My 16 year old daughter was diagnosed with strep on Saturday and given Omnicef which gave her diarrhea. She went back to doctor then on Tuesday to receive a dose of LAbicillin which is supposed to cure her in 12 hours. 48 hours ago and we are still not better. SHe has white spots the size of an eraser on each side of her throat and her throat is almost swollen closed. I took her back today and they gave her clindomycein and prednisone which she had last year for mono.
My psychiatrist put me on Lamictal for depression around 6/3/2003 I believe. I started with 25 mgs morning and night and after 2 weeks 50 mgs morning and night. after 3 weeks total, I stopped taking it because I was not comfortable taking a medication that was off-label use for depression, there were alot of other antidepressants I haven't tried. Also I had already read about the Stevens Johnson syndrome and that scared me, even though it is rare.
my sweet little baby is 8 1/2 months old and her feet have been peeling for a month now. first a cut on the bottom of her toe, at the hot pond where she contracted a strep infection and also staph is prevelent here. we put neosporin on it and it healed. then two days later that toe peeled completely, her feet have been peeling for 3 weeks now, both of them. we're putting bactrban on it and keeping them covered with socks, it looks like a burn, it seems to help, then it will act back up again.
I developed a rash that looks like small red blisters on my hands and elbows after taking Omnicef for strep throat. Dr took me off Omnicef three days ago and put me on Zithromax instead. Still have the rash after three days off the Omnicef. It is painful and dose not seem any better. How long before rash calms down --or do I run back to my Dr?
He then was on another 10 days of omnicef as they said that maybe it wasnt enough for him so in total he had 20 days of omnicef. He then went back again after 10 days and tested positive again. He was then given clindamyacin for another 10 days and came back after that and tested positive again. He is now on azithromycin for 5 days. That finishes tom.Throughout this whole time he has run a constant fever from 100.4-101.2.sometimes higher.
If you're only having rapid testing done, without a culture backup (actually having a lab plate the swab on an agar plate and looking for the beta strep), this can miss other groups of strep, as the rapid test only picks up Group A. Hope this helps.
He tested negative for strep throat but his throat was red and swollen as well as his lymph nodes (Left larger than right). He is allergic to Amoxicillin, Augmentin, and Cephloxin (unsure of spelling). They are treating him with Omnicef 3 ml bid x 10 days. He took two doses yesterday and one this morning, with hardly any relief so far. How long does it normally take to start working? and......
My 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with strep 3 weeks ago, and on her 7.5/8th day of omnicef began to break out in itchy red splotches when scratched become hivey. I took her to her dr. and they said they were surprised at how bad it was and that it could be the antibiotic and put her on Orapred to stop the hives and itching etc. She has been on the steroid for 2 full days with nurse approved benadryl supplimenting and she is still breaking out and crying because it burns and itches so badly.
She was given omnicef for an antibiotic (she is allergic to Zithromax) About a week and a half later she was diagnosed with Pnemonia, and given anther omnicef perscription. One week later the pnemonia was getting worse, and she was hopsitalized for 2 days with IV antibiotics. We left with an additional 5 days of omnicef. Through out this time, she continues to run fevers any where from 99.5-105.
I then decided to go to an urgent care clinic which did a throat culture ( due to my very swollen tonsils) that came up positive for strep b. From all of my online research that I did on this I came up with two possibilties; a, my throat is colonized with gbs but this is not responsible for my illness, or b, this is what was wrong even though it is uncommon. The dr at the clinic put me on decatron( a steroid) and another antibiotic (omnicef) while also giving me IM shots of each.
Mepron/atovaquone and Zithromax/azithromycin for Babesiosis first, then when that was extinct, Biaxin/clarithromycin and Omnicef/cefidnir for Lyme. Took 15 months, start to finish. Overt symptoms had been few, mainly tiredness but not the crushing fatigue others of us have had. Tests were initially run on the family only at my stubborn insistence, and I was dead-dog sick with the same things, Lyme and Babesiosis. Go figure.
My son is 5 years old and has been taking Omnicef for 2 days now. He had a WBC count of 20.2 and all of the urine, strep, and other blood tests were fine. They even did an ultrasound for appendicitis. The dr put him on omnicef because they knew there was an infection happening. This evening he has broke out all over some of the spots look like red pen dots and others are blisters (I popped one and water came out) I wasn't sure. Could this be an allergic reaction? What should I do?
Never having dealt with strep I assumed the smell was from the bacteria of strep. The Amoxicillan they gave her did not work so we went back for Omnicef and after 2 doses of meds the smell was gone. Two weeks after meds the smell came back... back to the Dr. no strep... no answers.... Ive tried everything from no juice to flossing with no luck. Is this an indication of a bigger problem?
I saw a RN who only looked at my throat and took a rapid strep test. She gave me a prescription for pennicillan. Well, I took them all and thought I was better only to have it all back again! So, I am suffering with the same problem. I know that doesn't help but hey at least you know someone else out there is having the same problems.
The fever would come down with Motrin and Tylenol but as soon as it would wear off, the fever would return. I took her to her pediatrician that same day where they did a strep test which came back negative, prescribed omnicef and sent us home. The next day her temperature just kept skyrocketing, getting up to 106. That night I took her to the ER at Children's in Dallas where they ran another strep test, mono, flu, and cbc. Her mono, strep, and flu all came back negative.

I don't know if this is still the amoxicillin rash that was coming and going or if it is caused by the Omnicef.. I decided to give her the second dose of Omnicef and she did not get any more symptomatic. She is not complaining of itching anymore but the hives are still present on her neck, cheek and under her panties.. I gave her benadryl again before bedtime. Does amoxicillin rash come and go like this?? I am not sure if she is truly allergic to it or not.
I have had a sore throat and a slight feverfor two weeks. I was treated with omnicef and after the fever returned. My throat had blisters but was not very sore. A strep test showed negative and i was teated for sinus infection and tonsillitis. This has happened to me twice in the past three months. Why are the antibotics not working? Is this a more serious problem, if so, then what should I do?
My sodium level was low and my white blood count and granulocytes were very high and my lymphocytes were low. The Dr. put me on Omnicef for 10 days. I went back to the doctor a few days ago, and everything else turned out normal except now I had high Calcium and High Total Blood Protein. My Total Protein was 10.6. I am worried about the possibility of a Parathyroid Tumor with Cancer or something serious.

i saw a doctor and was diagnosed with sinusitis/ bronchitis, with a negative strep culture from the oropharynx. was placed on omnicef. I returned to the doctor with worsening of the arthralgia and fatigue. I have a slightly elevated ESR and CRP. My ANA is still pending. What am i possibly looking at?
fever for 2 days and my neck was stiff and I had this thunder clapping headache everytime I would get up from being seated and then when I would be standing and bend over to pick something up, i would get the head ache again by the time my head got around my waist. I was taking ibuprofen and omnicef at the time for the fever and strep. The headache has gone away. Of course, I did a search online of the symptoms and aneurysm kept showing.
He was put on amoxil and had an allergic reaction so he has been taking omnicef. The Dr told us this week that the omnicef has not done anything and that he was going to give him a round of antibiotic shots. So far my son has had 2 of the 3 shots. My first question is how quickly do these shots work? My other question is: Is there some underlying problem that is causing these ear infections, something more serious? He has not had any other type of infection i.e.
i have recently developed a red circular rash on my FACE that looks like ringworm but i KNOW its not......i had gone to the doctor and was treated for strep throat on 4/12/2006......they gave me a shot of anti-infamitory and prescribed me OMNICEF......as far back as i can remember i have never had any allergies to ANY medications what-so-ever....the next day i went to the dentist because of horrible pains.....
It particularly worse in the morning, and I have been taking advil for the pain. This has been going on for so long, and I'm a grad student that really can't afford to be sick. If anyone could shed some light on what this might be, I'd really appreciate it!
The high fevers, extreme fatigue and lethargy, swollen lymph nodes quick onset and length of recovery were very scary for us. Fortunately for us, our area had a HORRIBLE outbreak of swine flu with half of the student body sick from both the elementary and middle schools so it was easy for the docs to diagnose. The symptoms sound so familiar but there are so many viruses and mutations that it's sooo frustrating to pinpoint which one. Good luck to you and your daughter.
He is on zoloft for anxiety, abilify for the moods and attention and tics. Omnicef for the strep reaction. How do I know if the meds are working if he is still having these bad flair ups?.He is so sensitive and cries so easily. I notice him overreacting to things. He is in OT for the fine, gross, and visual motor delays and sensory issues, I feel now he is being treated in pieces.
About 2 weeks ago I started feeling really weak and started running a temperature. Within 24 hours I broke out with a rash over my whole body except my face. The rash was like red raised bumps that itched intensely. I went to my PCP's office and he said it looked like a papular rash and said my left tonsil looked infected and thought it could be a strep rash. He put me on Omnicef & 10 days of oral steroids. It took a good week for it to go away, although it still itched slightly.
