opana er help with cost

I hate opana ER, especially the reformulation. I take them as prescribed with little to no pain relief and terrible side effects. They tear up my stomach and give me horrible indigestion. Yet, my DR wont switch me to something different.

I need to get started on it and try it but I am so afraid of stronger pain meds. Anyone familiar with it and did it help with the pain without sedating you too much? I have hypothyroidism and it just seems that stronger pain meds really hit me hard with my thyroid problems. Thanks for any response.

Hi, Iknow it has been a few years since your post, i was wondering how you are doing on the Opana ER. I am switching from Opana 30 mg ER to Morphine 60 mg ER.The Opana gave me side effects, dizziness, being in withdrawl if I missed a dose, and it did not help my chronic pain.. I have tried many ER drugs and I am having a hard time finding many of them. Plus my breakthrough meds are also hard to find.

I was switched to 100mg Morphine 2x a day only after 2-3 months is not doing anything after 4 hours for now HE switched me to Opana er 40mg 2x a day the morphine worked while i was at work taking it 1 hour before going to work(Chef) but as soon as my 6 hour shift was ending The pain has become unbearable,now with the opana er I am feeling bad pain during work,I really am not sure what I am Asking,basically has anyone who has severe chronic pain who has to work like me ,I just need some wisdom t

So, I may end up going with the 30 mg Opana ER tablets after all and just requesting thirty 10 or 15 mg Opana ER tablets to take at night only. They have a generic in the 15 mg strength but not in the 10 mg strength so I need to price the 10 mg strength to see how much more it is going to cost me. The sixty 30 mg tablets cost me $242 on Friday as they don't have a generic in that strength yet...not until Jan 2013.

Last month, my pain management NP told me to drop from 10 mg Opana ER mg three times a day to 5 mg Opana ER three times a day. In both cases I have three 5 mg Opana IRs to take with the ER. I have found the ER really hard to decrease anymore on (I have decreased from 40 mg Opana ER three times a day plus the three 5 mg Opana IR).

I'm taking Opana ER 10 mg and it's not on the list of approved drugs for my new RX plan. Fentanyl patches weren't effective. What's a good substitute? oxymorphone is not listed but hydromorphone is.

I take 12-15 lortab 10 a day,my doctor in an effort to help me get off,gave me opana er but insurance wouldn't cover,it cost too much to pay out of pocket.looked up some ER meds my insur.would cover.here they are hydromorph,oramorph,and oxycodone er. t know how many 5/325 mg Percocets you were taking a day before switching to the Opana ER 5 mg, but to have equivalent pain relief from the Opana ER, you had to have taken only 2 Percocets a day. If you were taking more than 2 Percocets a day then the switch to Opana ER 5 mg was a step down in terms of pain relieving strength.

I have been taking Opana ER 30mg. 3 times a day for several months. My doctor has moved to Alaska and gave me 3 months of prescriptions while I find another doctor. When I dropped off the 2nd prescription the pharmacy told me they have ordered Opana several times over the last month and the order has not come. I called every pharmacy in my town and they said the same thing. Tapering is out of the question, so I guess its time for me to stop taking it, and it will have to be cold turkey.

I am new to Opana Er and am taking 3 5 mgs a day. It is helping my quality of life but I am having headaches and still having breakthrough pain. I go back to my doctor next week and wonder if I need a different dose. Any ideas?

I am a 49yr old female with several health issues. I've been on Opana 20mgs er and 10 mg Opana 4times a day for months, before was on 100 mgs of Morphine and the Opana 10mgs 4times per day.

my dr just put me on opana ER 10mg 2x day and 2 lortab day for breakthru...before that was prescribed and taking 4 norco 10/325 daily and was not controlling the pain...i've been in this constant flar-up phase few weeks... i've only been on opana er for 2 days so i know it takes around 5 days to kick in and dr says this mg is a starting point for me and will move up some accordingly...i'm glad and surprised that my pain has subsided some...

Hi. I switched from 25 mcg fentanyl which I replaced every 48 hrs as I absorbed the drug more quickly. Due to insurance I switched to opana er I began at 20 went to 30 mg twice daily due to insurance. Didn't help at all with pain. Decision was made to try fentanyl again. This time the usual 3 days. My drugs arrived and it was 75 mcg. I expected 50. Did she do the conversion correctly. I'm concerned about the dosage being too high. Any comments. Please.

However, after thinking about many of your online comments and the amount of breakthrough pain medicine I take daily along with discussion of my concerns with my doctor, we decided that 30 mg of Opana ER during the day was accurate. However, we reduced the nighttime dose to 15 mg. After starting to take Opana ER, the adjustment period was rough and the worst of it lasted about a week.

I am currently in pain management I have been prescribed most recenlty Opana ER with Vicuprofin, and Lidocaine, but since I started the Opana it makes me too drowsy and I am suffering from Diareaha. I spoke to another person who said that she takes oxycodone and it helps her with the pain and it does not make her as drowsy. I work in a very stressful position which requires me to make snap decisions so the drowsiness does not help and I also sit at a computer most of the day..

I agree with Geminigirl and Tuckamore's comments that medications affect everyone differently and what may work for someone may not work well for you. But given my recent medication change to Opana ER, I have found information all across the internet from other chronic pain patients that are being switched from Oxycontin to Opana ER due to their doctor's unwillingness to continue to prescribe the medication due to bad press and associated fear from DEA prosecution.

I have no personal experience with opana ER, but i did some research on this subject. From what I've read, cutting the ER version of opana does NOT bypass the time release. Opana was made to try to deter people from abusing the oxycontin inside. The old pills marked OC had just a time release layer around the outside that could be taken off and the drug could then be abused.
