Omeprazole zantac

Common Questions and Answers about Omeprazole zantac

prilosec

Avatar n tn Now due to the pregnancy, it seemed to worsen as I experience painful heartburns. My doctor recommends I take omeprazole along with antacids. I've been taking antacids because I know they don't bare side effects on pregnancy. I am not sure though with omeprazole. I'm scared. I am afraid it might harm the baby. Anyone here experienced the same?
Avatar n tn The GI doc has me switching off omeprazole (prilosec) in the morning and ranitidine (zantac) before bed. Switching the two helps and of course watching what I eat and drink, Right now I am uncomfortable from my dinner - the giant milk shake was a bit too much milk and sugar for me. I have no saage advice for this one.... but can definitely commiserate.
Avatar f tn Thank you. So, I go in for another liver enzyme blood test in a month. I guess I should stop taking both omenprazole and zantac until then? Is that what you would do? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Hi! Just found out today im 5weeks pregnant. Im currently taking omeprazole 40mg a day and i need to stop its rated a class C for pregnancy. However when i stopped before i had horrendous heartburn i was so miserable i was prescribed zantac but that didnt work. I am also prescribed lorezapam 0.5mg but have only been taking a half a day. I know thats VERY BAD TO USE. I dont have any problem with quitting that just have to find ways to calm my anxiety. But my omperazole i am.
Avatar f tn would you say its safe to mix Zantac 75 and omeprazole..??
Avatar f tn If it quits working then switch off of the H2 Antagonist drugs (zantac, pepcid etc) and go to the PPI (omeprazole etc) as they are much stronger and instead of reducing stomach acid they turn it off altogether.
Avatar n tn Take some OTC antacid like Mylanta. You can also take zantac(ranitidine)or prilosec (omeprazole). These will help. Also keep your fluid electrolyte balance optimum by drinking lots of fluids. If the symptoms worsen then it may be due to H.Pylori infection. You need antibiotics in that case after prescription from a physician. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn I'm taking omeprazole for acid reflux's. Is there a similar medicine that does not carry the dizziness label. My acid reflux's is low.
6778631 tn?1396407123 I am on omeprazole as it's the only thing that works for me. Have had acid reflux from the very start, not nice at all!
Avatar n tn I'd ask your doctor this question. I do know that some PPI's reduce the effectiveness of some cholesterol meds by about 4%, at least that is what I was told.
8960138 tn?1407673893 I have had heartburn for over a year now,i think i might have something more severe,i waz taking zantac 150,then i found something that worked more better,Omeprazole Magnesium(compare to preacid) but now that am pregnant i dont kno what to take i stop taking everything, and my heartburn is killing me alive,i cant sleep i cant eat or eat anything..and i heard tums are the only thing a preg woman can take..but those work only for 10mins then i start again =""((...

1088529 tn?1256844030 I've just started taking zantac, and I don't know if I'll have any side effects, or if my regular symptoms (stomach pain, upset stomach) will become apparent or come back. My question is this; if I get nauseous, stomach pain, upset stomach etc. as a side effect or other, can I take tums to calm my stomach down? Or will it just make things worse? I can't talk to my doctor because (a) don't have an appointment and (b) am too young to drive there or get an appointment myself.
Avatar n tn Will that harm the baby my doctor prescribed me prilosec and I'm a little hesitant about taking them
Avatar n tn but im thinking of trying zantac for her the least doisage possible just to cjeck if it will reduce the spitting and the crankiness after feeds, but i also don't want her tummy to get used to it since my self i have been on omeprazole for years and can't live without it.. it's only during my pregnancy that I have changed to zantac and in severe cases pariet or lanzor.
Avatar f tn I take 20 mg of omeprazole a day, carafate 1 g 2xdaily, and Zantac 300 at bedtime. I have cirrhosis with hepatic gastropathy and my stomach is a mess. My transplant hepatologist said it was better than a bleed. Better check.
Avatar n tn I have diagnosed GERD, hiatal hernia, gastritis and reflux that aspirates into my lungs. I take either Zantac or Omeprazole, depending on how I feel. My liver doctor says that many hepatic patients take them and with my diagnosis I need to stay on medication. I worry because I do not want extra stress on my liver, but also know that I have another health issue that needs medication. Believe me, I have tried every and all non reflux medication options and they do not work for me.
7797471 tn?1397188658 I take omeprazole which I think is the off brand Prilosec. And I'm also allowed to take Pepcid twice a day. It really helps. Don't keep all symptoms down and I still have to watch What I eat but it's definitely better than being on nothing.
Avatar f tn ve been getting much worse this past week. Had a lot of nausea going on and got prescribed Zantac (ranitidine). Took my first dose the night before last, was feeling a little better yesterday afternoon, then in the evening I ate a baked sweet potato and felt bloated, crampy, and tight all over my back and abdomen. I was also feeling lightheaded and weak while I was having these feelings.
Avatar f tn The doctor told me Pepcid or Zantac. It worked for a lot of my friends but not me. Milk actually worked though.
Avatar n tn I finally took Zantac, since i was relying on tums and they would stop working after 15 minutes. Eating too many tums is bad, and just changing my diet hadn't helped since even water gives me heartburn.
Avatar f tn Maybe one of the antacids like prevacid, prilosec. Another one is Omeprazole that you can buy over the counter. Two more, Pepcid and Zantac. Otherwise, go to the doc.
393685 tn?1425812522 Try Zantac...it's like is a magic in a bottle...it's the only thing that works for me when the martini bug bites :) Hope you feel better...
Avatar n tn With additional advice I decided to stay on the Proton Pump Inhibitor (Omeprazole). It seems that extended use is supposedly not harmful to the body. I take a 20mg tablet daily and I can function fully and eat and drink absolutely anything as long as I have had the capsule. I soon know about it if I forget to take it! That seldom happens I assure you. My question is: I have at least one bowel movement daily - usually after I get up in the morning.
Avatar n tn Zantac! It's completely safe and the only thing that works for me.
