I've had triple bypass surgery within the last year, and had surgery caused by acid reflux two years ago, so have taken all the drugs you are taking, I'll bet, including Omeprazole. Your heart drugs have many more side effects than Omeprazole. I'm guessing that during your surgery and consequent blood tests, it was determined you showed signifcant GERD problems, hence the Omeprazole prescription. Like you were advised by boognell, I'd take it, and soon.

Hi. I am taking omeprazole for laryngopharyngeal reflux for the past 2 days. I am supposed to take two pills daily, one before breakfast and one before dinner. Today, i started having this feeling that food is stuck in my chest and back of my throat but I don't have any problems swallowing. It is an uncomfortable feeling in my chest. I did not have this symptom prior to starting the drug. Is this a side effect of the drug?

I have had many tests on my heart over the past 10 months, all come back as normal. I do have occasional ventricular bigeminy. My doctor says the chest pains and burning sensations are probably gastric or maybe caused by anxiety. He prescribed omeprazole in July, I took 10 and saw no change although I did blame an attack of palpitations on them. I have started on Omeprazole again, for 4 days now (20 mg once a day).

a few weeks ago I wake up from sleep and felt there is something wrong with my heart beat. I counted my heart rate and it was 50bpm. I had a sense of panic that my heart will stop soon. the day after I went to see a hear specialist. he took many tests(mostly because I did insist), electrocardiogram, echocardiography and exercise test(the test that you run on a treadmill and computer records electrocardiogram). he said everything is alright and there is nothing to worry.

I have acid reflux bad I take omeprazole 40 mg I ran out of my meds and started taking over the counter omeprazole I had bad skips and sweats that caused me to go to the ER they did a stress on my heart said it was fine could there be a problem going on in my esophegous causing these heart symptoms? Help desperate for peace of mind!

22 weeks and I have alot of heart burn does anyone else have this

I had terrible heart burn the entire pregnancy. It was unbearable the second trimester up until week 30. Now I rarely get any. I read it's supposed to get worse the bigger baby gets. Anyone else had their heart burn dissapear???

If you think you might have acid reflux and your doctor gave you omeprazole to take and you take it but dont actually have acid reflux would that hurt you or just do nothing?

I take Omeprazole... it's the only thing that works for me. So many people confuse acid reflux w/ heart burn & it's definitely not the same thing. I was prescribed Omeprazole way before I became pregnant. Over the counter medicines just don't work for me.

I have been desperately trying to quit Omeprazole for the last 5 years but have had so much problem with extreme acid release it seems I'll be with it for my life. Of course noone knows yet the result of taking omeprazole for a lifetime, mice had cancer after weeks but human might as well after decades. I can't replace omeprazole with ranitidine, as the latter doesn't seem to work at all. I've been able to lower the dose to about one 20mg in two days but not more.

This gave me like heart attack... chest burning and it was so strong that I had to call my friend who took me to hospital... doctor after examining gave me PANTOPRAZOLE 20MG to use before breakfast... I tried 3 days & it didn’t helped... Then I went to other doctor & he gave ESOMEPRAZOLE 40MG which I tried for 3 days & no improvement at all... So it’s very clear that I am living in 3rd world country with no good doctor.

Iam 8 weeks and iam getting heart burn. What can i do to help it.?

At first my wife had urinary infection, few weeks later she started to have fever and stomach problems, the docter told her it was a gastroenteritis. I bought her omeprazole and gave her amoxicilline, that worked. She felt fine, but few weeks later she had urinary infection symptoms again. The doctor gave her antibiotics again, that helped her.

I have GERD and a hiatal hernia and have been taking omeprazole twice a day every day for a few months (I had been on Prevacid for several years before the omeprazole but insurance won't cover it any more). If your main symptom is burping, I would try going off of the omeprazole and switching to gas-x or some other type of gas relief medicine. As long as you aren't having a lot of problems with heartburn or acid reflux, you would probably be fine to discontinue using the omeprazole.

is omeprazole a nercotic pain killer? i know some medications that may b addicting so i thought i would double check..also i had seen that u can take in an i.v is this true and if so how?

I keep forgetting to take my omeprazole dr 20 mg 30 minutes before meals, can I take it after the meal.

Hi, Do you think a different manufacturer, could possibly make a slightly diffrent product,or maybe a different coating ? that could change the makeup of Omeprazole, or any other product for that matter.

Now due to the pregnancy, it seemed to worsen as I experience painful heartburns. My doctor recommends I take omeprazole along with antacids. I've been taking antacids because I know they don't bare side effects on pregnancy. I am not sure though with omeprazole. I'm scared. I am afraid it might harm the baby. I had belching all the time on omeprazole. It never treated that symptom. I have quit omeprazole and am now retesting for h pylori and am awaiting gallbladder tests as well. A dr should always investigate reflux that does not respond entirely to omeprazole. I did a soft, slow cooked soup diet for three to four days then I moved into a regular gerd friendly diet where I eat something just about every one to two hours until dinner and after dinner no food or snacks unless it is an apple snack.

Pain in your chest (behind your left breast) could be acidity or heart burn. Antacids give relief. The other reason could be due to esophageal reflux, where the food in your stomach is thrown up into your food pipe or esophagus. This also causes burning sensation or discomfort/pain in the chest area. Cough or heart problems too cause discomfort/pain in chest area. I would strongly recommend you see a physician about this.

I originally was getiing very bad heartburn and then one day i thought i was having a heart attack. Went to doctors was told it was acid reflux had an ecg was all fine. I took the 40mg omperazole once a day for a month and i was still gettin very bloated to the point were i could not catch my breath and was causing left shoulder pain. I had to wait 2 weeks for and endoscopy.

This is a problem I did not have 4 weeks ago until I quite taking omeprazole. There are studies that show omeprazole does help obstructive sleep apnea. So here I am, omeprazole caused severe itchy skin but helps sleep apnea. Oral steroid stopped the itchy skin but screws with my head and makes me miserable. It appears I am in a CATCH-22 situation.

Was not heartburn was not Gerd like symptoms. Any rate she put me on omeprazole. Just this year I weaned myself off of it at my endocrinologist urgings. The reason being as he explained it was to allow the production of stomach acid to help with the absorption of medication‘s that are much needed. Basically his comment was “any day that you take omeprazole is a day that your medication is not going to help you” and in all fairness to him I had already read some articles about that.
