Dicyclomine is a commonly prescribed drug and is well tolerated by most patients, though a few may experience minor side effects. Major side effects are rare to occur. Hope this information is helpful. Take care!
I was just curious to see if any of you have already wrapped up your 12 weeks of Incivek. If so, did your side effects get any better? Since I have to treat 48 weeks I have been counting down the days until the Incivek is over and hoping that things will get a little easier once this part is over. Thanks!
Just to warn you all that some people (me being one of them) experience severe side effects to Omeprazole that are not listed in package inserts or drug info that the pharamacy gives you with your perscription. Check out askapatient.com and search for omeprazole or prilosec. I was taking 40mg omeprazole for almost 3 weeks and it caused severe anxiety, chest pain, dizziness, tight feeling in my throat, arm and leg weakness, abdominal pain, insomnia, and high BP.I thought I was dying.
He has prescribed Omeprazole 40 mg 2 x a day. Levsin for cramping that I have a horrible time taking due to chronic dry mouth and it doesn't seem to help much. Zofran as needed for nausea. I take low dose Xanax. I also started using Gas X. He prescribed Nortriptyline, which I have not started taking yet due to dry mouth side effects. I have been to the ER 3 times now due to stomach pain and bloating and nausea. I also have been having problems with hacking phelgm buildup in my throat.
Saw an endo doc and she told me to not take the Nexium or Omeprazole (Prilosec) due to the possible side effects. Called my doc the other day because I have had stomach pain and feeling of nausea. He tells me to take the Omeprazole!!! Next day, no better so asked the pharmacist if I could take it 3 times a day instead of twice. He told me I was already on twice the dose and should only be taking it once a day (20 mg).
My GI doctor here doesn't like that idea due to my numerous medication reactions and my BP usually runs on the low end. My Internist dies not like that due to me having major dental issues now from the dry mouth. He wants me to try low dose estrogen for a month to see if it helps the night sweats. I am 63, long past menopause, and am afraid of side effects from that, nausea being one! I have tried two different probiotics and both made me feel worse.
Well, it is now after 11:00 pm and I am no better. I finally tried to eat some soup and crackers. Mtook another Omeprazole before. Still bloated, nauseated and "extremely" dry mouth and throat. Biotene products, drinking water, sucking sugarless lemon lozenges, nothing helps. Was laying down watching TV and again broke out in a sweat. Tried taking a Tums, no help. The GI doc gave me a prescription for generic Levsin. I have never taken this before. Side effects scare me.
An endoscope is run down the esophagus where suction pulls a flap of tissue down in order to guard the esophageal opening from the harmful effects of stomach acid. Fasteners keep the tissue permanently in place where it will eventually fuse to function naturally. At the end of recovery, a protective barrier prevents acid reflux and the symptoms that go along with it.
The problem with Levsin is that it has a well known side effect for dry mouth. I don't understand why he has you on Omeprazole for IBS, it's a PPI and helps with problems related to stomach acid. Did he say what it's supposed to be doing? You could also see about doing low doses of anti-depressants if anti-spastics don't work for you.
GI doc has me on Omeprazole, then Generic Levsin, then Dicyclomine, which was really drying me out and I have chronic dry mouth and throat. He told me to go back to the Kevsin. I hate taking pills, mso usually try half. Last week was having irregular heartbeats for overv2 days so finally went to the ER. Doc there decided it was the Levsin and said to stop it. Finally got my own doctor who said to stop the Levsin and the Dicyclomine. Great!
Dry mouth, headache, nausea, sweating, somnolence, insomnia, diarrhea, constipation, decreased appetite, sexual dysfunction, fatigue, pyrexia, sinusitis, rash, pruritus, bradycardia, tachycardia, hypertension, hypotension, spontaneous abortion. would this delay my seroconversion or window period? thx again and sorry for the bother.
I am afraid of side effects as I suffer from dry mouth and throat horribly, negative biopsies for Sjorgens. Anyone else gone through this or taken Clonodine?
I stopped taking the omeprazole as it didn’t appear to be working and last thing I feel I need if I have anything to do with nerves is a medication that depletes vitamin B 12, one of its side effects. Horrible intermittent sensations in chest and throat (either side of windpipe) that can last for up to or over an hour. Difficult to describe – internal quivering/discomfort almost pain. Also under ribs on both sides. Slight headache.
He also gave me generic Levsin, which didn't seem to help much. He then gave me Dicyclomine to take 4 times a day. I have chronic dry mouth and throat and now problems with phlegm. He advised I try the Levsin again. 3 nights ago, I was noticing heart palpitations that continued into the next day and night. Of course, could not get my doctor so went to the ER and was put on a monitor and they saw the pal patios.
my mouth and tongue feel like they're constantly burning and my throat is so dry. I've had to stop taking gaviscon as it burns my mouth, throat and wind pipe. i'm off to see the doctor again but really need some advice what to do next. I'm worried this constant acid will lead to damaging my vocal chords, throat and other. i'm at a total loss what to do. i did have a endoscopy 2 yrs ago and they found slight gastritis and the p.h monitor was fairly normal then.
You might try a chamomile tea or Kava tea which are natural antidepressants with hardly any side effects. I think the only side effects are that you have to pee more often. You might want to try a Liver Detox available at your health food store also. They usually contain Burdock root which is known to safely cleanse the liver. - I had a CT scan of my brain because I'm afraid to get a tumor (my Dad died of a malignant brain tumor).
Thank you so much for your help..........I also would like to know if you might know what kind of side effects there are for the Prilosec? I hate taking things, but will if I have to.........it took a while of suffering before I even started one Pepcid a day..........:-) Thank you again!

I realize I need to make an appointment with a Gastro doctor but I want to know what all of my options may be to treat the problem instead of just the symptoms.. I also do not trust the long term effects of these drugs. Thanks. Rick S.

my father has this, his is accompanied with xerostomia (dry mouth), which is a complication of his smoking. what i recommend for everyone is to start taking your b vitamins, mainly folate and riboflavin, of course to stop smoking, and avoid unneccassary antibiotics. these are the measures we took for him, your case could differ greatly, good luck MD.
However, my mouth and throat are dry. ENT doc cannot come up with a cause. Dentist doesn't see anything although I now have an infected tooth on that side. This is now constant and so irritating and I often feel like I am going to choke. I can't blow this stuff out or cough it out, other than a little bit once in a while. Am constantly trying to clear my throat and doc told me to stop doing that. What do you do if you are choking? I drink fluids all the time, chew gum, etc.

I have been on methotrexate, oral weekly for 5 yrs, self injected therapy for last 3 yrs and Crohn's in remission. My GP said mtx can't cause these side effects, and I didn't have them before Arimidex/tamoxifen. Hope Annie sees a gastro, oncologist or even her PCP and gets some relief. If I can help Annie in any way further, let me know. Liz.
