Avatar f tn I have to stop omeprazole two weeks before a blood test to see if i have coeliac. Previous blood tests shoe that i'm anaemic & have low vitamin b12 levels. Does anyone know how long omeprazole take before it gets out of your system. I would appreciate any ideas or if anyone has the same thing...
Avatar n tn Significant history is cholecystectomy (no stones), coeliac disease diagnosed by gene testing because on steroid therapy, history of ulcers while on omeprazole (currently taking 80mg) day and last endoscopy was clear, small sliding hiatus hernia, past investigation for pheo (2003), MIBG revealed two minor spots which were considered not important. The plan now is for an endoscopy and then an octreotide scan.
Avatar n tn Could stopping zyrtec about 4 mos ago and starting omeprazole about 3mos ago cause ventricular arrythmia eg bigeminy? Could a histamine reaction cause this type of arrythmia?
Avatar f tn I have been on 40mg of omeprazole (time release) for about 5 or 6 weeks now, and over the past 2 or 3 weeks I have noticed that I have a recurring cough. It feels like I have severe "tickle" in my throat right at that soft indentation above my clavicles. It comes and goes several times throughout the course of the day and I notice it's usually worse right when I lie down to go to sleep at night. I've never had a cough like this before...
Avatar m tn Following a valve replacement and triple bypass I was discharged from Hospital with a number of drugs and a new one being Omeprazole. I did not know why it was prescribed but after a number of months taking it I decided after discussion with my Doctor to stop taking it. A few months later through the night I got this terrible chest pain on a scale of 1-10 I guess it was 7-8.
Avatar m tn At first my wife had urinary infection, few weeks later she started to have fever and stomach problems, the docter told her it was a gastroenteritis. I bought her omeprazole and gave her amoxicilline, that worked. She felt fine, but few weeks later she had urinary infection symptoms again. The doctor gave her antibiotics again, that helped her.
Avatar f tn I have GERD and a hiatal hernia and have been taking omeprazole twice a day every day for a few months (I had been on Prevacid for several years before the omeprazole but insurance won't cover it any more). If your main symptom is burping, I would try going off of the omeprazole and switching to gas-x or some other type of gas relief medicine. As long as you aren't having a lot of problems with heartburn or acid reflux, you would probably be fine to discontinue using the omeprazole.
Avatar n tn is omeprazole a nercotic pain killer? i know some medications that may b addicting so i thought i would double check..also i had seen that u can take in an i.v is this true and if so how?
Avatar n tn I keep forgetting to take my omeprazole dr 20 mg 30 minutes before meals, can I take it after the meal.
Avatar m tn Hi, Do you think a different manufacturer, could possibly make a slightly diffrent product,or maybe a different coating ? that could change the makeup of Omeprazole, or any other product for that matter.
Avatar n tn Now due to the pregnancy, it seemed to worsen as I experience painful heartburns. My doctor recommends I take omeprazole along with antacids. I've been taking antacids because I know they don't bare side effects on pregnancy. I am not sure though with omeprazole. I'm scared. I am afraid it might harm the baby. Anyone here experienced the same?
Avatar m tn Hi. I am taking omeprazole for laryngopharyngeal reflux for the past 2 days. I am supposed to take two pills daily, one before breakfast and one before dinner. Today, i started having this feeling that food is stuck in my chest and back of my throat but I don't have any problems swallowing. It is an uncomfortable feeling in my chest. I did not have this symptom prior to starting the drug. Is this a side effect of the drug?
Avatar f tn Was not heartburn was not Gerd like symptoms. Any rate she put me on omeprazole. Just this year I weaned myself off of it at my endocrinologist urgings. The reason being as he explained it was to allow the production of stomach acid to help with the absorption of medication‘s that are much needed. Basically his comment was “any day that you take omeprazole is a day that your medication is not going to help you” and in all fairness to him I had already read some articles about that.
Avatar m tn Right before we left, I could tell I had a sinus infection, as I have a long history of sinus issues. I also have stomach issues, history of a couple ulcers. A couple of ENT's have told me I have obvious signs of GERD, though I don't often have indigestion, sometimes I can taste acid in the morning. Anyway, I saw a doc when I arrived in Denver and she gave me Biaxin for the sinus infection. Only it doesn't seem to have cleared up.
Avatar f tn My husband is a type 2 diabetic, 65-years-old with a family history but no personal history of heart disease. He has a history of acid reflux, but has never had actual pain from reflux in the past. Medications are omeprazole, Lotrel, atenolol, metformin, Zocor, Lantus and Humalog. His BP is well controlled and so is his cholesterol according to his quarterly blood work. His A1c is around 7. The first of February he had a spinal cord stimulator implanted for back and leg pain.
Avatar n tn It can also be gastric reflux due to weak esophageal sphincter or due to hiatal hernia. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food. Walking around also helps clear gas. It can also be an allergic reaction to something you eat. Hence you may need food challenge test.
Avatar n tn Sorry this is going to be a long one. It all started one day at work. I was driving to a job and felt a pressure in my chest. Considering my family's history of heart disease I took this very seriously and went to the ER right away despite the fact I'm only 29. They did all sorts of tests including one they said meant they were 99% sure I did not have a heart attack. Despite this the slight pressure in my chest has continued ever since.
Avatar m tn Have been taking 40 mg. of omeprazole for GERD which was diagnosed a year and a half ago. Primary care sent me to ENT for the cough, who did a scope of my throat and sinuses and didn't see anything she thought would cause the cough. ENT tried increasing the omeprazole to 80 mg. (40 mg. 2 times a day) for GERD with no change in my cough and now is treating me with QVal inhaler thinking it could be my lungs.
Avatar n tn I'm a 27yr old female who started having chest pains about 2 days ago. They are centered on the left side of my chest, near the breastbone. Today, I also developed a cough, and noticed that my upper back and shoulders hurt. I've tried taking ibuprofin, but that doesn't seem to help, and I'm worried that this is something serious, but I also know I have a history of nasty seasonal allergies and upper respiratory infections. Advice?

Avatar f tn First I will start with the history. I am 28, male, white, 6'2, 275. Daily medicine is Omeprazole taken everyday for 3 years and Allegra everday for 2 years. Two years ago I started to have migraines. The first one I had was in the middle of work. It just came on out of nowhere and didn't last long but returned a few minutes later. Which began a cycle of what I thought was cluster headaches. I would get stabbing pains for about a minute or two then a few minutes of relief.
Avatar m tn I am 35 yr old male, and recently had strong stomach pain (between chest bone and the navel). I had previous pain history with gaps of months/years .. also I sometimes develop sliva formation in mouth after I eat. This time I had fever which shot up to 105 in just 3 hrs... also fresh blood in stool. Went to emergency and the doc after examining said asked for blood test for H pylori (he mentioned there was no trace of piles etc). The blood test was positive and now I am under triple regimen ..

Avatar m tn Hence you need to investigate for liver and gall bladder issues, pancreatitis with tests for serum amylase and lipase, and to rule out acidity or duodenal ulcer by taking omeprazole and seeing if your pain responds to it. It can also be muscle injury, or nerve compression. Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into.
Avatar m tn Last month my gastro doctor upgraded my omeprazole from 20mg to 40mg - mainly because my insurance company doesn't cover omeprazole 20mg anymore because it is available over the counter. So I have been taking 40mg once a day for about a month. Lately my stomach has been feeling a little queasy with bloated gas. I'm wondering if I'm getting too much omeprazole and may have too little acid.
