Common Questions and Answers about Opana er withdrawal symptoms

opana

had neck fusion and now severe back pain...I have been on Opana ER 10mg 3x for about 8 months and I want to escape...I realize I am addicted...my first question...is withdrawal harder if you have been on a drug a long time...or is it harder if you have been taking large doses?...and...do you suggest I taper or go "cold turkey"...I don't know if many of you realize how many "seniors" are on these powerful drugs...can anyone fill me in on what I am about to do and go through?.
I've been on Opiates for a spinal injury for many years. Currently i'm on Opana ER 40mg (x2/day) plus Opana IR 10mg (3x/day) and it's barely taking the pain level down anymore. The most I cold detoxed was 48 hours, and I can't explain how awful it was at that last hour before I took a pill.
Endo has been the major distributor of oxymorphone throughout the world and currently markets oxymorphone in the United States and elsewhere as Opana and Opana ER. Opana is available as 5 mg and 10 mg tablets; Opana ER, an extended-release form of oxymorphone, is available as tablets in strengths of 5 mg, 7½ mg, 10 mg, 15 mg, 20 mg, 30 mg, and 40 mg.
HI THERE, IM A RECOVERING ADDICT FROM LOUISVILLE KY, AND I JUST WANTED TO TELL ANYONE OUT THERE WHO IS ADDICTED TO OPANA ER OR IR, DO NOT QUIT TAKING THE MEDICINE ABRUPTLY WITHOUT BEING IN A TREATMENT FACILITY. ALOT OF PEOPLE WHO ARE WANTING TO BEAT THEIR ADDICTION HAVE BEEN TRYING TO QUIT BY GOING TO SUBOXONE DR.S OR SUBOXINE TREATMENT FACILITIES AND ARE BEING TOLD THAT IF YOU TAKE A VERY HIGH AMOUNT OF A STRONG OPIATE THAT SUBOXONE WONT HELP. THIS IS VERY FALSE INFORMATION!!!
Is there anything I can purchase over the counter to help with withdrawal from Opana ER?
From what I've read, cutting the ER version of opana does NOT bypass the time release. Opana was made to try to deter people from abusing the oxycontin inside. The old pills marked OC had just a time release layer around the outside that could be taken off and the drug could then be abused. As a work around they made the time release process different, so cutting the pill or "dissolving" the time release layer wont work anymore.
So later in the week last week, I called my doctor and told him all of this and stated that I was going back to the original dose of 30 mg in the morning AND at night. At this point, I was about to toss the Opana ER and go back to the Morphine ER BUT before I did that, I researched more about Opana ER and discovered that it takes 3-4 days to reach a steady state level in the bloodstream so I decided to stick with it awhile longer.
I'm on Opana 5mg 2 of them 4 times a day and Opana ER 20mg 2 times a day. I was on Norco (vicodin) for a year before that. I really cant say i had withdrawals with the vicodin, being i am currently now going through withdrawals from the Opana and it is a million times worse!
I have been trying to get off narcotics for a year and was afraid of withdrawal symptoms. I am doing real well, right now, using 1/2 of a 15 mg Opana tablet every 30 hours. I expect to have the opioids out of my system soon. I still have considerable pain from 6 back surgeries, arthritis, and bursitis, but I am finally getting off narcotics.
I started taking Opana er 15mg generic with Vicoprofen 4 x's a day for break though pain. I had to stop the Opana Er due to depression and nodding off and it really didn't help the pain. My Dr put me on percocet 10"s 325 tylenol. I am in pain and I am having burning in my muscles I feel like I am in withdrawl from the Opana er which I only took for about 3 months. I have limb jumping. No energy and have to take one and a half to two of the Percocet to even get a small relief of the pain.
Have you had issues with withdrawal symptoms coming on suddenly? I know the Opana ER doesn't last 12 hours (even my doc warned me this was the case) but this latest batch of opana seems to poop out & give me old sweats about 4 hours after taking it. As I said, I sorta expect pain to come back early, but until this refill I've never had withdrawal symptoms come unless I've not taken any Opana in at least 20 hours!
Okay...so you're still on Opana and can get some Norco for withdrawal and take some klonopin. You're off Methadone. Is that right? This makes no sense to me so i guess I don't understand you...can you tell us a little clearer? Are you trying to avoid withdrawal from the OPANA by wanting to take Norco?? Help us here...
Last month, my pain management NP told me to drop from 10 mg Opana ER mg three times a day to 5 mg Opana ER three times a day. In both cases I have three 5 mg Opana IRs to take with the ER. I have found the ER really hard to decrease anymore on (I have decreased from 40 mg Opana ER three times a day plus the three 5 mg Opana IR).
i was wondering about ya that was a brutal drop he didnt tell you might feel a little sick he just dropped u to that in one day ?
Your going to have some withdrawal symptoms. No way around it. I was able to taper off after a year of use and at the end I was taking a crumb and skipping days. I will tell you that I had tried to taper off at about 6 months and had alot of trouble (physically). Looking back, I can see that 'mentally' I had not made enough changes for me. I was not going to therapy.
So my husband has been on a progressive pain pill diet for about 6 + years for his back (degenerative disc disease with nerve damage) He has been on Norco 10-325 for at least one year taking 4-6 a day occasionally more but usually sticking to 4. His doctor switched him to Opana ER 10MG and gave him Opana IR 5MG incase of break through pain.
Unfortunately while I was withdrawing from the norco I was taking ativan to sleep and while it was great to aid in the sleep, I was becoming addicted to them and had no idea, so when I quit taking them, I had a whole new set of withdrawal symptoms and those were worse than the norco ones, so I had to taper off of those and I am free of those pills too. I have no desire whatsoever to have any narcotic or alcohol, I like who I am without any of it.
It can only be prescribed by a qualified physician (usually an addiction medicine specialist) My recommendation for ANYONE that has become addicted to opiates like Vicodin,Lorcet, percodan, codeine, etc is to contact an addiction medicine specialist and ask them about this drug. It can nearly eliminate withdrawal symptoms. (It can be expensive though) My problem is that I may be withdrawing from this drug, but that is a whole other story.
I have to cut down and recently cut down to 10 a day and have experienced physical and emotional withdrawal symptoms. I have some clonidine and don't know how much to take for withdrawal. What is the recommended dosage. My goal is to eventually cut down to 4 a day, but have been very uncomfortable at 10. I also take effexor and trazadone for depression, but I am so depressed right now. Hydrocodone, believe it or not has helped my depression and has given me something to look forward to.
i am on 30 mg opana er and 5 mg opana. they are good, but they have been causing severe drowsiness so much that i have been nodding off at work, and have been asked to take a medical leave of absence. Now I dont know what to do they don't want me to come back till i'm drug free, but i have chronic back pain.. i cannot work w/out pain med..its too much pain to handle...right now im seeing about getting a spinal cord stimulator put in..
Is the oxycodone Opana or Opana ER? If so that it what I am tapering off of, and I would like to connect with you. I will check back.
I may not have been able to get this far off of Opana without them for this long. Opana is a ruthless killer, especially Opana ER. I know you left your DOC, thinking you had found something to help you. I knew there were dangers, but I was too afraid of Opana to not go this route when it was offered to me. I thank God they were able to detox me with it too. But, this is incredible for a doctor to tell me I am overreacting SO I need to stay on it longer.
I have studied medications for 12 yrs and have came up with many ways to help ease w/d's but I am having problems with opana er 30 w/d's any advice would be helpful what should I take supplement wise when I first get up and threw out the day to help keep the w/d at bay > I know that milk thistle is a good liver detox maybe I should get the some am/ad also need that and Delysome or can you get dxtro /dxm is a pill form that would be better?
I had planned a slow taper with the subs, but when I started getting intense withdrawal symptoms between doses, I reconsidered. I seem to have very little tolerance for withdrawal symptoms after my very long taper. I am feeling like it is crazy, but I need to go and get that kind of support.
I am so very sorry you are experiencing such pain and withdrawal symptoms. We have a great substance abuse community can that help you with the withdrawal questions. My understanding it is this is a long miserable process. Fentanyl can be a monster, withdrawal nightmare and take months of recovery. Being a Pain Mgt Forum Member I am concerned about your pain and how you will deal with it. There are other pain medications but all that are really effective in general are the opiates.
My nuro gave me enough to last me 2 months and I have another appointment with them on Tues to get a refill but they are not a pain management group they only do surgery. I have ultram and opana 10mg er and I have had them since back in Feb but I have not taken any of them because like I said they are stronger than what I really need. I just want to stop being a slave to these pills. I hurt and have taken them for so long. Even though my tolerance has not gone up but to 3 a day.
There is no easy way out of withdrawal symptoms. You are going to have to go through some kind of pain and discomfort. Putting off a few weeks of discomfort is nothing compared to the years to come of disaster and torturing your body and mind, and possibly even death.
When you get to the end of tapering off, you will have about 5 days of frank withdrawal symptoms, then it will slowly get better. It is SO worth it. You may need a support system on the addiction side, this is a mental process as well as physical.
My question is with I have the terrible withdrawal symptoms that are always mentioned in our forums (believe me I have suffered enough in the long 3 month taper from Opana ER to this dose of short-acting Opana). I would LOVE to hear from anyone that has done a long taper to 0 and not jumped at another dose. I don't know whether I will be okay or whether I will have the myriad of withdrawal symptoms. Some of your experience, strength and hope is appreciated.
