Opana er oxymorphone

Common Questions and Answers about Opana er oxymorphone

opana

Avatar n tn t know how many 5/325 mg Percocets you were taking a day before switching to the Opana ER 5 mg, but to have equivalent pain relief from the Opana ER, you had to have taken only 2 Percocets a day. If you were taking more than 2 Percocets a day then the switch to Opana ER 5 mg was a step down in terms of pain relieving strength.
Avatar m tn when i could not find oxycontin i would take opana er 40mg. opana(oxymorphone) is about twice as potent as oxycodone. they are rather new i believe they came out in 2002?
Avatar f tn I am currently in pain management I have been prescribed most recenlty Opana ER with Vicuprofin, and Lidocaine, but since I started the Opana it makes me too drowsy and I am suffering from Diareaha. I spoke to another person who said that she takes oxycodone and it helps her with the pain and it does not make her as drowsy. I work in a very stressful position which requires me to make snap decisions so the drowsiness does not help and I also sit at a computer most of the day..
Avatar m tn I am currently taking Opana ER 30mg /2 TID for long term spinal pain due to breaks and fusions. I am going to try replacing that for a short time with a Fentanyl Patch to see if I have any improvement in Pain Mgmt. I am just wondering what regimen I should use to safely do this. For example. Is it as easy as waiting 12 hrs. after my last Opana ER and then apply the patch (it's a 3 day patch) then take another ER once the 3 days has expired?
Avatar m tn I agree with Geminigirl and Tuckamore's comments that medications affect everyone differently and what may work for someone may not work well for you. But given my recent medication change to Opana ER, I have found information all across the internet from other chronic pain patients that are being switched from Oxycontin to Opana ER due to their doctor's unwillingness to continue to prescribe the medication due to bad press and associated fear from DEA prosecution.
1445110 tn?1388209711 Opana ER has been a LIVESAVING drug for me, non sedating, i can hold my huge babies and have no side effects, I highly recommended the ER, you take it only 2 x a day, I ran out one day before my pain doctor appt and am in excruciating pain in back and hips. Had no idea how well it was working until I am having to go 2 days without and about to DIE.
Avatar n tn Not sure if you have tried Opana (oxymorphone) yet but based on pharmacology, it is a little stronger than Dilaudid (hydromorphone) mg to mg. I am on 30 mg of Opana ER twice a day. They do have Opana in immediate release form. Opana has a long half life, even in immediate release form, such that 6 hour dosing works extremely well for most patients versus the 4 hour dosing of oxycodone. Oxymorphone is the metabolite of oxycodone...
687729 tn?1397992727 I am moving to Knoxville from Michigan and I am addicted to Opana ER. There is only one doctor in Knoxville who prescribes narcotics and Opana isn't helping with my chronic pain, anyway (I have had five back surgeries). I tried detoxing by switching to Dilaudid, taking smaller and smaller doses... Then, an injury in Physical Therapy put me back on my full Opana dosage. I've tried using Kratom for the pain and it keeps me awake. Can the fast-acting Oxymorphone be cut in half?
Avatar f tn Yes, opana er will show up as morphine on a drug test.
Avatar f tn Did they check off oxymorphone (opana) or morphine on the lab slip? Oxymorphone (Opana) is a semi-synthetic opioid, unlike morphine which is an opiate. If there was an error is the test request, that could explain the false negative. Btw, Opana is available in generic form- oxymorphone hcl ER by globabal pharmaceuticals. I know because I take it currently.
Avatar f tn If the new oxycontin OP worked very well on your pain, I highly recommend talking to your doctor about Opana ER. It is oxymorphone and it is strongest pain medication available in pill form based on pharmacology. The oxycodone in Oxycontin is metabolized by the liver into oxymorphone. Therefore, the Opana ER would be a drug that is very comparable to the Oxycontin, only twice as strong.
Avatar f tn Has anyone heard of the drug Opana ER. Checking into detox tomorrow to rid myself of this drug. Can't be done on my own, tried cold turkey thought I would die.
Avatar f tn So you are using Opana ER 10mg twice a day? Because of your many years of pain and opioid medication, you are highly tolerant to opioids analgesics. This means that you need more opioid to achieve the same amount of pain relief. My question is: why does your doctor want to change the Duragesic to Opana ER? Also, how long after changing from Duragesic to Opana ER did you begin to feel more pain?
Avatar m tn has anyone ever been prescribed opana er 20 mg i take it q 12hrs but it only lasts 8 hrs and for bt pain i take norco 10 -325mg q6 hrs. that only lasts apprx. 1.
Avatar n tn Ive been taking oxycontin 80, (6 day) & dilaudid 8 (8 day) for 15 years due to many health issues ... I was just put on opana 40 ER (4 day)& Opana 10 (4 day). Since i've been on the new meds i think i have been blacking out; l be doing something and i open my eyes and i dont know where i am, or what just happened, Are these seizures??? Or Withdrawals ??? Both?? Does Anyone Have Any Input?
Avatar f tn OPANA ER works very differently than other pain drugs.I found it to be very good no side effects no 'high'. But they have removed it from the market for some really stupid reasons.
1444483 tn?1468516489 s for the last year. My new pain management doctor suggested Opana ER. He told me that in the 7 years of him prescribing the medication he has not had a single patient become addicted to the medicine like patients do on Norco's and other pain meds. The norcos have started to just not work since my tolerance has built up to them. I am taking one Opana in the morning and one at night, with my norcos as a back up pain reliever.
Avatar m tn I dont see much about it in these posts but I have been taking oxymorphone(OPANA) for FBS.I have been addicted to Meth cocaine and alcohol in the past but have been free from those chains for 10 years. My disease has resurfaced with this Opana though.I have cut my intake from 20 mg a day to 10 mg a day for the past three days.I have been blessed to avoid the terrible sickness of opiate withdrawl that I went through last year with this **** when I went CT off of it.
Avatar f tn I am going through serious withdrawal. I suffer chronic back and hip pain and my doctor can't seem to find the source of the pain. So I started to medicate myself. I started off with oxy 30s. then I started dating a guy who also is in chronic pain and when I would start getting "sick" from not being able to get the 30s he gave he some of his oxymorphone, opana, and I don't want to continue taking his meds anymore.
541953 tn?1262586226 Hi, Iknow it has been a few years since your post, i was wondering how you are doing on the Opana ER. I am switching from Opana 30 mg ER to Morphine 60 mg ER.The Opana gave me side effects, dizziness, being in withdrawl if I missed a dose, and it did not help my chronic pain.. I have tried many ER drugs and I am having a hard time finding many of them. Plus my breakthrough meds are also hard to find.
Avatar f tn Is there a chart that I can use to convert fentanyl patch strength to the Opana Er strength?
Avatar f tn Hello Scoenen, I am so glad that your dad is doing alright. What a releif. I do know the fear and concern. I was asked by a member of the PM Community to respond to your post. I hope you don't mind. Percocet (short acting) is oxycodone and acetaminophen. OxyContin is long acting oxycodone. As you know Oxycontin is a sustained release that provides a continuous dose over an 8 to 12 hour period.
Avatar m tn So my husband has been on a progressive pain pill diet for about 6 + years for his back (degenerative disc disease with nerve damage) He has been on Norco 10-325 for at least one year taking 4-6 a day occasionally more but usually sticking to 4. His doctor switched him to Opana ER 10MG and gave him Opana IR 5MG incase of break through pain.
