I have a coronary calcium score of 577 and my heart arteries are serverly calcified. Are open heart operations (bypasses) with good prognosis with type 1 diabetics? I have been on insulin for 32 years since I was 17.
Since then I have had numerous surgeries to correct different problems with my heart. This coming May I need another open heart surgery. I am extremely scared. I know just about what my surgeon and parents have told me about the whole process starting from the day before to a couple months after. If anybody has gone through this surgery around this age, could you please let me know? Maybe what the whole process was like? How you felt pre-surgery? Post-surgery? How much pain?
MANY MANY PEOPLE HAVE A LEAKING HEART VALVE. EVEN VERY YOUNG PEOPLE. IT IS OFTEN CALLED A HEART MURMUR. SOMETIMES PEOPLE MAY NEED A NEW VALVE REPLACED WITH SURGERY, AND EVEN IF YOUR MOM'S VALVE WAS LEAKING THAT BADLY, THESE OPERATIONS ARE DONE OFTEN AND ARE VERY SUCCESSFUL.
I was diagnosed with severe mitral regurgitation this past week. I have had the TEE, and a CT scheduled this week along with a meeting with heart surgeon. Our local surgeons only repair mitral valves with open chest technique. I am interested in the minimally invasive option since I have no other health issues. Is there any reason I should consider the open chest surgery? Seems like the obvious best choice is minimally invasive. Thanks.
With children there is usually two operations, the second operation to account for the growth factor of a child.
With the enlarged heart and mitral valve regurgitation--I would think that you should be evaluated for a repair of the valve. This can be done robotically, and without open heart surgery in many larger hospital centers. You want to go to a hospital that has surgeons specializing in that type of surgery and where they have done thousands of operations. You could start with your own current cardiologist to get recommendations for a referral elsewhere.
My father is 60 years old and had a heart attack last week. When diagnosed he had 80% blockage in one artery and a minor block in other artery. His Coloestrol, sugar and BP is perfect. Doc though is suggesting a bypass, can anybody suggest that is it the last remedy or we can have some scope through medicines?

But it is so bad at times I can not lay flat, or even recline slightly I have to sit straight up.
What we did was we got two balloons one that said boy and the other said girl and we recorded a video and popped the one it wasnt supposed to be held the little girl one in front of us and kissed. We also took pictures of him holding me from behind making a heart on my stomach than we painted the inside of his hands pink and pressed the hands on the shirt and we opened his hands and there was a pink heart and pink on his hands to reveal it.
My nine year old grandson has started pulling his mic key feeding tube out, he was having 6 x 200mls enrich plus, now he is down to two. Im 18yrs old and I had an operation to correct a sub aortic stinosis which didnt work at theage of 2 and a half, and around the time of me 12 birthday, i had thae ross precedure done, and obviously, im still alive, fingers crossed all will be ok with you, im going to have a lot more operations on my heart so im sure you, or whoever it is having their second op will be ok.
