opana

Hi, Iknow it has been a few years since your post, i was wondering how you are doing on the Opana ER. I am switching from Opana 30 mg ER to Morphine 60 mg ER.The Opana gave me side effects, dizziness, being in withdrawl if I missed a dose, and it did not help my chronic pain.. I have tried many ER drugs and I am having a hard time finding many of them. Plus my breakthrough meds are also hard to find.
SOMETHING, must be done, to call attention to this GROWING PROBLEM, concerning negative urine screens, INVOLVING OPANA ER and OPANA IR, ESPECIALLY...other drugs as well!! ANY AND ALL OUT THERE WITH ANY IDEAS, PLZ COMMENT!! Thanks in advance!! Again, it's the INNOCENT PATIENTS SUFFERING, while THE CRIMINALS SELLING THE MEDS, ARE SKATING!! While the innocent patients are having to fear their doctor's appointments, ALWAYS WONDERING, WILL I TEST NEGATIVE, WILL I GET THE BOOT ...THIS TIME?????
Last month, my pain management NP told me to drop from 10 mg Opana ER mg three times a day to 5 mg Opana ER three times a day. In both cases I have three 5 mg Opana IRs to take with the ER. I have found the ER really hard to decrease anymore on (I have decreased from 40 mg Opana ER three times a day plus the three 5 mg Opana IR).
I have an appointment on Monday to talk about the SWITCH but I'd like to go in with some ideas....PLEASE, CAN ANYONE HELP? I need an extended release opiate (severe chronic pain) and something for breakthrough which currently is morphine sulfate (I NEVER take as much as they've prescribed but have said nothing). I just want adequate pain control at a reasonable price.
), until the allergies of the adhesive left such terrible scars even HE had to remove them! But then to put me on OPANA ER, which I could not even tolerate for over 36 hours!,(And THAT dosage was the equivalent of 10 Oxycontin per day!) and I returned the full bottle to HIM, to prove how nauseating the look of it even make me...
I was taking 60 mg of morphine sulfate ER plus 35 mg of percocet a day. He switched me to 30 mg of Opana ER every 12 hours with up to 25 mg of percocet a day for breakthrough pain. My old medications equaled 120 mg of morphine equivalent a day and my new medications equal 180 mg of morphine equivalent a day from just the Opana ER!!! That is a 60 mg increase!!! The Opana (oxymorphone) is a much stronger medication than morphine and percocet.
I take 12-15 lortab 10 a day,my doctor in an effort to help me get off, gave me opana er but insurance wouldn't cover,it cost too much to pay out of pocket.looked up some ER meds my insur.would cover.here they are hydromorph, oramorph, and oxycodone er. I know I am trading one substance for another but have tried weaning myself off the lortabs and screw up everytime. His,my doc's idea was for me to take the opana er twice a day for a month then once a day.I have legit.
My Facet Disease is classified as severe and the RFA has given me almost 100% relief in the Lumbar Region. Of course with the DDD throughout my entire back I still need help with my pain and I'm prescribed meds for that. If you are willing to have Epidurals and other procedures done then that helps to prove to them that you really do need the meds and aren't just trying to get meds.
My friend calls it pain from the bone marrow out and that's about the truth. I know of two drugs that can help with withdrawal, one is klonapin and the other is clonadine and forgive me but there is one more that can help but I forgot. First one is a anti seizure medication with properties like Valium but much sronger the other is a b/p medication that helps your bowl no ****. that wasent funny but it helps with the smooth bowl tissue. Both of these you would need to see a Dr. and B./P.

My doctor has me on 20mg opana ER, 15mg oxycodone for break through pain and 5mg valium for muscle spasms. The problem is its not just break through pain, its pain all the time and heaven help me if I try to do anything around the house, a friend barrowed my lawn mower, and just lifting it out of her truck killed me, doing dishes kills me, mowing my own lawn kills me. I am so tired of being in constant pain.
Please understand that your really not helping yourself and when you live with CP day in day out you know how difficult it is and with out having the medications to help with the pain it is very difficult to say the least. It is always best to be honest with your doctor and only get pain medications from your PM doctor. When trust is broken it is nearly impossible to regain. I hope things work out for you.
Really recommended this one with Opana quick release for break through. So prescribed Opana ER 10 MG and Opana 5 mg for break through. Too early to tell if it will suffice but so far pain intensity is lower most of the time. TNA sent email of study OC and Preglabin with good results and this treatment is along the very same line. Anti epileptic and Opiate.
He swapped out the morphine sulfate ER that I was taking for Opana ER. The dose of the Opana ER includes my doses of breakthrough meds that I was taking so it looks like I will only need to take 2 pills a day of pain medication. I am taking my first dose tomorrow morning. I will let you know how it works out for me. My PCP was also VERY worried about my tylenol intake from the percocet. He said 2,000 mg was the soft limit and I was bumping up against that.
He said he would start me off on Opana ER 10 mg and to take 2 a day and also to take Opana 10mg during the day as I need it and he would see me in two weeks and start adjusting my medication. He was very accomodating. He and I talked briefly about my job and he did tell me again today that my chronic injury will never get any better. I apologized to him for crying and getting upset, and he told me to never apologize and that he was happy to help me.
I figured I should just keep my mouth shut about it. But eventually I talked to her about it again..and she tried me on Opana ER along with Opana IR 5x a day for breakthrough. The pain relief was great- but at first they made me really nauseaus and i ended up losing a good bit of them in the toilet from getting sick. So again- I ran out 3-4 days early. Of course I go in and get a UDS that day.
Made it back from work, pretty comfortable with the Opana ER and the Opana. I have decided the two a day will not be sufficient to keep me comfortable, but at least I know there is something out there that I can take that may work. My only real problem with it is that it's 80.00 and I really can't afford that type of prescription. Can anyone give me any ideas how to tell my pain doctor that I just can't afford 80.00 a month on just two prescriptions.
Purdue Pharma won the lawsuit and all the generic manufacturers that were producing Oxycontin had to exit the market. A similar scenario happened with Opana ER. Endo Pharmaceuticals reformulated Opana ER so that it couldn't be crushed and snorted. When they did that, it extended their patent for at least another 10 years. The difference in this case is there remains two strengths of generic Opana ER on the market that are manufactured by Actavis Pharmaceuticals.
I've made the decision to be done with narcotics and tried talking to my doctor about it yesterday to see if she could advise me to do anything well that had me leaving the office in tears and no information. So I'm coming here for help. I've stopped my medicine which was opana er 10mg I took about 6 a day. I've been on pain meds for a few years and I'm so tired of it running my life. I'm not going to have a benzo to make this more tolerable so I'm worried. Any advice?
And at the beginning of this year, I switched insurances and found a very compassionate physician that started me on Opana ER and Opana has been the best medicine yet for controlling my pain. I hope the pain relief continues for awhile and doesn't fizzle out so quickly...we'll see. I have been working for over 16 years in the engineering field.
Phillip Seymour Hoffman was found in his Manhattan apartment with a syringe still stuck in his arm and fifty heroin bags in his possession. So I thought back to patient we had very recently, who is also a heroin addict. He called us of his own volition for help. He said he was done and wanted to be free of this drug. He seemed committed to his decision; he convinced his parents that this is the right way to go and got them on board.
It does state that I can go to the ER, but the ER would cost me 75 dollars to sit there for hours and they don't really help with the pain. I haven't been to the ER because I'm afraid the ER will send me home and say I have to see my regular doctor. I've been there once before for gallbladder issues and they did not help me.
So his pa says he will start me out at 50's I told him that would not help. They added a couple different meds to my list and he went ahead and went with the 75's on the patch. My doctor has a bad habit of just pulling me off meds and then letting me fend off the withdrawls with no help. Many times have went almost a week without any sleep because of withdrawls. But as soon as my new pain doctor gets all my records I have to keep seeing this one.
Y'all are all so awesome. It's so hard to find people in my regular life to talk to. I mean, with all the hoopla with celebrities etc. (MJ, Whitney, Heath etc.) on pain pills, it is scary to say anything. My problem is, my last PM doctor was not a nice man. I got copies of my records and he lied all over the place! Said he did exams when he never touched me for example. Then when I speak up for myself for the FIRST time he fires me. Or said I should get another opinion to be technical.
so that is a touchy subject with me, i tried honesty and was left to fend for myself with no help or guidence. so i dont DARE tell you what to say to new doc... it would scare me if the same thing happened to you because of some advice i gave...so sorry. everything i have done to get clean...i have done ALONE...only help and support from my husband,my sub. doctor and now therapy. i had horrible WD'S with the transition from methadone to the sub, terrible for 4 days...
I admit I was really worried about taking this medicine and I told the Doctor when we were discussing what to change my medications to and he just asked me one question, why would you be reluctant to take something that would potentially help your pain so you can get on with your life. That made me realize I do generalize medicines too much. Chronic pain Pt's do tend to see pain medicines this way as we try and stay on the lower dose and lower medicines but we have to look beyond that.
Cold water extraction was too much work for me, so I went back to my doc and told him I was worried about the pills doing more damage than good. He switched me to 4 times daily 10mg Opana IR along with the 20mg Opana ER. At this point, I figured I had struck gold. An endless supply. He even added 120 Norco 10mg a month. At about this time, I decided that I hated my job enough to not go anymore. It wasn't so much the job, but my bosses and coworkers.
Hopefully this doctor figures something out and gets me on the right meds to help with whatever I have. Right now he has me on Topamax until he figures out what I have, which I haven't really noticed a difference yet. Have any of you taken this before? If so, has it worked for you?? I will keep you all informed. My MRI is tomorrow at 12:45 so as soon as I find out I will let everyone know!!
