opana er abuse

Normally I wouldn't comment on this but I will because it's dangerous to cut Opana if it's Opana ER. If you're running out of your meds early that's not a good sign.

s for the last year. My new pain management doctor suggested Opana ER. He told me that in the 7 years of him prescribing the medication he has not had a single patient become addicted to the medicine like patients do on Norco's and other pain meds. The norcos have started to just not work since my tolerance has built up to them. I am taking one Opana in the morning and one at night, with my norcos as a back up pain reliever.

So my husband has been on a progressive pain pill diet for about 6 + years for his back (degenerative disc disease with nerve damage) He has been on Norco 10-325 for at least one year taking 4-6 a day occasionally more but usually sticking to 4. His doctor switched him to Opana ER 10MG and gave him Opana IR 5MG incase of break through pain.

Reading through all these posts (you are all very brave!) I too have much in common with most of you. I started recreationally enjoying a pill or 2. Never went through WD. 2yrs ago I had a herniated disc in my neck which caused the most horrific pain I ever felt (worse than childbirth!) At first the Percocet 10/325 IR & oxy 15 ER was a welcome for the pain. Then once the pain subsided I was hooked!

when i could not find oxycontin i would take opana er 40mg. opana(oxymorphone) is about twice as potent as oxycodone. they are rather new i believe they came out in 2002?

Opana ER has been a LIVESAVING drug for me, non sedating, i can hold my huge babies and have no side effects, I highly recommended the ER, you take it only 2 x a day, I ran out one day before my pain doctor appt and am in excruciating pain in back and hips. Had no idea how well it was working until I am having to go 2 days without and about to DIE.

I was hoping that all you kind peps would give me your input about Opana ER. I am on fentanyl 175/48 hrs. right now. not what I want it to be. I really need to find a solution. Thanks.

I used to take 30 mg of Opana ER twice a day but I switched to the Fentanyl patch last month. 30 mg of Opana ER is roughly 60 mg of oxycodone or 90 mg of morphine. 10 mg of Opana ER is roughly 20 mg of oxycodone or 30 mg of morphine. You are actually getting 5 mg less of oxycodone through the switch from percocet to Opana ER. However, since Opana ER is an entirely different opioid formulation.

My doctor told me that my last drug screening came up positive for Opana ER. I have never taken Opana. How in the world could this have happened? I know many people won't believe me, but it's the truth. I'm just trying to figure out how this could happen. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I was switched to 100mg Morphine 2x a day only after 2-3 months is not doing anything after 4 hours for now HE switched me to Opana er 40mg 2x a day the morphine worked while i was at work taking it 1 hour before going to work(Chef) but as soon as my 6 hour shift was ending The pain has become unbearable,now with the opana er I am feeling bad pain during work,I really am not sure what I am Asking,basically has anyone who has severe chronic pain who has to work like me ,I just need some wisdom t

Hi, Iknow it has been a few years since your post, i was wondering how you are doing on the Opana ER. I am switching from Opana 30 mg ER to Morphine 60 mg ER.The Opana gave me side effects, dizziness, being in withdrawl if I missed a dose, and it did not help my chronic pain.. I have tried many ER drugs and I am having a hard time finding many of them. Plus my breakthrough meds are also hard to find.

Anyone taken Opana ER? My doctor wants to switch me from Oxy to Opana ER and I am very nervous about it. Any advice is helpful.

I used to take opana but they took it off the market and I was put on morphine sulfate er, that is the drug that tested negative. It was either false negatives both and they did send it to a lab or they set me up just to take me off the opioid. I know it sounds crazy for me to think they would set me up but it is even crazier to me to be accused of selling my meds to take other opioids. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TAKE STREET DRUGS OR ABUSE MY MEDS!!!

I take 12-15 lortab 10 a day,my doctor in an effort to help me get off,gave me opana er but insurance wouldn't cover,it cost too much to pay out of pocket.looked up some ER meds my insur.would cover.here they are hydromorph,oramorph,and oxycodone er. I know I am trading one substance for another but have tried weaning myself off the lortabs and screw up everytime.His,my doc's idea was for me to take the opana er twice a day for a month then once a day.I have legit.

t know how many 5/325 mg Percocets you were taking a day before switching to the Opana ER 5 mg, but to have equivalent pain relief from the Opana ER, you had to have taken only 2 Percocets a day. If you were taking more than 2 Percocets a day then the switch to Opana ER 5 mg was a step down in terms of pain relieving strength.

I have been taking Opana ER 30mg. 3 times a day for several months. My doctor has moved to Alaska and gave me 3 months of prescriptions while I find another doctor. When I dropped off the 2nd prescription the pharmacy told me they have ordered Opana several times over the last month and the order has not come. I called every pharmacy in my town and they said the same thing. Tapering is out of the question, so I guess its time for me to stop taking it, and it will have to be cold turkey.

Hi, worried. For what little it's worth, I've been on Opana 40 mg. twice a day (ER-extended release) for about four months now. I feel that it's been the most effective of the ER drugs I've been prescribed, with only nominal side effects.. Cheers!

I am new to Opana Er and am taking 3 5 mgs a day. It is helping my quality of life but I am having headaches and still having breakthrough pain. I go back to my doctor next week and wonder if I need a different dose. Any ideas?

So later in the week last week, I called my doctor and told him all of this and stated that I was going back to the original dose of 30 mg in the morning AND at night. At this point, I was about to toss the Opana ER and go back to the Morphine ER BUT before I did that, I researched more about Opana ER and discovered that it takes 3-4 days to reach a steady state level in the bloodstream so I decided to stick with it awhile longer.

You are taking Opana ER every 4-6 hours? Opana ER is meant to be taken every 12 hours, not every 4-6 hours. In fact, most insurance companies will not pay for extended release medications to be taken more than 2 times per day. my dr just put me on opana ER 10mg 2x day and 2 lortab day for breakthru...before that was prescribed and taking 4 norco 10/325 daily and was not controlling the pain...i've been in this constant flar-up phase few weeks... i've only been on opana er for 2 days so i know it takes around 5 days to kick in and dr says this mg is a starting point for me and will move up some accordingly...i'm glad and surprised that my pain has subsided some...

I have never heard of using opana to stop drugs cos it is a strong narc and i would be careful.,,again, do not abuse the opana or u will have a tougher problem than u had in the first place.

I agree with Geminigirl and Tuckamore's comments that medications affect everyone differently and what may work for someone may not work well for you. But given my recent medication change to Opana ER, I have found information all across the internet from other chronic pain patients that are being switched from Oxycontin to Opana ER due to their doctor's unwillingness to continue to prescribe the medication due to bad press and associated fear from DEA prosecution.

I have been taking Opana ER 20mg for pain. Pain is gone but NOT taking the Opana ER is giving me horrible effects like weakness all over, cold chills, hot and cold flashes, and nausea. Does anyone know how to effectively get off this stuff, I have tried to do it slowly. I'm completely off of the Opana 10mg for breakthrough pain. I have added an hour each time I take the Opana ER 20mg ( started every 12 hours then 13, 14, etc.

Now, converting that to Opana ER. Opana ER is 3x stronger than morphine; hence, 120 mg of morphine = 120/3 mg of Opana ER per day (i.e., 40 mg). Therefore I should be taking 20 mg of Opana ER every 12 hours NOT 30 mg of Opan ER every 12 hours. The 40 mg Opana ER includes all of the breakthrough percocet I take per day and the total in morphine sulfate ER I take per day. With this lower dose, I still should not need breakthrough meds.

I am not a fool and cant and wont do it cold turkey, been there done that, I have taken 40 mg of meth 2 days ago and have done roxis and had a fetynal patch on for 2 days, I have a presription for opana er and as I was reading it I noticed the scary for me word antoginist (sp?) I was looking forward to trying to get totally off the meth with the help of the opana and now that I read that I am wondering if it is like suboxome or subutex??
