Avatar f tn So, I have been having a horrible burning pain in my stomach and no appetite, in addition to weight loss for 3 weeks. I decided to go to the ER on 1/23/17. The doctor asked me a checklist of questions and said I have gastritis, but did no exams. I was hesitant to take the omeprazole because he did no tests at all.
Avatar n tn yes you should visit the hospital
Avatar m tn After 6 hours I thought it was reasonable to go to the ER. I am not the sort of person who visits the ER for evey little thing. When the ER doctor came in he told me I had a problem but it was not serious enough to treat in the ER because I could swallow and was not haveing breathing difficulties. He did not examine me only looking in my mouth and saying he did not see any thing in there . He ordered no lab work. Then his first suggestion on the cause of the problem was I could have cancer.

Avatar n tn Sorry this is going to be a long one. It all started one day at work. I was driving to a job and felt a pressure in my chest. Considering my family's history of heart disease I took this very seriously and went to the ER right away despite the fact I'm only 29. They did all sorts of tests including one they said meant they were 99% sure I did not have a heart attack. Despite this the slight pressure in my chest has continued ever since.
Avatar n tn This is a problem I did not have 4 weeks ago until I quite taking omeprazole. There are studies that show omeprazole does help obstructive sleep apnea. So here I am, omeprazole caused severe itchy skin but helps sleep apnea. Oral steroid stopped the itchy skin but screws with my head and makes me miserable. It appears I am in a CATCH-22 situation.
Avatar f tn I'm 29 years old, with heart disease, a fib, and gerd. For years I've dealt with this issue, sometimes often, sometimes months apart. Last night I was awoken in severe pain around 3am. The pain is so intense it radiates into my back, up my throat into my jaw and head. It's excruciating pain only slightly helped by drinking ice cold water. I'll continuously keep burping, with an urge to throw up, an intense pressure that my stomach is pushing things up.
Avatar f tn I am now on week six so this has dramatically changed my social life and I am now on 20mg of omeprazole. For the first month it started ok. I cut Alcohol, spicy food, all fizzy drinks, orange juice. Now I'm faced with crippling stomach pain, the belching is back and as worse as when I used to drink. I throw up bright yellow acidic sick and have diarohea frequently. I have to wait 2 weeks till my GP appointment. I'm still taking omeprazole, I'm exhausted and I need help.
Avatar m tn This all started 2 months ago when I was drinking some diet coke from a glass and a small piece of ice went in my throat and my throat spasmed up.2 days later i went to the ER and they did a throat xray and nothing there. Doctor gave me omeprazole. Don't know why. A week later i had an endoscopy and I was diagnosed with chronic gastritis. Normal esophagis. No h. pylori.
974371 tn?1424653129 I have taken Levsin 3 times, 1/2 Zofran 3 times, Omeprazole 20 mg plus my Xanax. I am getting no relief and feeling worse! What the heck is wrong and why don't these meds work? Husband will not take me to the ER again. Can't exist like this every day .
Avatar f tn Hello I have been here before, this time my doctor or at least the ER doctors have told me I could have a ulcer, but they don't know. Any way the pain is so intense that I can't sleep don't eat much because I am afraid it will come back with a vengeance. I use to take iron pills 325mg twice a day, omeprazole 20mg twice a day, I drink malox or pepto bismuth to try and coat the stomach. At the ER they gave me narcos to help with pain. I just refuse to take that.
Avatar m tn Following a valve replacement and triple bypass I was discharged from Hospital with a number of drugs and a new one being Omeprazole. I did not know why it was prescribed but after a number of months taking it I decided after discussion with my Doctor to stop taking it. A few months later through the night I got this terrible chest pain on a scale of 1-10 I guess it was 7-8.
Avatar m tn At first my wife had urinary infection, few weeks later she started to have fever and stomach problems, the docter told her it was a gastroenteritis. I bought her omeprazole and gave her amoxicilline, that worked. She felt fine, but few weeks later she had urinary infection symptoms again. The doctor gave her antibiotics again, that helped her.
Avatar f tn I have GERD and a hiatal hernia and have been taking omeprazole twice a day every day for a few months (I had been on Prevacid for several years before the omeprazole but insurance won't cover it any more). If your main symptom is burping, I would try going off of the omeprazole and switching to gas-x or some other type of gas relief medicine. As long as you aren't having a lot of problems with heartburn or acid reflux, you would probably be fine to discontinue using the omeprazole.

Avatar n tn Now due to the pregnancy, it seemed to worsen as I experience painful heartburns. My doctor recommends I take omeprazole along with antacids. I've been taking antacids because I know they don't bare side effects on pregnancy. I am not sure though with omeprazole. I'm scared. I am afraid it might harm the baby. Anyone here experienced the same?
Avatar m tn Hi. I am taking omeprazole for laryngopharyngeal reflux for the past 2 days. I am supposed to take two pills daily, one before breakfast and one before dinner. Today, i started having this feeling that food is stuck in my chest and back of my throat but I don't have any problems swallowing. It is an uncomfortable feeling in my chest. I did not have this symptom prior to starting the drug. Is this a side effect of the drug?

Avatar f tn Omeprazole is for acid reflux - it shouldn't have any effect on your TSH, and you shouldn't have any side effects from stopping it, other than possibly more acid reflux. I took Aciphex for many years, then switched to omeprazole, when insurance refused to pay for Aciphex...... had to go to the 40 mg caps for some time. Once my thyroid levels began to come in line, I stopped the omeprazole.......
Avatar f tn He has a history of acid reflux, but has never had actual pain from reflux in the past. Medications are omeprazole, Lotrel, atenolol, metformin, Zocor, Lantus and Humalog. His BP is well controlled and so is his cholesterol according to his quarterly blood work. His A1c is around 7. The first of February he had a spinal cord stimulator implanted for back and leg pain. Following the surgery he had some post-op issues was placed on 20 days of Keflex and 10 days of Cipro concurrently.
Avatar f tn Hello! In October I had a burning pain under my breast bone and started burping after eating. Went to urgent care and doctor prescribed me omeprazole. Took it for two weeks and everything went away. The week of Thanksgiving the pain started to come back and then I had heartburn that lasted for 4 days. Back on the omeprazole. After a week and a half it didn't work so I went to the ER and they prescribed me protonix. I had an ultrasound of my upper GI and it showed nothing.
Avatar f tn t fix anything and I would have taken out that organ for no reason and have to deal with the side effects for the rest of my life. Sure enough not even a week after surgery I was in the ER for the same pain as before surgery. My surgeon was out of town and the nurse advised the ER. Nothing came of that. CT scan didn't show any left behind stones, just some air, fluid, and ileus - all normal after surgery. This all started shortly after having my 2nd son and he just turned 21 months.
1310468 tn?1274863925 if you are unable to stand up straight, then it is time to consult a physician! Preferably a trip to the ER. You can have something minor that may requiree nothing at all, but you may also be having symptoms of something much more severe.
