringworm somewhere on her body on in that "area".
1348119 tn?1276619265 My son had ringworm and it took weeks for the anti fungal cream to work. I even took him to the doctor to look at it and he said that it can take 4 to 6 weeks to go away. I found the best antifungal cream for treating ringworm is Lamisil (Terbinafine). You have to apply it three times daily.
Avatar n tn Sounds like ringworm to me.
Avatar n tn In January of this year, I was prescribed Griseofulvin for ringworm after two discolored circular patches were found on the side of my face. I took it for two months straight, but the infection expanded to a large bumpy lesion covered in pimples that enveloped the entire apple of my cheek. I experienced terrible itchy and crawly sensations in the infection. I was down to the last 3 pills of my two month course on Griseofulvin before my skin calmed down.
Avatar f tn Heck yes it can be ringworm. Ringworm can cause folliculitis and present like this, especially early stages of it, or certain strains. Try applying an OTC anti-fungal ointment on the boils (clotrimazole `% twice daily or terbinafine once daily). If it's ringworm, you will see marked improvement after 1-2 days. You should keep applying the cream for the full treatment period though to make sure all the spores are gone. Run all clothes and bedlinens through a HOT dryer.
