Common Questions and Answers about Ondansetron mg

zofran

Avatar f tn I was put on 50 mg of zoloft a month ago and have had nausea ever since. It seems like it's been getting worse over the last couple of weeks. Yesterday I was prescribed Ondansetron ODT 4mg. It doesn't seem to help. Will the nausea go away?
Avatar m tn And yes Nexium as Pepela suggested is also in the PPI class
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is Zofran hun. Its just the generic name for zofran. Even though theres a lawsuit, id say its more of a money maker. I took it both pregnancies and my babies came out fine. Youve got to look at whether the benefits outweigh the risk with ANY medication. If youre miserable and need to eat for baby, take it. My advice is try to only take it when u really need it, not on a regular basis. Stop as soon as symptoms ease up. Lots of water too.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is the generic for Zofran. Why would you refuse it? It's safe to take or your Dr wouldn't prescribe it to you. There's other meds out there if you don't want to take it. My Dr gave me Diclegis. It helped take the edge off the nausea.
1201433 tn?1328997637 I also am on Zofran for nausea and vomiting. I take 8 mg every 8 hours, usually about an hour before I take my meds. You will need a prescription for it. With Zofran, do not wait until you get nauseated. Ondansetron works by blocking the 5HT3 receptors that are found in the brain and gut. This prevents the nausea messages being sent from these areas to the vomiting centre.
Avatar f tn Btw mommynov26 what was the Med that was prescribed to you? I was prescribed Ondansetron ( vomikind 4 mg) but that cuauses headache and worsen the constipation.
Avatar f tn You can try taking vomikind 4 mg (Ondansetron 4mg) I'm 13 weeks and my doctor prescribed me the same.
Avatar n tn My dog is vomiting. I have a prescription for Ondansetron . It is 4 MG. Can I give it to my dog? He is 13 and weighs 7.9 lbs.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Case reports have described two women who have received ondansetron during pregnancy for life-threatening hyperemesis gravidarum. No abnormalities were noted in the offspring of these two women. Ondansetron is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar f tn Zofran/Ondansetron is also used in pregnancy. I felt safe using this during pregnancy as I have known more women who have used it without any problems. it's a newer drug and works very well without the sedating side effects that promethazine can have. Here is the FDA information too. Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy.
4114400 tn?1349923931 I was so nauseated like you for the first 12 weeks. My doctor prescribed me ondansetron 8 mg and it saved me! Maybe too much because I was able to eat so much!

4705307 tn?1447970322 And not to eat anything latter at night. Also I am taking ondansetron 4 mg, it says 1 every 8 hours or as needed for nausea and vomiting. But my problems is more cramping under my sternum, it becomes in the realm of 7-8 on a 1-10, pain scale. So I see no reason to take it, cramping seems to be different to me than nausea and vomiting, although at times my ribavirin does not want to stay down, this issue is also a relatively new problem.
Avatar f tn I am 12 weeks and go through the same. Food makes me sick. My OB prescribed Ondansetron (Vomikind 4 mg)before meals so that I can manage to have food. I tablet per day or if the situation worsen up I can have one tablet in the morning and in twelve hours gap the other in the night.
2147300 tn?1369689688 I took 8 mg of Zofran every 8 hours. I did not wait to get nauseated or start vomiting (although when I started taking it I was nauseated, vomiting, and bloated. Once I got some on board, then I was able to prevent the nausea and vomiting by taking it every 8 hours. I don't see (in this blurb) how long it takes to work, but I don't think it takes long. I think it works pretty fast. It might take a couple of doses before it reaches full effect because you are already nauseated.
Avatar f tn I went to the er and got ondansetron (generic for zofran) but the doc prescribed it bc I literally kept nothing but one icee a day down. I got a script for 12 and thats it. All I know is they do not prescribe it to one indivodual in large quantities and that bc it can affect and stay in your blood for so long they have to monitor how much an individual gets.
1916673 tn?1420233270 Hi Tony, I personally used the following about a year ago, as prescribed by a Doctor. Found that it was RAPID and LONG LASTING and 100% effective. Haven't done any research or asked a Vet. All I know is, that it is EFFECTIVE and long lasting. The chemical name(s):: 'ONDANSETRON ODT'...4mg or 'ZOFRAN ODT'....4mg (Mfg.
2046312 tn?1360379600 The fat is essential in order for your body to absorb the Incivek. If you fail to eat enough fat along with each dose you might as well be flushing the pill down the toilet, as the meds will come out without having been of any use to your body. No actually, you will be much worse off than if you flushed it, because it will cause really awful side effects in your lower intestines, rectum and anus when it passes through there. Trust me, you don't want to try this.
1711722 tn?1356487554 How do you take your Zofran/Ondansetron?? My instructions are every 8 hours *as needed* but I have only been taking them once a day, after lunch, because my 3pm meds seem to cause the worst nausea. How do you take Zofran in relation to other meds? An hour before? An hour after? Only when you feel sick? What has worked best for you?? Thanks!

585414 tn?1288941302 A 2006 double-blind, randomized controlled trial indicated that ondansetron may have value in the treatment of schizophrenia, as an adjunct to haloperidol.
Avatar f tn I'm 32 weeks right now and I have been taking ondansetron to help with the nausea... And it helps out!!
Avatar f tn Ladies if your doctor has proscribed u a medication called ondansetron I wouldn't take it. That medication is an off brand name for Zofran. I just saw a commercial that it has side effects on pregnancies and can cause miscarriages. I was taking it until now and I'm 33 weeks pregnant. Mine was only 4 mg but I took about 10 or 11 pills so that's 40-44mg. I don't trust this medication even tho it's for morning sickness and nausea.
Avatar m tn For the rash and itching, I take Hydroxyzine 25 to 50 mg every 6 hours. Currently I am taking 7 tabs a day, 50 mg in the am, 25 mg about 11, 50 mg at 5p, and 50 mg at 10:30 p. I also have a prescription for clobetesol soln. and 1 for fluocinonide ointment. For me, the fluocinonide cleared up the rash that I put the ointment on (but it took a long time to do it, weeks), but then the rash just moverd next door. It did help the itching.
