My 16 year old daughter was diagnosed with Strep on Saturday and given Omnicef which gave her diarrhea. She went back to doctor then on Tuesday to receive a dose of LAbicillin which is supposed to cure her in 12 hours. 48 hours ago and we are still not better. SHe has white spots the size of an eraser on each side of her throat and her throat is almost swollen closed. I took her back today and they gave her clindomycein and prednisone which she had last year for mono.

On Wednesday her temperature started elevating reaching near 105. The fever would come down with Motrin and Tylenol but as soon as it would wear off, the fever would return. I took her to her pediatrician that same day where they did a strep test which came back negative, prescribed omnicef and sent us home.

2 days later, at home I was talking to my husband and decided to demonstrate the procedure to him. I blew a quick sharp breath and a wad of mucous filled tissue paper flew out from his nose and hit my cheek. Uuuughh! Ask your pediatrician and see if she recommends doing the same.

i saw a doctor and was diagnosed with sinusitis/ bronchitis, with a negative strep culture from the oropharynx. was placed on omnicef. I returned to the doctor with worsening of the arthralgia and fatigue. I have a slightly elevated ESR and CRP. My ANA is still pending. What am i possibly looking at?

Could this cause nerve damage? What about the sensory issues? Who do you suggest I take him to to treat the strep reaction? He obsesses on fixed interests. How can Dr's dispute this exists while children are out there suffering? As a parent having your child exhibit these behaviors and having to give them anti psychotic drugs at age six is horrible. I need a way to get him better and to get back the happy child he wants to be! Help?

I have a mildly sore throat that is presenting itself like strep with white pus on my tonsils (minus the severe pain, fever and other symptoms). Went to the doctor today and they tested for strep, mono and the flu. All negative. I tested for HIV today and also negative (rapid test, 5 weeks since last exposure) Wondering what else it could be? The antibiotics you have been prescribed for you Strep throat will usually quickly and effectively treat the problem. There should be no likelihood that you would pass this on to the newborn baby through a throat infection, however take the necessary precautions of hand washing, etc.

Usually they treat strep throat with antibiotics . If you went to the doctor and they said that what you had , they should gave you a prescription . At home gargle salt water , drink tea and honey . Rubbing Vicks on your neck it might help and take Tylenol if your in pain .

And strep is notoriously resistant. They now use higher doses of things and antibiotics have additive agents to help them stay potent in killing the bacteria. So, if you took the full course and are still sick, follow back up with your doctor for the next step. Knock this out hopefully soon!

t seen it after a strep throat. Sore throats can often be caused aby viruses and not strep. With a strep throat you usually get a high fever. Sometimes you can also get swollen lymph nodes under the neck. You don't always get pus (white spots on the tonsils or back of the throat) but you usually do. Strep throat can become serious so they do have to watch you. Sometimes it does go away on its own. I would definitely get the swab done.

the doctor give me a week ago 3 injections ceftraxone (to kill the strep) , and took aciclovir 1600mg per day(to treat theherpes). the tonsils are not that swollen now, after these injections, but i have kind of swollen theneck, i dont have bean shaped things, i have the left side of the neck swollen. and i have sores on my tonsils, they are very red, and tiny veryyyy tiny dots like 3, on my gums. i can eat and drink and swallow saliva, but the saliva production increased idk why.

Hi, the symptoms described could be due to an infection, most probably streptococcal or a viral infection. Strep sore throat needs to be treated with an antibiotic as strep is a bacteria. Viral sore throat is best treated with rest, warm oral fluids and (OTC) tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen for pain.

But I still have not been told by any doctor that an antibiotic is not neccessary for strep throat. They all seem to think there is no other cure. I tend to trust my doctor.

It also can cause a sore throat and other infections but is most commonly worried about because of its problems in child birth. If you are positive they will treat you during delivery or just before having the baby because of the risk of infecting the baby if you have the bacteria. So they will check a few times to see if you carry the bacteria. If you do they will treat you with antibiotics.

Hi all, wondering if you have come across information indicating that flagyl can treat babesia at the same time it's treating Lyme. I understand it's also a antiparasitic, so not sure if that counts.
