Ondansetron for alcoholism

Common Questions and Answers about Ondansetron for alcoholism

zofran

Avatar f tn Ondansetron is Zofran hun. Its just the generic name for zofran. Even though theres a lawsuit, id say its more of a money maker. I took it both pregnancies and my babies came out fine. Youve got to look at whether the benefits outweigh the risk with ANY medication. If youre miserable and need to eat for baby, take it. My advice is try to only take it when u really need it, not on a regular basis. Stop as soon as symptoms ease up. Lots of water too.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is the generic for Zofran. Why would you refuse it? It's safe to take or your Dr wouldn't prescribe it to you. There's other meds out there if you don't want to take it. My Dr gave me Diclegis. It helped take the edge off the nausea.
585414 tn?1288941302 It is also in clinical study for tardive dyskinesia. Since it is FDA approved for other purposes I was allowed to try it (with mixed results) but it is part of a new class of antipsychotics in development, the 5-HT3 receptor antagonists that are being researched as adjuncts (in addition to standard antipsychotics) treatments for schizophrenia.
Avatar f tn Case reports have described two women who have received ondansetron during pregnancy for life-threatening hyperemesis gravidarum. No abnormalities were noted in the offspring of these two women. Ondansetron is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.

14868695 tn?1443396776 Has anyone taken this for nausea? Its generic for zofran which has some medical lawsuits due to it causing clef pallet and heart defects in babies. I was given one at the hospital yesterday after my ob sent me bc of a pain in my side and really bad vomiting. And now I have a prescription for it. The side effects list is soo long. It says to talk to your doctor to see if the benefits out weigh the risks. Now I don't even want to take it. :( I'm not sure what to do.
243614 tn?1266197537 I know this is the addiction forum. I use to be here too. I got off hydrocodones with the help of suboxone. So, what did i do after that. Became an alcoholic. I have been to rehab, aa meetings, therapist. i am now on naltraxone. It helps but i feel very weird on it. I am wondering if a dr.
Avatar f tn It knocks out cravings for alcohol and narcotics. It worked good for me with the narcotics. If you would drink on it you would not get sick but you would not get the effects of the alcohol. The down fall to it is if you don't have ins it is $1,000 a month for the shot where I live anyways. The pills are a lot cheaper. I don't know if you would be interested in it but just wanted to pass on the info to you.

Avatar f tn Sure thing! Also try sea bands, ginger snaps, and I'm not supposed to have salt, but found a lime salt that saves my car rides! My doctor even prescribed Ondansetron (Zofran) for me. I've even tried essential oils, but most have such an overwhelming scent it triggers even more sickness!
Avatar f tn Does any of the medicine the docs give for morning sickness actually work? Everything else Ive tried isnt helping and its so terrible! I barely get through work and if it gets any worse Im not going to be able to work I really dont want that!
Avatar f tn I was put on 50 mg of zoloft a month ago and have had nausea ever since. It seems like it's been getting worse over the last couple of weeks. Yesterday I was prescribed Ondansetron ODT 4mg. It doesn't seem to help. Will the nausea go away?

Avatar n tn I'm 29 years old and have been drinking beer quite heavily for about 4 years. On the nights that I decide not to drink, for whatever reason... I'm plagued by profuse sweating which keeps me from sleeping. I've heard that quitting drinking in some alcoholics can be dangerous. Is this true? And why do I sweat when I don't drink?
