i have one swollen tonsil, my throat is slightly red, the other tonsil is, inflammed, i've had 2 shots of rocephin and have been taking amoxicillin, and now azithromycin,.....i'm concerned because 2 shots should have killed any bacteria i would imagine,.....the antibiotics seem to do nothing,,..... i'm lost.

Hi, I'd like to start out by saying im a 21 year old male, and other then what has been going on recently I've always been healthy. Last August I first discovered a swollen node underneath my left ear. I was given an anti-biotic but nothing happened to the node. I was schedule for blood testing, and a ct-scan. Blood testing came back normal, but my ct-scan showed a nodule over 2 cm with other enlargements in my neck. I was scheduled to see a general surgeon to perform a biopsy.

Now a year later have swollen lymph nodes on my neck for about a month, swollen taste buds, and a swollen tonsil (my lymph node is more swollen on that side). He discovered i also have a swollen tonsil. The swollen tonsil could be from post nasal drip, and the right tonsil is swollen because i sleep on my right side and so it is subject to the nasal drip. Still, he insisted i get an MRI because a swollen tonsil could indicate other problems - like a tumor for one. i had the MRI last night and hope to get results in several days.
