A couple years ago he also put me on 20 mg Omeprazole to take once a day for 14 days, after which he said I could start taking the Ranitidine again if i still had the heartburn.
Will it be sufficient for the cure with regular dosage or please suggest any additional measure.
I am in my mid-40's, post menopausal, and have been on Zoloft 100mg for 17 years. I recently had a really bad setback with my anxiety and it's been ten days since I increased to 125mg. I have noticed no improvements. I have a lot of health anxiety, and I sometimes convince myself that the Zoloft doesn't work anymore and I am doomed. I feel like after being on Zoloft for this long of a time, a dose increase would show some improvement by now.
Is it possible to have a reverse reaction to Nexium / omeprazole? It never really made the symptoms of my recently diagnosed hiatal hernia caused reflux (lump in throat, mostly) go away. It seemed to help for 2 weeks, but after 1 month it seemed to aggravate GERD symptoms. I am reading a lot on the subject, experimenting with diet and relaxation and the occasional spoonful of Maalox. I opted for the RAI (3 months ago) and I take cozaar (6 months now) and in these last 3 weeks I am suffering from muscle fatigue, muscle cramps if I stretch them too quickly or exercise them. Could the cozaar be causing the problem or is the disease the problem or both?
You're incorrect. Omeprazole isn't a definitive treatment for peptic ulcers in that it won't correct the underlying problem, but it can alleviate a good deal of the pain associated with ulcers by reducing the amount of stomach acid (the actual substance causing the pain). Omeprazole and other PPIs can and do give ulcer patients a better quality of life while they heal.
Started off on omeprazole after endoscooy then inxe symptoms stopped would ease myself off them only for symptoms to come back at some point every year and so back on the meds. Last year i got some bad symotoms start up and was fed up with popping pills so tried dgl licorice with aloe vera juice instead. Worked a little but not entirely so went to doc and had another endoscopy (which came back all clear of any nastys). Doc stuck me on zantac this time and seemed to clear up.
I have GERD and a hiatal hernia and have been taking omeprazole twice a day every day for a few months (I had been on Prevacid for several years before the omeprazole but insurance won't cover it any more). If your main symptom is burping, I would try going off of the omeprazole and switching to gas-x or some other type of gas relief medicine. As long as you aren't having a lot of problems with heartburn or acid reflux, you would probably be fine to discontinue using the omeprazole.
Hi. I am taking omeprazole for laryngopharyngeal reflux for the past 2 days. I am supposed to take two pills daily, one before breakfast and one before dinner. Today, i started having this feeling that food is stuck in my chest and back of my throat but I don't have any problems swallowing. It is an uncomfortable feeling in my chest. I did not have this symptom prior to starting the drug. Is this a side effect of the drug?
Following a valve replacement and triple bypass I was discharged from Hospital with a number of drugs and a new one being Omeprazole. I did not know why it was prescribed but after a number of months taking it I decided after discussion with my Doctor to stop taking it. A few months later through the night I got this terrible chest pain on a scale of 1-10 I guess it was 7-8.
I am now on week six so this has dramatically changed my social life and I am now on 20mg of omeprazole. For the first month it started ok. I cut Alcohol, spicy food, all fizzy drinks, orange juice. Now I'm faced with crippling stomach pain, the belching is back and as worse as when I used to drink. I throw up bright yellow acidic sick and have diarohea frequently. Now due to the pregnancy, it seemed to worsen as I experience painful heartburns. My doctor recommends I take omeprazole along with antacids. I've been taking antacids because I know they don't bare side effects on pregnancy. I am not sure though with omeprazole. I'm scared. I am afraid it might harm the baby. Had total thyroid removal in September 2011. Voice still gets hoarse when I talk alot. Also, right side of my neck and under chin feels numb and tender to the touch.
Been prescribed Omeprazole and now Protonix for "acid on vocal cord (box). Never had any acid reflux or heartburn. Have appointment for a "Swallowing Test" next month.
As for the neck/chin issue...docs don't seem to be concerned about it. Was told it won't go away.
is omeprazole a nercotic pain killer? i know some medications that may b addicting so i thought i would double check..also i had seen that u can take in an i.v is this true and if so how?
I was taking a prescription (omeprazole) to control my severe reflux(GERD) before I found out I was pregnant. My primary doctor suggested I stop taking it until my first appt with OB( 1/27) to see what she suggests. My reflux is severe and I don't want to keep taking Pepcid and tums like crazy. Has anyone else had this before pregnancy and what were you given to take that was safe?
