Avatar f tn I was recently hospitalized for intense stomach cramping, heartburn, nausea and vomiting. I have had issues with heartburn for years now, and it turns out that I have an excess amount of acid in my stomach and that my stomach is inflamed. I was prescribed 40mg Omeprazole, but bought the 20mg Omeprazole over the counter and have been taking 2 each morning instead. It ha been 3 days (and three doses) and I have had EXTREME severe diarrhea.
Avatar f tn I have GERD and a hiatal hernia and have been taking omeprazole twice a day every day for a few months (I had been on Prevacid for several years before the omeprazole but insurance won't cover it any more). If your main symptom is burping, I would try going off of the omeprazole and switching to gas-x or some other type of gas relief medicine. As long as you aren't having a lot of problems with heartburn or acid reflux, you would probably be fine to discontinue using the omeprazole.
Avatar m tn The specialist made me feel awful asking me what do you normally take for heartburn and discharged me with Gaviscon. I have had heartburn before but nothing on this scale, it was agony. I spoke to my Doctor who suggested going back on Omeprazole which I did. I have not had any problems since but I would like to stop taking it but would not like to go through a similar experience. Is acid reflux common after open heart surgery?
Avatar m tn I am now on week six so this has dramatically changed my social life and I am now on 20mg of omeprazole. For the first month it started ok. I cut Alcohol, spicy food, all fizzy drinks, orange juice. Now I'm faced with crippling stomach pain, the belching is back and as worse as when I used to drink. I throw up bright yellow acidic sick and have diarohea frequently. I have to wait 2 weeks till my GP appointment. I'm still taking omeprazole, I'm exhausted and I need help.
9663463 tn?1407525554 I asked my ob for something stronger he prescribed malox which is still over the counter. I am almost 32 wks and my baby is so high I seem to always have acid reflux. Also dont lay down for an hr or more after eating to let your food settle some.
Avatar n tn Sounds weird but i started cooking with coconut oil and my heartburn reduced a lot!
Avatar f tn Take some TUM TUM TUM TUM TUMS anticid®, for heartburn relief. Always work for me. Hate the chalky taste but they seem to work, so I look past that. If that does not work, try Pepcid, Gaviscon, Prilosec OTC, Omeprazole, Pepto, Zegerid OTC, Equate Acid Relief or Alka-Seltzer. If you do not want to go to the store, try a quick remedy-- baking soda or cold milk. And also, you can use PregEase. It treats morning sickness and heartburn.
Avatar m tn My doctor says I have esophagitis, and prescribed for me 20 mg omeprazole for 4 weeks. I am taking it now for 6 days and don't see any improvement yet. The drug reviews say it usually takes up to 4 days to feel better. Is this the case, or may it take longer time to see results? Thanks.
Avatar n tn I found out tomato products were a huge heartburn trigger for me with my first baby, so I avoided them. Also, some positions, like sitting upright, brought it on. So try to find a food trigger or a position to avoid. Might ease it up. Maybe your baby will not be bald ;) I read somewhere there might be a link between heartburn and hair on the baby - same hormone causes both.
Avatar f tn As for anxiety there isn't much to take, maybe Atarax 25 mg. it's for itching but also used for anxiety. Benadryl is good too, makes you sleepy.
Avatar f tn Heartburn is keeping me up. All I have at home is tums which had been working great but just aren't cutting it. What medicine do you ladies find most effective?
Avatar m tn I just finished treatment 2 days ago for h pylori. It was two weeks on omeprazole, clarithromycin and Metronidazol for two weeks. The original pain I was having was heartburn, bloating and a pain on my side just under my rib cage. The antibiotics gave me diarrhea several times each day. I still have the diarrhea, as well as the heartburn and pain on my side. is this pain on my side something else? A hernia? A really bad ulcer?
Avatar f tn Has anyone got any helpful tips for heartburn for the last week have had it towards the end of the day and its horrible.
Avatar m tn Heartburn pain can be mistaken for the pain associated with heart disease or a heart attack. Physical activity may aggravate pain due to heart disease while heartburn pain is less likely to do so. Just to add, acid reflux is rarely due to high stomach acid. My mother is free of severe GERD and severe LPR taking betaine HCL with pepsin supplements (increases stomach acid) and digestive enzyme supplements (helps with digestion as well).
Avatar n tn A couple years ago he also put me on 20 mg Omeprazole to take once a day for 14 days, after which he said I could start taking the Ranitidine again if i still had the heartburn.
Avatar n tn Omeprazole should not cause any form of jaundice that I am aware of. I take it every day & I have treated for hcv & still treat for aih. I have to take it because of prednisone causing heartburn & gerd.
Avatar f tn Omeprazole (Prilosec) is over the counter. Take for up to 2 weeks. Should notice the difference in a few days. http://www.medicinenet.com/gastroesophageal_reflux_disease_gerd/page3.htm#tocc Proton pump inhibitors The second type of drug developed specifically for acid-related diseases, such as GERD, was a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), specifically, omeprazole (Prilosec). A PPI blocks the secretion of acid into the stomach by the acid-secreting cells.

Avatar n tn Thanks a lot for the reply Dashanan. My symptoms are: getting a very bad stucky feeling in upper chest, at the bottom of the throat. This is more after eating something, especially solid food. Also, I get heartburn on lying down or on sitting. While walking and standing, heartburn is not that severe. My lifestyle consisted of sitting long on chair during the day as I am a finance professional.
Avatar n tn However, I just wanted to know what severe heartburn can feel like. And how do I know if my symptoms are severe heartburn and not something like a heart attack? I never have any major pains in my chest, usually discomfort and burning pains. My heart also feels like it is going to beat right out of my chest and it occasionally flutters, the latter happens when I am lying down. I also get a weird metallic taste in my mouth whenever the symptoms really flair up.
Avatar f tn I thought it was my son not letting the food threw but when i went to the Dr for heartburn she said its just a symptom of heartburn. I felt so full and the food sat there forever. I even got sick a time or 2 because it wasn't going anywhere. Talk with your Dr. I got put on zantac for my heartburn and it has helped with the food just sitting there in my stomach. Im supposed to take it twice a day but i take it in the morning and ill take it at night as needed.
Avatar f tn For me fun helped me a lot. After I eat I chew gum and that helped me. I used to get heartburn even just drinking water!
