Hi guys, I have been taking doxy and omnicef for about 3 months. After about a month I developed a bad sore throat that continued to worsen until I could barely talk. I had constant post nasal drip, the feeling of a lump in my throat and a constructing feeling. I fear I have developed bad GERD/LPR.
I think my stomach flora is messed up from the antibiotics. I started taking a better probiotic after my throat worsened but it continued to worsen.
Afterwards, every day I have been having hives that will come up in different spots at a time and will last for about 20 mins and then go away. About three weeks ago, I then got a sore throat and had a fever. I went to the doctor and they did a strep test which came back negative and checked my blood. My sodium level was low and my white blood count and granulocytes were very high and my lymphocytes were low. The Dr. put me on Omnicef for 10 days.
I had a severe sore throat and didn't feel well last Sunday and went to the dr. on Tuesday. He said I had allergies and gave me a steroid shot. I still was not feeling well, so went to the dr. again on Saturday and she said I was really congested and had tonsillitis and gave me Omnicef. Today is Wedensday and I am really not feeling that much better and still have the white patch on my tonsil. Shouldn't I be feeling better by now?
prior to onset of above symptoms, i had an episode of a sore throat, lasting about 3 days. this cleared and i developed productive coughing, sinus pressure congestion. i saw a doctor and was diagnosed with sinusitis/ bronchitis, with a negative strep culture from the oropharynx. was placed on omnicef. I returned to the doctor with worsening of the arthralgia and fatigue. I have a slightly elevated ESR and CRP. My ANA is still pending. What am i possibly looking at?

About 1 year ago I as given Omnicef for a bacterial infection. After 3 days of tumultuous diarrhea, I finally stopped this drug but not soon enough. Ever since then, I have had stomach problems. It first started out as irregular and often BM’s, and then progressed to

As well I believe that I may have kissed her clitorial region briefly. In the following days I ended up with a head cold ( stuffy nose, very mild sore throat, heavily congested and swollen lymph nodes). I went to my local doctor and he diagnosed it as a sinus issue. He prescribed me a round of antibiotics ( omnicef). The symptoms disappeared until I was in severe cold conditions (-5) and briefly came back around. My body successfully fought of the symptoms without antibiotics.
On Tuesday, 1/12/10, my daugher was sent home from school with a temperature and an irritated throat. The fever was running between 102-103. On Wednesday her temperature started elevating reaching near 105. The fever would come down with Motrin and Tylenol but as soon as it would wear off, the fever would return. I took her to her pediatrician that same day where they did a strep test which came back negative, prescribed omnicef and sent us home.
ve started my antibiotics again and am afraid to stop the prilosec since my throat is still sore and I still get reflux. I have a throat scope in a few weeks but I doubt it will do any good for me.
Has anyone experienced this or have any advice? The reflux and sore throat are worse than my lyme symptoms and I need to get it under control so I can finish my lyme treatment. I'm afraid I may develop a permanent reflux condition.
He was put on amoxil and had an allergic reaction so he has been taking omnicef. The Dr told us this week that the omnicef has not done anything and that he was going to give him a round of antibiotic shots. So far my son has had 2 of the 3 shots. My first question is how quickly do these shots work? My other question is: Is there some underlying problem that is causing these ear infections, something more serious? He has not had any other type of infection i.e.
SHe has white spots the size of an eraser on each side of her throat and her throat is almost swollen closed. I took her back today and they gave her clindomycein and prednisone which she had last year for mono. He honestly said "I don't know what to do with you?" and walked out? SHe can't eat and she can't swallow and white spots are getting worse. WHat do I do next? Obviously not go back to the same pediatrician.
The high fevers, extreme fatigue and lethargy, swollen lymph nodes quick onset and length of recovery were very scary for us. Fortunately for us, our area had a HORRIBLE outbreak of swine flu with half of the student body sick from both the elementary and middle schools so it was easy for the docs to diagnose. The symptoms sound so familiar but there are so many viruses and mutations that it's sooo frustrating to pinpoint which one. Good luck to you and your daughter.
and she was diagnosed with Strep Throat (She normally gets strep at least 3 times/winter).She was given omnicef for an antibiotic (she is allergic to Zithromax) About a week and a half later she was diagnosed with Pnemonia, and given anther omnicef perscription. One week later the pnemonia was getting worse, and she was hopsitalized for 2 days with IV antibiotics. We left with an additional 5 days of omnicef. Through out this time, she continues to run fevers any where from 99.5-105.
Following receipt of oral sex you are at risk for gonorrhea or non-chlamydial NGU. Chlamydia is effectively not present in the throat and thus there is no risk for chlamydia from your exposure. Gonorrhea is more likely to be symptomatic than non-chlamydial NGU but either could typically become symptomatic as early as two days although 3-4 days would be more typical. On the other hand, anxiety can also mimic these subtle early symptoms of gonorrhea as well.
My advice.
Hi and so sorry you have this problem. Do you have pus in your throat and/o a high fever? There is an anaerobic (grows without oxygen) bacteria that can be in your throat normally or can cause chronic sore throat. It is called Fusobacterium necrophorum. It isn't always seen in the throat and the regular antibiotics wouldn't work on it You may need metronidazole. That is if you are not allergic to it.
Toddlers tend to put their hands in their mouths alot ( and my son ***** his thumb when he is sleepy).I wash his hands often but he still gets these throat infections. Except for a period when he went about 4 months without any problem, he gets the infections about every three to four weeks or so. On occasion, if his throat is only a little red, he will get over it on his own. But more often that not, his throat is very infected and ulcers develop so that he needs an antibiotic.
