Avatar n tn I'm taking omeprazole for acid reflux's. Is there a similar medicine that does not carry the dizziness label. My acid reflux's is low.
Avatar f tn hi my lpr started the same way as yours did a heavy cold then these strange symptoms, i doubted the condition also at first, the doctor precribed omeprazole which i took for 6 months they had no effect so i went back and he put me on nexium 400mg once a day which worked for me after taking them for about 3 months.the only symptom i have now is from time to time is asthma which i was told is related to lpr.
974371 tn?1424653129 ve had problems in the past. I was on and off Nexium for some time but the last time I took it, for 4 or 5 mos straight, I had side effects of bad muscle pain. I know this drug is in the same class. Was wondering if anyone has used the Omeprazole DR and, if so, any problems/side effects? Did it seem to help?
Avatar m tn If you are taking a PPI such as prilosec or the generic omeprazole, peopl ehave reported the high BP as a side effect. I took 40mg omeprazole for 3 weeks and it elevated my BP.
709686 tn?1277432159 Esomeprazole (Nexium) is slightly different than omeprazole (Prilosec). But your body could react the same way. You could try a small amount and see. There are some combo otc drugs by Rolaids and others that have an antacid and famotidine (acid reducer). Those probably don't work as well.
Avatar n tn Really I am thinking that my body is constantly in distress because of my stomach digestive issues. Anyone have advice, or any suggestions? I have been on prevacid, protonix, omeprazole, aciphex and now the nexium. Please help me!
Avatar f tn Thanks ladies! I did not even know I could take Tim's or ro laids during pregnancy this is my first so I am learning alot!!
Avatar n tn Is it possible to have a reverse reaction to Nexium / omeprazole? It never really made the symptoms of my recently diagnosed hiatal hernia caused reflux (lump in throat, mostly) go away. It seemed to help for 2 weeks, but after 1 month it seemed to aggravate GERD symptoms. I am reading a lot on the subject, experimenting with diet and relaxation and the occasional spoonful of Maalox. I relate to the person who said they felt fine until after the endoscopy.
Avatar f tn I have been on and off Nexium and Omeprazole off and on since 2015. I have had 2 endoscopies. The one in 2015 showed a small hiatal hernia and mild gastritis and the one in 2017 did not show a hernia and looked pretty good. I am grateful for any help.
Avatar m tn The recommended treatment is 90 days use of an antiacid of the PPI class, ( Proton Pump Inhibitors ), like Omeprazole, ( Prilosec ), or Pantoprazole, ( Protonix ) for example, at low dose but TWICE a day BEFORE meals. Zantac, ( Ranitidine ) or otherantiacids of its class, ( H2 Blocker ), wont work well in the case of LPR. It is of extreme importance to visit an ENT speciallist to evaluate your throat, specially your vocal cords.
Avatar f tn I am.trying to.wean myself.off nexium after 10 yrs, as I feel food has been.fermenting in my stomach, symptoms r.reflux hrs after eating bringing up.food, smelly wind, sore bowels, itchy nd burning bottom. Iv put lots.of weight on and have bone and joint pain 24-7. I feel original symptoms were due to emotional problems and depression not being treated, my doc is not interested in.helping cus of budget cuts, I'm.
Avatar f tn Most knowledgeable hepatologists prescribe proton pump inhibitor (PPI) drugs like Nexium or Prilosec. Both are generally considered liver friendly; omeprazole is available generically if cost is an issue.
Avatar n tn t allow Nexium to be sold/patented because it was so similar to Prilosec. Prilosec = Omeprazole vs Nexium = Esomeprazole, just go with Omeprazole and pay the generic copay.
Avatar n tn My mother was on long term acid blocker nexium (similar to prilosec (omeprazole) but more powerful) and these were some of the dozens of symptoms that she no longer suffers with since stopping nexium... severe major clinical depression, severe anxiety, severe constant fungal infections, homocysteine in imminent heart attack range, severe angina pain, severe stomach pain (nexium worsened her gastritis), sky high blood pressure - given less than 5 years to live by an international specialist.
Avatar n tn Have you actually had your stomach acid pH tested to confirm you have too much acid? The most common cause of non obstructive acid reflux/GERD is insufficient stomach acid. Recommended to try digestive enzyme supplements which can be used with high or low stomach acid to help digest food and help prevent acid reflux/GERD. To make up for stomach acid insufficiency, try betaine HCI with pepsin supplements or apple cider vinegar. Acid blockers are short term drugs only.
Avatar f tn I have had an endoscopy, I have inflammation of my stomach (GERD) and esophagitis, but my doctor thought my symptoms would be alleviated by now with all the different medicines I have tried (nexium, omeprazole, prevacid). Yet still, none of these have brought relief! Sorry to hear about your daughter, I can't imagine having such a problem from birth, poor thing!
Avatar m tn The mixture of Metroprolol, Ezitrol, Lipitor, Ramipril, Isordil, Plavix, Nexium and Aspro and now Coralan leaves me feeling quite week and lathargic and always very tired. My BP is steady at around 100/60, my cholesterol is below 4. I did used to walk about 2km a day before I started Coralan even though I got angina, but now I feel I just dont have the energy to do the walk to see if I still get angina. Not sure what yer answer might be but thought Id write this down anyway.
Avatar f tn For almost 10 years since the age of 16 I have been experiencing heartburn type symptoms. I've had numerous doctors tell me it could be heartburn, hiatal hernia, and/or a peptic ulcer. I have an appointment for an endoscopy coming up to figure out the exact cause. I've been prescribed omeprazole 20mg which does not even seem to make any kind of dent in relieving symptoms as well as over the counter medications.
Avatar n tn would Nexium pose the same problems for her?
974371 tn?1424653129 Really makes dry mouth wires and some constipation. Omeprazole 2 or 3 months but have cut the dose, he said that was ok. I had problems on Nexium. Zofran prescribed when Levsin was to take as needed. Again woke up T about 5:00 am sweating and stomach getting upset and bloating and nausea. Took Xanax, Levsin and Gas X, no better. Something isn't right. I am sick! Wonder if I should get a second opinion. This is about daily now.
Avatar f tn I cannot get Protonix any longer through my health insurance and was wondering if someone took something else as effective. Prilosec and Nexium do not have as good as effect as Protonix for me. Thanks.
Avatar n tn The active components in Nexium are esomprazole magnesium and in Prilosec are Omeprazole Magnesium. Also, Nexium comes in 20 mg and 40 mg capsules and Prilosec is sold over the counter in 20 mg tablets. My GI switched me to Nexium because Aciphex gave me terrible side effects and Protonix made my water brash symptoms ever worse. I have tried Prilosec in the past and it didn't have much of an effect for me.
Avatar f tn I should add that I’ve been taking PPIs everyday for 5 months and it’s not helping. Tried Omeprazole 40mg, Pantoprozole 40mg, nexium 40mg, rabeprazole 20mg with domperidone, vocinti 20mg.
Avatar m tn I am a woman in her late 30's. I have been taking omeprazole for 2 years now. I was instructed to take it by a ENT doctor for healing of my esophagus due to acid erosion(scarring) caused by silent reflux. (Diagnosed via endoscopy) I have noticed a decrease in hunger, lack of "growling" of the stomach. Has anyone else experienced this? Is long term use of omeprazole really safe?
